Occurrence of flat foot in senior students of (the bachelor's subject) Physiotherapy at the Third Faculty of Medicine, Charles University
Ročková, Šárka ; Vacek, Jan (advisor) ; Herbenová, Alena (referee)
The main objective: The main objective of this bachelor's thesis was to map the occurrence of flat foot in senior students of the bachelor's subject Physiotherapy at the Third Faculty of Medicine, Charles University. Methodology: A group of 20 healthy denizens of the daily bachelor's study programme, ranging from 21 to 42 in age, were tested. The selected set was divided into two age categories, specifically into the "ages 21-25 (including students aged 25)" category and into the "over 25 years old" category. A plantogram, also known as a podogram, was obtained using podoscopy, then the plantogram was analysed in the SketchUp 2018 computer programme. The evaluated variable was the Chippaux-Smirak index. Results: It was found, that the measured Chippaux-Smirak index ranged from 18,6 % to 40,4 % for the left foot and from 12,0 % to 26,8 % for the right foot, respectively. Conclusion: Flat foot in this specific set of tested individuals was not diagnosed. Key words: plantar vault, flat foot, plantogram, index Chippaux-Šmiřák
Correlation of nystagm and postural disfunction
Zahradníková, Lenka ; Vacek, Jan (advisor) ; Herbenová, Alena (referee)
This bachelor's thesis deal with causal connection between congenital involuntary abnormalities of visual fixation, particularly nystagmus and lowering of the quality of the postural systeme. This work is divided to two main parts, which are: Teoretical rewiew and practical study. In the theoretical part I put describcion of human postural systeme, including structure, function and consequences with human physiology in biopsychosocial model of health. There are also mentioned some of the examination methods, aimed to the human motor control system in standing and the gait test. Furthermore there are characterizationes of selected diseases, affecting motor system. The practical study, compares two groupes of probands. One of them is group, including persons with congenital nystagmus of ophthalmology ethiology and second one includes "healthy" persons, without any neurology diagnosis. The comparation is based on consequences of clinical tests, specialized to balance in stance and gait. The consequences of the comparation apparenty mean, that there is a statistical significant connection between the visual fixation and the postural system in this selection of probands. It is possible to indicate this group of patients to practice rehabilitation physioterapeutic methods, aimed to improve the postural...
Testing of the postural function according to dynamic neuromuscular stabilization in healthy individuals
Hrdlička, Filip ; Vacek, Jan (advisor) ; Davídek, Pavel (referee)
The main objective of this bachelor thesis was to ascertain whether healthy individuals will show positive results in the testing of the postural function according to dynamic neuromuscular stabilization. Outcomes of this study should demonstrate whether the tests are too strict and individuals will show over-positiveness (false positiveness). Methods: Recruitment of the subjects was done via advertisement in the student groups of the 3rd faculty of medicine on the social media. Exclusion conditions were: chronic pain history, history of any surgeries and significant injuries, history of significant neurological and internal diseases. The subjective level of selfperception of health was assessed by visual analogue scale and inclusion condition was result 0 - 2. The study included men and women in the age range of 18 - 26 years. 13 tests of the postural function were assessed, three of them had two variations so there were 16 results. Every test included factors, which were rated on a scale 1 - 4. Arithmetic mean of all the factors in the test demonstrated general result of the test. Result ≤ 2,5 meant positivity of the test (pathology), result > 2,5 meant negativity of the test (physiological range). Results: 39 students were interested in joining the study, 12 of them were excluded for not...
Identification of the cervical spine's meniscoids by MRI before and after aplication of manual therapy
Píglová, Tereza ; Jelen, Karel (advisor) ; Tlapáková, Eva (referee) ; Vacek, Jan (referee)
Introduction The joint dysfunction of the spine in the sense of functional blockade is connected with corresponding painful condition, reflex contraction of the surrounding muscles and restriction of mobility in the spinal segment. Joint block has its mechanical context, which need not be accompanied by a structural disturbance but it's affecting the biomechanical properties of the spine. Several theories exist how the joints become restricted. Scientific evidence highly supports the meniscoid entrapment theory. Purposes The aim of the study was to identify the meniscoids of the cervical spine using in- vivo MRI imaging and to determine their potential role in the development of functional joint blocks of the axial system (AS). Another objective was to find out how the articular blocks affect the rheological properties of the spine by the Transfer Vibration through the Spine (TVS) method. Patient sample The MRI study was conducted on a research file of 12 subjects - two anatomical preparations and ten in vivo. Two subjects were examined in TVS experiment. Methodology Two anatomical preparations were investigated on MRI to find the appropriate sequence for imaging of meniscoids, three subjects for identification of meniscoids in vivo. Seven subjects underwent initial investigation, manipulation of...
The Effects of Compensatory Exercises on Function of the Lumbar Spine in Badminton Players under Seventeen Years of Age
Prausová, Lucie ; Maixnerová, Eliška (advisor) ; Vacek, Jan (referee)
Title: The Effects of Compensatory Exercises on Function of the Lumbar Spine in Badminton Players under Seventeen Years of Age. Objectives: The objective of my bachelor thesis is to prove the effect of compensatory exercises in badminton. The other objective is to improve the function of the lumbar spine in badminton players under 17 years of age. Methods: I used tests for a muscle length of particular muscles (musculus iliopsoas, hamstrings, adductors of the hip joint) for an examination of the function of the lumbar spine. Then tests of spine movements (Thomayer test, test of a lateral flexion of a spine), specific Trendelenburg test for examine the stabilisation of the pelvis and the specific tests of activation of the core (Kolář's tests) have been used. I used the set of compensatory exercises for the therapy. The group of badminton players was asked to do these exercises 3 or 4 times per week for 3 months. These exercises are used to relax, stretch and reinforce the lumbar spine muscles. Results: In a practical part of my thesis there I have found the improvement mainly in tests of shortened muscles, in the test of lateral flexion of the spine, in the Thomayer test, in the quadrupedal tests and in the test of intra-abdominal pressure. Keywords: badminton, compensatory exercises, lumbar spine
