An annotated translation of selected chapters from the history of the mexican gastronomy

This bachelor thesis is divided into two parts: the practical part and the theoretical part. The practical part consists of the translation of the book De chile, de dulce y de manteca edited by Karla Paola Vázquez from Spanish to Czech. The book was published in the 2007 by the Otras Inquisiciones publisher and was made part of the reader's collection of non-fiction texts released by the magazine Algarabía. The topic of the book is the origin of mexican dining, mexican national traditions, favourite meals and drinks and oral proverbs, sayings and history related to gastronomy. The theoretical part consists of the translation analysis of the original text that takes as the model the methodology by Christiane Nord, the method of translating, the analysis of the problems created during the process of translating and their solution and is finally concluded with the bibliography.

The thesis consists of two parts: practical and theoretical. The practical part contains the translation from Spanish to Czech of the third chapter from the book named Peru written by Patricio Rubio Romero. The book is about historical, geographical, economic, political and demographic issues. The theoretical part includes the translation commentary, namely the analysis of the original text, the description of the method of translation, translation problems, that occured during the process of translation, and their solutions and the typology of translation shifts.

The thesis consists of two parts: practical and theoretical. The practical part contains the Czech translation of the selected chapters of the Spanish guide for the novices in the world of flamenco, Guía del flamenco, published in 1999 by the Ediciones Ismo. The guide deals with the theme of flamenco, its origin and its components beginning with particular kinds of flamenco dance, the singing and the accompanying instruments with a special focus on the guitar. The theoretical part includes the translation annotation where the applied translation procedures, translation problems encountered while translating and their solutions are discussed on the basis of the translation analysis of the original text. Typology of shifts in translations of novels by Santiago Gamboa from Spanish into Czech

The thesis is focused on analyzing the most common translation shifts in the translations of Santiago Gamboa's novels Perder es cuestión de método (1997) and Necrópolis (2009). The theoretical part is based on the presentation of novels and on the analysis of their reception in Spanish-speaking countries and in the Czech Republic. The work also presents two Czech translators, editors and Czech publishing houses, which published these books. The practical part is devoted to the analysis of translation shifts in both translations, we work here with the theory of expression changes and with the theory of shifts in the translation by Anton Popovic (1975, 1983), specially, we focus on individual shifts (lexical instantiations, transcription, omitting of significance, inserting of significance etc.). Mario Vargas Llosa: The feast of the goat - fiction vs. historical facts

(in English): The Bachelor's Thesis examines Mario Vargas Llosa's novel, The Feast of The Goat. It analyzes the novel from a historical point of view. First part pays attention to the history of Dominican Republic, it focuses on the period of dictatorship of Rafael Trujillo, especially on its last years. It examines his politics, cult of his personality and mark that he left in dominican history. The second part compares historical reality with literary presentation by Mario Vargas Llosa. It examines how much the author remains trutful to the historical facts and shows, where he helps himself out with fiction. Further on it analyzes particular characters and clarifies why are they significant to characterize Trujillo and his regime. The final chapter upholds the novel as a historical source, although is is a historical novel.

The aim of this bachelor thesis is the translation of two chapters from the book Filosofía e historia en la práctica de la traducción (Philosophy and history in translation) The author of this book is Martha Lucía Pulido Correa. The thesis consists of two parts: translation of the selected text and commentary of the translation. The translation was done from Spanish to Czech. The first part of the commentary is a translation analysis of the original, which includes objective style creating factors, lexical characteristics, syntax characteristics and grammar of the translated text. The second part focuses on the typology of problems, which arose during the translation. The thesis also includes a photocopy of the translated text.
