The dollar's status in the global economy with emphasis on recent developments

This thesis analyzes the current position of the U.S. dollar in the global economy. The first chapter focuses on the historical evolution of the position of the dollar against the background of the development of the whole international monetary system. The main part is focused on the current status of the dollar, which is examined on three fundamental functions of money - a store of value, unit of account and medium of exchange. The last chapter deals with possible scenario for the future status of the dollar.
Economic Integration of Balkan Countries: Current Situation and Perspectives

The thesis concerns the economic integration of Western Balkan countries. It aims to describe development of the integration, it's current situation and possible perspectives. The thesis is divided into three chapters. First chapter refers to territorial trade structure of Western Balkan countries which is very important for undestanding the integration itself. Second chapter deals with the development and current situation of the economic integration. We can study the integration from two points of view. Firstly, it's possible to study the integration of the countries within the Western Balkan region and secondly, their integration to the EU. This aspect of economic integration is studied in the third chapter. It focuses on Croatia and Macedonia.
Wider context of the mortgage crisis in the USA

The aim of this bachelor thesis is a backward connection of the events concerning the mortgage crisis in the USA and explaining the importance of the crisis as a part of the economic cycle. Chapter no. 1 describes the beginning of the crisis in historical and other consequences. It briefly specifies history of the currency system and also history of the USA before the crisis. Also, it specifies the key phenomen of the crisis -- a bubble on the asset market. Afterwards it explains particularly the bubble on the technological market, so called Dot Com Bubble. This increase in the technological stock prices followed by their downfall is directly connected to the mortgage crisis which is described in a following text. The subprime mortgages and their influence on the further events are described. The topic of the following part of this chapter is wrapping up the mortgage backed securities together with other assets and their diffusion all over the world. This is one of the main reasons that caused the transformation of the mortgage crisis into the financial and the economic crisis. The end of the first chapter describes the progress of the crisis in Europe and in the Czech republic. The second chapter tries to answer the question if it was possible to predict the crisis. At first it describes the economic cycles generally and in the USA. The following part deals with the economic indicators which signalized the arrival of the crisis. The last part of the thesis demonstrates some specifics of housing and its importance as a leading indicator.

This bachelor thesis deals with the roles and functions of international organizations in today's globalized economy. The thesis is focused on the roles and activities of three international economic organizations which are widely seen as the most powerful organizations of global economic governance - the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank Group and the World Trade Organization. The thesis outlines how well these organizations are currently performing, and suggests how they could be made more effective in managing globalization.
Global Governance: definition and current reforms

Global governance finds itself at the crossroads. Current system is, to some extend, still reflecting world from the first half of the 20th century. Therefore it has not reflected all the changes and is struggling to bring itself up-to-date. Namely, the significant changes in developing world and rise of developing economies seem to be the cause of global governance that is ineffective and out of date. Aim of this paper is therefore to point out necessary changes, focus on main actors of global governance and analyze possible directions that global governance can take in the near future. This paper will mainly focus on economic dimension of global governance. It will show why the new architecture should be build around G20, International Monetary Fund and UN and it will underline changes that are necessary in order to reflect current world situation and improve its legitimacy, effectiveness and power.
The Mortgage Crisis in the USA and its Impact on the Present

This bachelor thesis is concerned with the mortgage crisis in the USA. The aim of the thesis is to contribute to discussion about causes, course and consequences of the crisis. The thesis is divided into four chapters. The first of them is dedicated to simplified description of the mortgage market in the USA regarding its main differences from the conception in the Czech Republic. The causes of the mortgage crises are analyzed in the second chapter. The third chapter describes the course of the crisis and its transformation into the financial crisis. In the last chapter the consequences of the events cited above are mentioned.
Fulfilling the Millennium Development Goals in Nepal

This bachelor thesis investigates whether and how the Millennium Development Goals are being fulfilled in one of the world's least developed countries, in Nepal. Its objective is to monitor the progress of several indicators from 1990 until now and to evaluate how Nepal, ten years after signing the Millennium Declaration, manages to fulfil the Goals (and the relevant targets) and whether is on track to meet its commitment. The first part briefly characterizes Nepal itself, the second part describes the Millennium Development Goals and the third part of the thesis is devoted to each of the Goals in detail, evaluates the progress achieved, the measures taken and the steps that have eventually contributed to that progress.
Multinational corporation in the process of globalization

It tries to discover their impact on contemporary human society. Further emphasis is put on research of historic context and predecessors of present transnational corporations. An attention is also paid to the globalization itself.
The International Monetary Fund and its role in Financial crisis

This bachelor thesis analyses Fund's activity in financial crises and aims to review the effectiveness of the IMF. In the first part there is introduction of the IMF. Its structure, financial resources and instruments which are used in solution of crises are described. In the second part, there is analysis of Fund's role in the selected crisis of 90th - Mexican crisis, crisis in south-east Asia and crisis in Argentina. In analyses, there is always stated a characteristic of the crisis and then evaluation of the role of the IMF. Emphasis is placed on criticism that the IMF's measures have evoked. In the last chapter there is briefly stated the current financial crisis and Fund's participation in it. The thesis also outlines future development of the IMF.
