Time perspective and procrastination in college students
Böhm, Tomáš ; Lukavská, Kateřina (advisor) ; High, Radka (referee)
The main objective of this bachelor thesis is to analyze the time orientation of students of higher education institutions in the Czech Republic and to examine the links of the relevant perspective to the degree of the procrastinational behavior of the individual. The theoretical framework of the thesis focuses on a comprehensive presentation of the time perspective concept, especially in terms of the multidimensional approach of P. Zimbard, including the relevant diagnostic tool. Furthermore, the thesis describes the current phenomenon of procrastination in the concept of individual psychological directions and specific forms of procrastination. Based on the synthesis of the above-mentioned concepts, the study describes previous studies dealing with the interrelationships of procrastination and the creation of timeframes, whose specific elements represent the meritorious content of an empirical study of this work. For the correlation research, an extended version of the Zimbardo Time Perspective Inventory questionnaire is used in the time perspective, which, unlike previous research, will allow a detailed analysis of the potential presence of completely new relationships. To diagnose procrastination, the research probe uses the Procrastination Scale for Students questionnaire which, when compared...
Resilience in Older age: Interpretative fenomenological analysis
Chramosta, Jakub ; Chrz, Vladimír (advisor) ; High, Radka (referee)
The aim of this work was to capture and understand the unique life experience of experiencing old age in resilient population and to identify the phenomena significant in this experience. The theoretical part consists of explanation of concepts of resilience and old age. For the practical part, we have decided for qualitative research. The research sample consists of three resilient individuals aged 82 to 90, selected by the employees of a care centre for elderly according to their personal experience. We gathered the data for the research using semi-structured interviews, which we analyzed by using interpretative phenomenological analysis method. The results are presented from two perspectives. The first is the analysis of the experience of individual resilient seniors, the second represents the perspective of themes that are important in the experience of resilience and are mutual to all our respondents. Themes are following - activity, routine vs. openness to experience, internal locus of control, flexibility, relationships and affiliations, humor and realistic optimism with hope. In the discussion, we link relate emerged themes to existing research and theoretical knowledge. KEYWORDS Resilience. Old age. Qualitative research. Interpretative phenomenological analysis.

Svobodová, Lucie ; Lukavská, Kateřina (advisor) ; High, Radka (referee)
The Bachelor thesis tries to look at the problem of time perspective from the point of view of qualitative research and to find out how time perspective will be manifested in the testimonies of individuals about their own life or the life of strangers. The theoretical part focuses on the introduction of time perspective and its research. It also describes the reason for researching time perspective in adolescence and describes several influential theories about time perspective. They are the personality-motivational concept by J. Nuttin, the theory of the future perspective by T. Gjesme and the theory of perspective orientation by I. Pavelková. Most attention is devoted to P. Zimbardo's theory, which is also the basis for the carried-out research. The empirical part focuses mainly on the presentation of results from the research. It was done in several grammar schools in Prague, where students filled out a time perspective questionnaire (ZTPI) and two other questionnaires that were not used in this work. Several selected students were then interviewed using the Thematic-apperception test (TAT) and the Lifeline test. The results were processed in the program ⹂Interact" The aim of the research was to find differences and abnormalities in the testimonies of individuals. Thus, we tried to reveal how...
Negative Time Perspective in Adolescents and its relationship with the attachement
Kocourek, David ; Lukavská, Kateřina (advisor) ; High, Radka (referee)
This thesis deals with the phenomenon of negative time perspective in adolescent age in connection with attachment style. In the theoretical introduction, both concepts are presented: (1) Zimbard's concept of time perspective, (2) Bowlby's and Ainsworth's attachment theory. The empirical part deals with the statistical analysis of the possible connection between the negative time perspective and the anxiety / evasive type of attachment bond. On the data found in the S-ZTPI and ECR questionnaires on two sets of respondents: (1) graduate students and (2) university students, I conducted a descriptive statistical analysis, the t-tests to compare two files and calculated the Pearson correlation coefficient. The results showed a strong relationship between the anxiety attachment style and the overall negative time perspective. Another finding was that women score more prominently on the scale of anxiety than men. Given that collections of graduates and undergraduates were not gender balanced, I could not make any conclusions about the differences in the negative time perspective between groups of undergraduates and graduates.
