Attitudes of students with hearing disability educated by the oral method to communication in Sign language.

The Bachelor thesis is attempting to give an idea of what is the stand of students with hearing disability educated by the oral method, on communication in sign language. The theoretical part is based on findings from deaf education. It is looking into the topic of hearing disability (classification of hearing disability, the psychosocial aspects of people with hearing disabilities, etc.) Furthermore, the thesis describes not only the contemporary education and care for persons with hearing disability but also looks at the historical stance of this topic. The text then discusses the approach in the communication of people with hearing disability - mainly sign language, fingerspelling and lip-reading. The practical part is done in a form of half structured discussion focused on what communication system the students prefer, how the respondents view the oral method, in what manner they communicate outside of school, etc. KEYWORDS Deaf education, oral method, Sign language, communication
Moral Reasoning of People with Mild intellectual Disability

The aim of this thesis is to describe and analyse the moral reasoning of people with mild intellectual disability, as well as to find out their understanding of more abstract terms of the moral domain, what the principle of their deciding is, and which values are important for them. In the first part, the thesis concentrates on the influence of the intellectual disability on the cognitive, emotional and personality aspects of the subjects. It also introduces several theories of the moral development, moral structure and values, and finally, the thesis presents the outcomes of the foreign research focused on the moral reasoning of people with intellectual disability. In six case studies in the empirical part, the thesis demonstrates the moral reasoning of people with mild intellectual disability, who have been respondents of exploratory interviews. In the concluding part, the thesis attempts to find some identical significant moments which might be characteristic of moral reasoning of people with mild intellectual disability, and put them into the context of other research and theories.
People with hearing impairment in their adulthood. Rehabilitation after cochlear implantation

The topic of the thesis is people with hearing impairment implanted in their adulthood and rehabilitation after cochlear implantation. The thesis is divided into four chapters, the first three chapters are concerning the theory and the fourth chapter is empirical. The first chapter highlights the problem of a person with hearing impairment. The next chapter discusses about cochlear implant as adaptive technology, who is a suitable candidate for cochlear implant and what possibilities has future user. The third chapter is devoted to the area after cochlear implantation, including rehabilitation and other services for adults with cochlear implant. The empirical chapter of thesis presents a qualitative design of the research focused on rehabilitation after cochlear implantation in adults with hearing impairment. The research was realized in adult's users of cochlear implant and then supplemented by a questionnaire survey among experts in their field. The main objective of this work was mapped to that extent is realized rehabilitation in adults before and after cochlear implantation. Czech sing language comprehansion by students of secondary schools for the deaf

This diploma thesis deals with the education and communication of students with hearing impairment with a focus on the analysis of the level of understanding of information in sign language for students of special secondary schools for the hearing impaired. The theoretical part presents important concepts in this area, such as the definition of communication and communication options for the hearing impaired, as well as educational opportunities for the hearing impaired from a preschool level to a university and last but not least sign languages, their research in the world and Czech sign language as a native language of people with hearing impairment in the Czech Republic. The empirical part describes the research, which was conducted on 65 probands - high school students of the special school for students with a hearing impairment. The research is focused on the differences in the level of understanding of groups of students according to their identification data and also examined whether comprehension is affected by the complexity of the information transmitted (i.e. whether information at the level of ordinary conversation is better understood than a professional information). Comparison of Sign Language Interpreters'Education Systems in the Czech Republic and the Great Britain

The bachelor thesis deals with the comparison of sign language interpreters' education systems in the Czech Republic and Great Britain. The objective is a comparison of possibilities, availability and quality of sign language interpreters' education in said countries. The thesis attempts to evaluate and define the main differences between the systems and subsequent submission of possible changes for the sign language education system in the Czech Republic. The theoretical part briefly describes the basic concepts and terminology in connection to hearing impairment that is relevant for the topic, the specifics of the Czech Sign Language, British Sign Language and International Sign as well as the comparison of sign language interpreters' education in the Czech Republic and Great Britain. The research part is processed by quantitative research, specifically in the form of an anonymous survey and concentrates on the analysis of the current situation through the eyes of the interpreters themselves. The thesis output is an evaluation of the survey together with the submission of proposals for possible modifications of the current czech sign language interpreters' educational system in the Czech Republic.
Quality of life of people with acquired hearing disability in adulthood

This thesis is focuced on the quality of life of people with acquired hearing disability in the age between forty and sixty years. In the theoretical part there are outlined physical, psychic and social characteristics of persons in the age range and then there are defined the elementary concepts concerning hearing impairment, diagnostics, compensation and there is also explained concept of the quality of life. Practical part of the thesis concentrates on a analysis of the qualitative research that the author of this thesis implemented. The aim of this thesis is especially to clarify how do people with the acquired hearing disability rate their quality of life - how do they interpret this construct, which aspects do they include, and how much does the acquired hearing disability influence their subjective quality of life. For that reason interviews with some informants were implemented. The results of the qualitative research shows that the essential effect on the quality of life of the individuals has their satistaction with their family life and their occupation. Informants describes occasional problems with communication that are caused by their acquired hearing disability, however, these problems does not influence the informants' subjective feeling of well being. Application of Feuerstein Instrumental Enrichment in Preschool Education

This master's thesis deals with the Instrumental Enrichment Method of Reuven Feuerstein. It provides an introduction to the method as well as examples of its application in institutionalized Preschool education. The aim of the thesis is to provide insight into aspects of introducing the method as a part of Preschool education. The theoretical part desribes the theoretical framework of the method and defines the method in relation to Preschool education. The theoretical part of the thesis also deals with the principles and Czech legislation of current Preschool education and related inclusive education. The practical part of the thesis derives from a qualitative research on the real practice introduction of the method in institutionalized Preschool education. Research data are based on individual interviews with the nursery school headmasters. The interviewers were from various nursery schools across the Czech Republic, which are registered in the Register of Ministry of Education. The results of the research provide the respondents's opinions and experiences of various extent. Many overlaps were found in content of testimonies, which provides method enrichment in various areas of institutionalized preschool education.
