Gender analysis of the perception of original sin from the perspective of a sample of believers in the Czech community from Romania
Pekárková Schneiderová, Eliška ; Knotková - Čapková, Blanka (advisor) ; Kobová, Ĺubica (referee)
In my thesis I deal with a biblical "myth" of the original sin and with a question how this topic can demonstrate the genesis of gender duality in a sense of superiority and inferiority using the authors catholic and feminist theology and subsequent data collection. The topic of the original sin is being analysed from a gender view -first in the theoretical part of the thesis that has helped me to continue to the following part of a research. The research consists of semi-structured interviews with a group of people belonging to a specific community. These people were born in the Czech villages in Romania and live nowadays in the Czech Republic. The original sin and its "myth" are still being presented at the level of a myth. His consequences remain in the background of the society and public attention. That is why I decided to deal with this topic. In this way I connect my own interest with this group, which includes a minority of a society with special characteristics. The aim of this thesis is to present the consequences of the original sin on a theoretical level and in terms of research, which I also contribute to with my interviews. And so to answer the research question regarding the influence of minority companies mostly from the standpoint of faith.
"There are not many of us girls and that is a shame". Low number of female students at technical secondary schools
Nguyenová, Monika ; Kobová, Ĺubica (advisor) ; Hasmanová Marhánková, Jaroslava (referee)
This diploma thesis is attentive to very low numbers of girls, studying at technically oriented secondary industrial schools. It examines the factors, which lead to the reasons why girls are not motivated to study at the schools of this kind, as well as factors which cause that they do enter these schools, such as their interest in studying technologies, their motivation in the form of their future professional application or the existence of patterns in the form of people who they imitate. In the theoretical part, which examines the causes of the absence of female students, the work criticises the claim that boys are more talented for studying technical disciplines, while girls excel in humanities. It points to ways of keeping gender stereotyped thinking, for example, a strongly rooted opinion, that little girls should be led to take care of children and other persons, housework, and professions which are an extension of their domestic roles into the public sphere. After this work identifies the risks and impacts of the absence of girls in technical fields, there are mentioned some procedures that should be introduced in the education of children in elementary schools, so that the children may not have to decide on their future field of study based on generally accepted gender stereotypes. Based...
Gender aspects of parental choise of traditional and Montessori kindergarten
Kučerová Uriková, Dana ; Smetáčková, Irena (advisor) ; Kobová, Ĺubica (referee)
The thesis deals with gender aspects of parental choice of common and Montessori kindergarten. The theoretical part focuses on topics related to both gender identity and its development and with the preschool period, which is described primarily in terms of gender. Given that important parts of childhood are toys, the theoretical part also focuses on the gender aspect and explores it. Gender equality is offered as one of the possible approaches to children upbringing and education. The Montessori method of education occupies a large space of the theoretical part. The thesis also compares Montessori kindergartens with common kindergartens. Research of the thesis is based on a qualitative analysis of interviews with mothers of children in the pre-school and early school age. This analysis goes through all the interviews. It searches and then compares common categories. The research shows that parents choosing a kindergarten for their child do not reflect forms of gender socialization in the kindergarten. Alternative kindergarten is often chosen by parents of children who apply elements of gender- sensitive education in their upbringing. Parents, who chose child Montessori kindergarten for their child, have more specific and clearly defined selection criteria than parents collecting common...
Current life of "superwomen" after primary family breakup
Hanáková, Šárka ; Kobová, Ĺubica (advisor) ; Hasmanová Marhánková, Jaroslava (referee)
This thesis is dedicated to women who were called "the super women" during the communist era. Their mission was to combine their profession with taking care of their children alongside of being a housewife. Even though the traditional model of the men supporting the whole family changed to more democratic model with the both man and woman supporting the family, the housekeeping and taking care of children still stayed the wive's responsibility. In the period of communism, women were "double burdened". They dedicated their lives for their families and the free time they had, which was less then what men had, mostly corresponded with the interests of children and the whole family. In this thesis I focus on how these women live nowadays. They have already retired and after losing their partner they now live alone. I also focus on how they deal with this different life situation and changes in their social roles. I work with the theoretical approaches of emancipated femininity and active aging as a way to cope with changes in social status. I chose the qualitative approach as a research method. It is implemented in this diploma thesis by analyzing thorough interviews with widowed seniors.
Systems of Transgender Oppression in the Czech Republic: An Independent Analysis
Lorenzů, Alex ; Sokolová, Věra (advisor) ; Kobová, Ĺubica (referee)
The thesis deals with the normative discourse of transsexuality, both from a general cultural- historical perspective in the context of Western science and medicine and more specifically in the context of Czech sexology. On a detailed analysis of the publication Transsexualita: Diagnostika a léčba (Transsexuality: Diagnostics and Treatment), I illustrate the currently dominant conceptualization of transgender and/or transsexuality as a disorder, which, due to its normative influence, predetermines not only the possibilities of (self)identification available to trans* people in the Czech Republic, but also their treatment by Czech society and state institutions (e.g. in the conditions to be met for legal gender recognition, which still include compulsory sterilization). Methodologically, the thesis is chiefly grounded in discourse analysis, but it also shows an ethical standpoint in relation to the situation of Czech trans* people in the legal and medical systems. I also consider the factual dimension of transgender status and other expressions of gender diversity, primarily in maintaining a critical distance from the notions of their alleged pathology, still widespread in the normative sexological discourse. Keywords Biology, discourse, ethics, human rights, intersex, normativity, pathologization,...
Political Thought of Judith Butler
Sůsa, Jan ; Hauser, Michael (advisor) ; Fulka, Josef (referee) ; Kobová, Lubica (referee)
My thesis is focused on critical analysis of political thought of American philosopher Judith Butler. Butler is concerned with the relationship between individual identity and collective subjectivity, and her works - which caused many critical reactions - represent one of the most interesting discussion in the field of feminist political philosophy. Butler is mainly concerned with the question, how various political strategies (eg. feminism) could be based on common interests of various agents, and not on their supposedly stable identity (eg. sex and gender). Her criticism of unproblematized "natural" identities is important not only to the constitution of any individual identity, but also for the notion of the political dimension of a collective subject. The introductory chapters of my thesis are concerned with early thought of Butler, mainly with her critical relationship to the "second wave" feminism, and with her notion of the performative constitution of gender identity. Next chapters explore the shift in her thinking from analysis of gender and sex towards more general themes of political thought: nation, race, class, universalism, state censorship, possibility of resistance or emergence of a collective subject without stable unifying principle. I also try to analyze selected critical...

For this purpose I conducted nonparticipant observation, which was complemented by semistructured interviews. The thesis consists of two parts - theoretical and empirical part. Theoretical part deals with fundamental concepts which are related to the research question and empirical part consists of methodical procedures and analysis of interviews with male teachers, female teachers and female directors as well as analysis of fieldnotes from nonparticipant observation. The Differences in Gender Equality Implementation in the Policies of Ano 2011 and CDU/CSU
Sutterová, Dita ; Pavlík, Petr (advisor) ; Kobová, Ĺubica (referee)
The diploma thesis Differences in the promotion of gender equality in the politics of the Ano 2011 party and the CDU / CSU union deals with a comparative analysis of two political parties, the Czech party Ano 2011 and the German Union CDU / CSU, and their approach to gender equality. Both ruling parties since 2018 influence establishing greater gender equality in society than is currently the case. That's why I chose to answer the questions for the research How do both political parties view gender equality? How do they enforce it in their policy? And are they trying to set greater gender equality in their policies in society, or are they just using it as a form to win the votes of more voters? I tried to find the answers using the method content analysis of political, government and election programs, and other party documents.
