Mapping and analysis of user-accesible mobile applications focused on reducing alcohol consumption

Backgroud: Modern technology is developing quite fast on every level of many systems. For example the implementation of eHealth to national strategies and the implementation of technology tools in a care health system or in specialized services. Today, mobile phone are readily available and enhanced and mobile technology is en example of medium that is used in everyday life. Mobile applications (apps) aiming on reduction of alcohol consumption are nowadays observably more available on the market but their effectiveness and evaluation is still unclear. Aim: The main aim of this study is to map selected user-accessible applications available for reduction of alcohol consumption available on digital distribution services of the Android and iOS mobile systems and to describe their basic features. Methods: The study combines content analysis of provided features and functions of user-accessible mobile applications for reduction of alcohol consumption and user testing of a total of four applications. Drug use among emergency operations centre personnel of emergency medical services

Positions in emergency medicine are endangered by increased chance of long-term stress and burnout syndrome. These risks, which are inseparable from their professions, can result in increased consumption of addictive substances. Employees of emergency operations centres are one of these risk groups, hypothesised to have increased drug consumption in comparison to general public. The goal of this thesis was investigation of drug consumption among emergency operations centres personnel and determination of addictive substances and the amounts being used. The second goal was to confirm hypothesis about connection between burn out syndrome and drug use. Data were gained through questionnaire survey which was implemented online in 11 Czech emergency medical services in the first half of the year 2019. 25 % (88 respondents) of asked employees took part in this research. Results show, that emergency operations centres personnel most frequently use tobacco and alcohol, the amount is bigger than the amount used by general public. The results show riskier way of alcohol use and higher lifetime prevalence of cannabis usage among emergency operations centre personnel than in general public. Mapping of behavior and attitudes toward the use of tobacco products among students from 3rd to 5th grades of primary schools in Aš: questionnaire survey

Background: Tobacco products are a global phenomenon, among the social and economic classes of the world population. Smoking is also one of the most common forms of risk behaviour among children and adolescents. According to world research, this is also a major problem among children and adolescents. In the ESPAD research, the Czech Republic belongs among the countries with the highest lifetime prevalence of tobacco products among children and adolescents. Objective: The aim of the work was to map the attitudes and use of tobacco products among pupils of the 3rd - 5th classes of selected primary schools in city Aš. Methods: This bachelor thesis research is based on a quantitative method. The research was carried out by a questionnaire survey. Data were analyzed in MS Excel using descriptive statistics methods. Respondents are represented in one third, fourth and fifth class from each primary school in Aš. Data were collected using pencil-paper questionnaire. Overall, 151 students participated in the survey, with an average age of 10.8 years. Results: The results show that 32.5% (n = 151) have at least one life experience with a tobacco product. Prevention of Sexual Violence in Nightlife Setting: An Evaluation of the Nightlife Staff Training from the Trainees' Perspective

Background: The nightlife environment is a frequent place of the sexual violence. It happens mainly because of the atmosphere and environment in the clubs, which are sexualized and characterized by alcohol consumption or other psychoactive substances. In the Czech Republic, nobody has been systematically involved in the prevention of sexual violence by this time. Since the end of 2017, the Department of Addictology has become a partner of the project Stop-SV - Stop Sexual Violence, which is dedicated to staff training in the clubs. Aims: The primary aim is to evaluate the training program by the club staff who attended the Stop-SV training. Methodology: The thesis is based on qualitative research methodology. Respondents were selected as simple random sampling. The selection criterion was the condition of participation in the Stop-SV training as the club staff. The research sample consisted of 11 respondents - 5 women and 6 men, 28 years of average age and on the positions as bar staff, security, managers, nightlife service worker, DJ, photographer. The quality of smokers life after an outbreak of a cardiovascular disease in connection with the decision to quit smoking

Background: Smoking is the cause of the deaths of up to 7,000,000 people worldwide and can be referred to as a global pandemic. There are 25% of the adult population smoke in the Czech Republic and it is estimated that there are currently 2.4 million active daily smokers. Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the most common cause of death in the Czech Republic and approximately 50,000 people die every year. In all these deaths, smoking accounts for 26% of men and 12% of women. According to available studies, smoking is directly related to CVD and is a major risk factor for this disease. Both of them, tobacco use and chronic CVD are thought to have a significant impact on the deterioration in quality of life. Aims : The main goal of the diploma thesis was to assess the subjective perception of the quality of life of smokers in connection with the decision to quit smoking in the acute phase of cardiovascular disease and with a three- month interval to find possible connections between tobacco use and quality of life. A qualitative analysis of IQOS usage patterns among tobacco users in the Czech Republic

Background: Tobacco and nicotine contained in it belongs to the substances with the highest addiction potential. The harmfulness of conventional cigarettes is a publicly known fact, and this is one of the reasons why producers are trying to market other tobacco alternatives. One of them is heated tobacco IQOS, which has only recently appeared on the market in the Czech Republic. IQOS users are an unexplored and unspecified social group whose patterns of use and characteristics are not adequately described in terms of expertise. Aims: The primary objective of the study was to describe the typical patterns of IQOS use among tobacco users in the Czech Republic, who left smoking conventional cigarettes and converted to the use of heated tobacco. The secondary objectives were to describe the characteristics of IQOS use, users' paraphernalia relationships, motivation to convert to the IQOS and the development of patterns of use over a two-month period. Mapping of user-accessible mobile applications for smoking cessation

Background: Modern technologies have become a part of our everyday life. Mobile phones, are one of the fastest spreading technology, which can be present with us every moment of our day. Their possibilities of utilization in medical interventions rose with their proliferation. Among those medical interventions we can find applications for smoking cessation. Eventhough their number is rising steadily, foreign professionals are doubftful as to whether they use clinical based guidelines for treating tobacco dependence. Aim: The main aim of this study is to map user-accessible applications available for smoking cessation to czech users in czech language and describe their basic features. Methods: The research is based on combination of user testing and content analysis of provided functions of mobile applications. For evaluation of their features a personal assessment tool was used, with three defined categories (technical specifications, terapeutical functions and testing specifications). Dependency factors in tobacco use and mobile phone use by members of the Police of the Czech Republic in the district of Česká Lípa

The Internet has become the dominant medium in the last decade, and increasingly, mobile phone use is a natural part of our lives, and in any age category. Tobacco use is currently very popular, according to the State Health Institute (2018), a total of 25.2% of smokers in the adult population in 2017. The thesis deals with the research carried out in 2018, focusing on the use of mobile phones and the use of tobacco products by members of the Police of the Czech Republic, comparing the use during working hours against use outside of working hours. Data collection was conducted through a standardized questionnaire survey. To determine the use of tobacco, the Cigarettes Scale Questionnaire was used and a Chen Internet Scale Questionnaire was used to determine the use of the mobile phone. In the form of simple, deliberate selection on the basis of possibilities and availability, the members of the Police of the Czech Republic in the Česká Lípa District were included in the research and were included in twelve local offices. The number of respondents involved in the survey was 100 policemen. Risky sexual behavior of problem drugs users using low-threshold addictology services in České Budějovice

Basis: In the Czech Republic, an estimated 46.8 thousand problem drug users and the prevalence of infectious diseases (mainly viral hepatitis C) among problem users are high. This may be related not only to the actual use of drugs but also to their risky sexual behavior through which they can transmit infectious diseases as well. Objective: The main goal of this thesis is to describe the occurrence of risk sexual behavior in problem drug addicts using low-threshold addictology services in České Budějovice. Methods: The results of this thesis were processed on the basis of answers from an anonymous questionnaire from 50 clients of the contact center in České Budějovice, with a total of 12% of clients' contact centers. They were addressing respondents who came to take advantage of the exchange program or contact room. A total of 19 women and 31 men participated in the survey, the average age of respondents was 32 years. The research results were identified and processed in graphs through descriptive statistics. The data was evaluated in Microsoft Excel and then in Microsoft Word. Results: The results show a certain connection between problematic use of addictive substances and risky sexual behavior. THE ABSTRACT OF THE DIPLOMA THESIS The Name of the Diploma Thesis: The motivation to lose the habit of smoking in patients terated for some other kind of addiction Abstract: Starting point: The prevalence of smoking in people addicted to other narcotics is usually 2 - 3-times higher than in common population. The same percentage of people addicted to tobacco is among patients treated in some in-patient treatment for people addicted to narcotics or gamblers. Simultaneous treatment of addiction to tobacco and other kinds of addiction is possible and is recommended. It seems to be also effective and favourable for treatment of other patient's addictions - it supports the improvement of physical and mental condition. The interest in treatment of addiction to tobacco often appears in patients. But the question is how much they are motivated and informed by the staff. There is no integrated schedule focused on breaking the habit of smoking in in-patient clinics for addiction treatment.
