The Influence of Autism on the Siblings of Children with Autism

This work deals with the families of children with disorders of the autistic spectrum, focusing on their siblings. The fírst part outlines the theoretical data concerning this issue. This part principally focuses on the issue of the families of children with autism, how it affects them, and the diffículties that can arise when there is a child with autism in a family. Another topič examined is the presence of other children in the family and the effect a sibling with autism has on them, including the professional or non-professional means of assisting these children or of overcoming any diffículties. The research part presents the results of the investigations. In order to achieve the aims of this thesis the author has used a combination of a quantative and qualitative approach - specifícally interviews with siblings, questionnaire surveys and monitoring. The families involved in the research are first briefly presented, followed the opinions of parents on the theme of the other children in the family, sibling relationships and the associated worries and desires. The main part focuses on a description of the most important aspects affecting the siblings of a child with autism. The finál part then describes the currently available means of helping the siblings of children with autism in the Czech Republic
Number sense among children in first grade of elementary school

The whole thesis has been the view on the level of the understanding to the number among children at first grade of the elementary school. The beginning part focuses on the general summary of the points related to the main subject. This means the developing of cognitive functions at the time when children start attending school, summary of the technical terms connected with mathematical abilities and describing the development of the mathematical abilities at the first grade. The research applies to the topics in the field of mathematical abilities, which are relatively new in the Czech Republic. I tried to describe the number sense among children at the first grade, their strategies during solving the tasks and also to describe the measure of their math anxiety. Another outcome is finding out the dependence of results of the powers of intellect test, number knowledge test and the math anxiety measure. My research was realized under the patronage of the research realized at the Australian University, Sydney. The conclusion of the thesis focuses on the suggestions how to support the children's mathematical abilities development before they start attending school. Use of internet sites KamiNet for teaching languages to pupils with specific learning disabilities

The thesis aims at presenting the set of procedures using web learning sites KamiNet. The author developed these sites primarily for pupils with specific learning disabilities in secondary school as a tool for learning Czech language and English language. Description of these sites and analysis of their use is also part of presentation. The thesis is divided into eight chapters. The first chapter is dedicated to the concept of specific learning disabilities - definitions and occurrence. The second chapter contains new age conception of learning languages in current Europe according to Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, based on information provided by scholarly literature, and its influence on conception of learning languages in the Czech Republic according to general educational program for primary and secondary school, including respect to pupils with specific learning disabilities in secondary school. The current knowledge related to problems of medial education and usage of web sites in teaching is presented in the third chapter. The fourth chapter pursues formation and intention of web learning sites KamiNet. People with Down's syndrome and Alzheimer's Disease

V této práci jsem se pokusila systematicky shrnout současný stav vědomostí o příčinách, průběhu, diagnostice a intervenci u osob s Downovým syndromem a Alzheimerovou nemocí. Tato problematika již svou podstatou vyžaduje interdisciplinární přístup - bylo nezbytné opírat se především o poznatky medicínských oborů, které se zabývají problematikou stárnutí - tedy neurologii, neuropsychologii, geriatrii a do určité míry i psychiatrii. Východiskem vždy byla hlouběji propracovaná teoretická základna vědění o Alzheimerově nemoci u intaktní populace, oproti které jsem vymezovala specifika demence u osob s Downovým syndromem. Na druhou stranu však, především v kapitole zabývající se péčí, jsem se úzce dotýkala zavedených postupů péče o osoby s mentálním postižením a toho, jak je nezbytné je specifickým způsobem upravit v případě, že se u dané osoby projeví kognitivní porucha. Nejedná se pouze o zesílení stávající podpory, i když ta je nezbytná, ale i o změnu struktury a formy péče. Jedná se o nové téma - v češtině zatím ani nevyšla jediná publikace zaměřená specificky na toto téma - a tato práce sama o sobě je pouze střípkem, který získá smysl vložením do většího obrazu, který je teprve třeba složit.
Proffesional care of children with school delay

Thesis "A professional care of children with school delay" is focused on the analysis of intervention for children with the recommended postponement of school attendance. in pre-school and preparatory classes in primary schools. The thesis also includes a scheme of a Special Education reeducational aids, which can be used for possible developmental disorders which limit children entrance into the compulsory school attendance in the prescribed age.
Characteristics of social network relationships that improve social inclusion and wellbeing of women with intellectual disabilities in the Czech Republic

Women with intellectual disabilities need the support of social networks to be able to create relationships and to participate in community life. This qualitative research focused on analysing characteristics of the social networks that facilitate the social integration and community participation for women with intellectual disabilities in the Czech Republic. The data were collected via semi-structured interviews, with mothers and sisters of women with intellectual disabilities aged 15-40 years, about fourteen women with intellectual disabilities in order to find out and understand how social networks hinder or facilitate the participation process and wcllbeing, the aspects of social networks that enhances effective participations and boost wcllbeing for them and why these aspects are important in increasing the quality of social relationship and the sense of belonging to community for these women. Techniques for working with paper in the working hours of teaching

The aim of the thesis is presented to demonstrate the fact that the working classes significantly affects the development of fine and gross motor skills of students with mild mental disabilities. Work is also devoted to working techniques when working with paper in the working hours of teaching elementary school. In the first chapter generally defined mild mental retardation, and characterize its main features. In the second chapter specifies the student's personality with mild mental disabilities of school age. The third chapter is devoted to the educational program for primary school in teaching the course work. Following part of the thesis are focused on specific business and technology topics that affect the development of gross and fine motor skills. Some of the topics that are presented here, I created myself, others I drew from literature. The conclusion is devoted to case studies that converge on the issue of students with mild degree of mental disability in the working hours of teaching. These findings and conclusions based on his own observations and experience gained in teaching activities. The Use of Free Time Activities with Autistic Children

This Diploma Thesis deals with the use of autistic children's free time and is aimed on the primary school children. It sets itself a goal to describe the specialities in spending of these children's free time and to investigate the present free time activities situation in Prague region. The combination of qualitative methods (case study, analysis of interview) and quantitative methods (questionnaire survey) was used in the Thesis. The topics are logically classified: the first chapter summarizes the basic terms which are important for the orientation in the problem. It briefly describes the autistic etiology, characterizes the autistic primary school age child and describes its behavior. The second chapter deals with the general characteristic of the free time, and next, it aims on the game as an important part of the primary school age and its specifics with the autistic children. The third chapter investigates the possibilities of the free time use for autistic children in Prague. The next chapter proves the specialities in the evolution and behavior in the free time, which are mentioned above, on the casuistry of the primary school age child. Support scope for multiple-sclerosis patients

Tendency of this dissertation is to map patients therapy, working and sociable habilitation, ways of education and the social possibilities that patiens with multiple-sclerosis have. To record activities of patiens and others organizations, whic are merging patients or are supporting patients another way and compare their quotations. To find out, if this quotation is enough for patients and if they have the same opportunity from each location in Czech Republic.
Student with dyslexia at second grade of primary school

This bachelor thesis focuses on one of specific disorders of learning, namely the problem of dyslexia in second grade of primary school in relation to pupil self-concept. The practical part presents case studies of three girls and Q-technique as well as their self-image. The findings summarised in the concluding part may be useful for workers pedagogic-psychological counselling and for all those involved in the education of children with dyslexia.
