Common causes of lower leg pain an Athletes
Pešková, Lucie ; Doubková, Lucie (advisor) ; Truc, Michal (referee)
An exercise-induced leg pain resulting from chronic overloading is a common condition affecting physically active population. This bachelor thesis gives an overview of recent knowledge in differential diagnosis of a chronic lower leg pain. Theoretic aspects deal with three main conditions with the highest incidence, including stress fractures, medial tibial stress syndrome and chronic exertional compartment syndrome. Particular chapters describe the difference in the epidemiology, aetiology, clinical presentation and risk factors. The diagnostic methods and treatment options are mentioned in the next chapter. In addition to theoretic aspects a retrospective study is part of this thesis. The research study the incidence of the lower leg pain among athletes. In contrast to theoretic part we concern about nonspecific lower leg pain in this research. At the same time we research a presence of risk factors and their effect on pathogenesis of the lower leg pain.
The possibilities of physical therapy in patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease
Zeiselová, Jitka ; Kodríková, Kateřina (advisor) ; Pešková, Lucie (referee)
This bachelor thesis is focused on the problematics of the Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease and on the possibilities of its treatment by physical therapy. According to The Montreal Consensus the gastroesophageal reflux disease is defined as a condition which develops when the reflux of stomach contents causes troublesome symptoms and/or complications. It ranks among the most common gastrointestinal diseases, its prevalence in Europe moves between 8,8 - 25,9 %. As the gastroesophageal reflux disease can be influenced by the patient's lifestyle we can classify it as a lifestyle disease. Theoretical part of the thesis introduces the disease, its etiopathogenesis, symptomatology, diagnostic and therapeutic possibilities. The main aim of the theoretical part is to state an overview of possible physical therapy in patients with this disease. The practical section of the thesis consists of two case reports which include examination in the beginning and at the end of the therapy and the description of the therapy itself.
Influence of external conditions on egg incubation in lapwings (genus Vanellus) in temperate and subtropical climate
Pešková, Lucie ; Šálek, Miroslav (advisor) ; Hořák, David (referee)
During incubation, most birds require the presence of at least one parent to ensure suitable incubation conditions for embryo development. The main factors that affect the development of the embryo are temperature, humidity and egg turning. In this work, incubation conditions were investigated in two biparental Lapwing species (genus Vanellus), the Northern Lapwing (Vanellus vanellus), which faces the risk of egg cooling in temperate areas, and the Red-wattled Lapwing (Vanellus indicus), which faces the risk of egg overheating in the subtropics. A laboratory experiment testing the thermal properties of the Red-wattled Lapwing nest lining showed that it selects lining material that slows down temperature growth during egg heating, thus ensuring suitable thermal conditions during parental absence at high ambient temperatures. Temperature and egg turning during incubation were recorded by an artificial egg with a built-in sensors placed in the nests of both target species; data collected by the sensors were stored by a base-station located nearby. The average egg temperature was 32.5 řC for the Northern Lapwing, and 35.0 řC for the Red-wattled Lapwing. Egg temperature in both species fluctuated significantly, affected by many factors. Egg temperature increased with increasing ambient temperature, it...
Non-verbal communication and teacher
PĚŠKOVÁ, Lucie
This thesis, which is divided into two parts, deals with non-verbal means of communication in teaching practice. In the theoretical part there is a summary of themes such as communication, verbal, nonverbal communication and pedagogical communication. Emphasis is put to sub-themes of nonverbal communication, which are facial expressions, gestures, eye contact, kinesics, postures, proxemics, haptics, para-language and physical appearance/environments. In the practical part there is a presentation of the analysis of chosen samples of video recordings, which is focused on mentioned sub-themes of nonverbal communication. The value of these is stressed in process of teaching, too.
MUSEUM OF TEXTILE INDUSTRY IN BRNO
Pešková, Lucie ; Zemánek, Václav (referee) ; Zemánková, Helena (advisor)
Master's thesis is focused on conversion of former textile-industry area located in Brno-Obřany. The aim of the thesis was to build a new textile museum within the area’s landmark, former cotton mill, and to revive the whole surrounding area for both the locals and tourists. The exceptionality of this place lies on the industrial atmosphere and uniqueness of the island, on which the whole area spreads out. I achieved the overall program of the area through detailed analysis of neighbourhood and it’s needs and possibilities, as well as I studied the programs of successful textile museums worldwide. The project revives the whole island area; in contrast to the industrial history, the area is widely covered with green vegetation and adjusted as a leisure park. Besides a textile museum, there is also a great hall, an energy exposition with original Kaplan turbine, a cyclo-point and a snack bar.
Analysis of opinions of visitors Třebíč region
Pešková, Lucie ; Musil, Martin (advisor) ; Pavlů, Eliška (referee)
Bachelor thesis deals with the analysis of the visitor's opinion of the region of Třebíč. The aim of this thesis is to find out opinions, of the chosen sample of the respondents, on exploitation of the attractiveness and tourism services in this region. Thesis is divided into two parts. The theoretical part deals with the definition of tourism and the concept of visitor, with research methods of opinion and satisfaction of the visitors, but also with the attractiveness and services of the region of Třebíč. The second part focuses on the practical application of the issue through a questionnaire. The basic methodology is the personal interview with the respondent. On the basis of realized analysis will be formulated recommendations for local organisations or other subjects dealing with tourism, tourism services and its administration.
Influence of incubation temperature on avian embryo development
Pešková, Lucie ; Šálek, Miroslav (advisor) ; Hořák, David (referee)
Avian incubation is influenced by three basic factors: temperature, humidity, and egg rotation. The incubation temperature can significantly affect the development of an individual before hatching as well as after it. In natural conditions the incubation temperature is maintained by a parent trying to stabilize it at the developmental optimum. The parents must also provide their own needs during incubation, which results in temperature fluctuations. Although the incubation temperature is species-specific, its mean varies between 30 řC and 40 řC across all avian taxa. Lower temperatures but still within the optimum range cause reduced hatchability and prolongation of incubation period. Higher temperatures within the optimum range shorten incubation period and also reduce hatchability. Incubation temperature affects also the weight of an individual, its body proportions, metabolism, survival after hatching, and possibly also reproduction success (fitness). A detailed understanding of the mechanisms by which temperature affects the embryo development and its features is necessary, among others, to optimize incubation methods in artificial incubators. Key words: incubation, temperature, reintroduction, egg, avian embryo, hatchability, incubation length

Pešková, Lucie ; Crhonková, Radka (advisor) ; Čech, Zdeněk (referee)
Bibliographic identification PEŠKOVÁ, Lucie. The effect of the position of lower limb on activation of the vasti muscles. Prague: Charles University, 2. Faculty of Medicine, Department of Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine, 2013. 73 s. Supervisor Mgr. Radka Crhonková. Abstract The purpose of this thesis was to investigate influence of the position of the lower limbs on selected thigh muscles activity. Special attention was paid to activity of mm.vasti. The first part summarizes the literature findings. Based on these theoretical findings, the research plan and hypotheses were subsequently prepared. For the purpose of this work, method of surface electromyography was chosen. The research was primarily realized in a group of 14 healthy individuals. Muscle activity was measured during selected physical activities in both open and closed kinematic chains. We were interested in how different settings of lower limb joints effect the activity and timing of mm. vasti and ischiocrural muscles. In the next part of the research muscle involvement was compared between the control group of healthy subjects and the group of people after plastic surgery of the anterior cruciate ligament. The results indicated some interesting trends, particularly in the timing of muscles. Some of the main outcomes of this work are the...
