The dominant part of this work is entitlement of the main ethical issues related to the participation of journalists in social networks. Emphasis is placed on the effects of hazardous or otherwise forming a journalist's reputation when he is moving in this new public space and also to study the effect of the technology itself - raising some ethical dilemmas (through the concepts of Web data mining, automatic language processing). As an ethical standard and a tool for the description was chosen selection of international and Czech editorial codes and codes of journalistic associations. Problematic actions are identified in such ontology. Statistical survey of the present work will map the participation rate of Czech journalists on Facebook.
Czech foreigen journalist of public media: comparison of conditions for execution of profession

The diploma thesis "Foreign Journalists of Czech Public Media: Comparison of the Conditions for execution of Profession" describes, maps and compares conditions for the work and life of permanent foreign journalists of public media institutions in the Czech Republic. These institutions are Czech Television, Czech Radio and Czech News Agency. After defining terms of public media, it continues by anchoring the public media in Czech legal system, a short description of history of each medium in context of foreign journalists, and the costs of operating a journalist network. Then it defines a journalist with regards to his or her profession and the necessary assumptions for doing such work. Later, foreign journalists are divided into several categories - permanent, ad hoc, freelancer, and war correspondent. Next, an operative part based on questionnaires had been sent to journalists and on two personal interviews with heads of the foreign editorial staffs of Czech Television and Czech Radio. The response rate to the questionnaires was over 60%. It investigated what kind of education current foreign correspondents have, as well as which languages they speak, their journalism career and experiences, what kind of equipment they have worked with, how often they are in contact with their central editorial...
BBC Radio 7 - public service for children

The object of this dissertation is to map out broadcasting to children on the BBC's public digital radio channel, BBC Radio 7. First, it will introduce BBC Radio 7 as a new digital radio station, that has been broadcasting since December 2002, whilst referring to BBC Radio's 7 history, it's programming and programm format and it's weekly reach and budget. Furthermore, the dissertation focuses on the characteristics of programmes aimed at children, that BBC Radio 7 broadcasts. Equally, it closely analyzes BBC World News for Children, the news bulletin created for children it's structure, the scope of news topics, the substance of the news stories, it's language and the way the news are made.

User-generated content and its use in digital news media Abstract This thesis deals with increasing activity of Internet users who intensively create, publish and spread their own content. Huge part of this content is related to news and interferes in the traditional field of mass media organizations, which have to put up with newly established situation. The theoretical part of text describes the development of network media and strives for ground active user participation into media discourse and historical context. Therewithal, this part introduces kinds of user-created contents, defines their characteristics and analyzes these users who are called "prosumers" or "produsers" in the Web 2.0 era. The attention is also focused on user-generated content used by news websites and citizen journalism. The second part analyzes how the foremost world news media use and benefit from user-generated content. Examined media are iReport CNN, uReport Fox News, Have Your Say BBC and France 24. The text also analyzes Czech news media, especially ČT24 news channel and main Czech news websites and offers comparison with world media. Both parts of the thesis focus on web and television news service.
Construction of modern patriarchate in magazines for mens and family

Central question of this dissertation thesis is, whether magazines in the Czech Republic reproduce such mechanisms of masculinities representations in their content which simultaneously construct modern patriarchal structures. Qualitative discourse analysis was chosen as the key method and the dissertation thesis researches six issues of men's lifestyle magazine Maxim and six issues of family magazine Květy. As a primary proposition was an idea that the patriarchal mechanisms of current society might be necessarily included in the content of both magazines, no matter what genre they are, and that those mechanisms might differ from each other only in their shape. The manner, form and measure of informing about the news from Czech republic in Polish daily newspaper Gazeta Wyborcza since 1989 until now

This bachelor thesis focuses on the foreign news service and publicism from the Czech Republic in the Polish daily newspaper Gazeta Wyborcza since 1989 until now. It analyses the quantity and the contents of the news from the Czech Republic not only in its paper form, but also on the newspaper's webpage www.wyborcza.pl. The thesis shows the beginnings of the daily newspaper Gazeta Wyborcza, the difficulties with the formation of the newspaper during the end of communism in 1989 and, according to the articles and topics published in it, also the way how the Polish public opinion on the Czech Republic was formed. This bachelor thesis works with the internet and book sources and also with the paper archives of Gazeta Wyborcza since 1989. There is also a place for the Czech and Polish reporters who inform about the news and events in the Czech Republic. The thesis collects the most important events from the Czech Republic, starting with the end of communism in 1989. These events and the interest in them are analyzed in this work. Gazeta Wyborcza, the most significant nation-wide newspaper in Poland, shows a sufficient view on the Czech and Polish relations. Gazeta Wyborcza was originally founded as a medium of the political movement Solidarity during the Polish Round Table Agreement in May 1989....
