The Russia policy of Germany 1917-1918
Šulc, Jakub ; Stellner, František (advisor) ; Tumis, Stanislav (referee)
German foreign policy and military activity on the Eastern Front between 1917 and 1918 was primarily determined by effort to make peace and to stabilize the situation there, which would allow the transfer of command of the German troops to the western line. There was necessary to determine the current impasse before landing of the first sections of the United States in the spring of 1918. Their presence would reverse the current ratio of balanced forces of both warring parties against the Germany. This policy has been influenced by several interconnected factors. Besides the already mentioned time limit on troop movements between fronts there was a important relationship with the new Government of St. Petersburg from November 1917. Despite the Germans initially envisaged cooperation in the negotiations on the basis of support for the Bolsheviks on their way to power, but then there was a fundamental contradiction and friction surfaces, which were partly caused by the differing views on the spread of revolution among the Bolsheviks themselves. Ambivalent relationship between Germany and Russia had not stopped the signing of Brest-Lithuanian Peace 3rd March 1918, but continued after, until the surrender of Berlin in the autumn of 1918. Both regimes is to achieve its goals could not miss each other when the...
The influence of exercise applied by bicycle ergometer on spirometric data measured on-line during exercise. Detection of exercise induced bronchoconstriction and dynamic hyperinflation
Šmolka, Jiří ; Šulc, Jan (advisor) ; Smolíková, Libuše (referee)
Bachelor Thesis "Influence of exercise on spirometric data measured on-line during exercise. Detection of exercise - induced asthma and dynamic hyperinflation" sumarizes knowledge about genesis, detection and prevalence of exercise-induced asthma. It further deals with the occurance of dynamic hyperinflation and its effect on lung mechanics. Practical part sets forward oportunity of observing an alteration in spirometric data and dynamic lung volumes during exercise and after its cessation in order to detect dynamic hyperinflation and exercise - induced asthma by showing practicle examples. It shows an alternative approach to exercise bronchial challenge testing. It further discusses the diference between reaction of spirometric data of non-asthmatic subjekt and asthmatic subjekt. The conclusion of this work is that the change in spirometric data, provided by modified bronchial exercise challenge, differs between asthmatic and non-asthmatic subject. Measurement of the lung functions in patients long term after spinal cord injury
Wadowská, Marcela ; Šulc, Jan (advisor) ; Kříž, Jiří (referee)
Pacients after cervical and thoracical Spinal Cord Injury can have many respiratory complications. These complications lead to a disorder of the respiratory muscle's innervation (according to the height of the lesion) and also a failure of the defense mechanisms, that ma-intain the hygiene of the respiratory airways. The aim of this theses is to observe the develo-pment of the lung function in these patients. The evaluation of this study takes place one year after the injury. In the spirometry measurment, maximum mouth pressure, expiratory flow limitation and quiescent diaphragmatic function participated 15 pacients, who were divided, according to the ASIA scale, in 4 groups. This study showed interdependence between FVC, FEV1, PEF and PI/PEmax throughout the year.
Definition of new referential values of maximum inspiratory and expiratory pressures and P0.1 values in normal population of the 16 - to - 17 age range
Kálalová, Tereza ; Šulc, Jan (advisor) ; Koudelková, Alena (referee)
The purpose of this thesis is to define norms for inspiratory (Pimax) and expiratory (Pemax) pressures and mouth occlusion pressure (P0.1) in healthy white population of the 16-17 age group in the Czech Republic, specifically the capital city of Prague and its close vicinity. Furthermore, this work aspires to ascertain whether there is a correlation between the respiratory pressures, P0.1 and selected anthropometric and pulmonary values. In order to define the norms, 79 children were tested, including 41 boys and 38 girls 16 to 17 years old. After establishing the subjects' case histories, anthropometric, spirometric inspiratory, expiratory and forced vital capacity measurements were made. The study defined the norms of respiratory pressures and P0.1 in 16 to 17-year-old boys and girls, thus achieving its main goal. Furthermore, a difference was found between the average measured Pimax and Pemax values for boys and girls, with the boys showing higher values comparing with the girls. The study did not ascertain a correlation between respiratory pressures, P0.1 and selected anthropometric values (age, height, weight, BMI, BSA). No correlation was found between respiratory pressures and static pulmonary volumes. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
Electoral Geography of Poland After 1989
Šulc, Jan ; Mlejnek, Josef (advisor) ; Kubát, Michal (referee)
The master's thesis "Electoral Geography of Poland After 1989" explores the spatial distribution of patterns of electoral behavior in Poland on the basis of analysis of the results of all presidential elections and elections to the Sejm that took place in the country between the years 1990-2010. The main hypothesis tested by this master thesis is that former boundaries between Russia, Prussia (Germany) and Austria (Austria-Hungary), between which the territory of modern-day Poland was divided in the 19th century, still have an impact on Poland's electoral geography. On the basis of this hypothesis, political parties and presidential candidates are divided into two pre-defined categories: traditionalist and modernist The validity of the hypothesis is then proven by visual analysis of political parties' and presidential candidates' electoral maps, and also by the application of Pearson's correlation coefficient on political parties' electoral results from constituencies and presidential candidates' electoral results from voivodships. In contemporary Poland, a clear rift exists between the parts of the country formerly dominated by Prussia (Germany) and major Polish cities on the one hand (also known as "Poland A"), and Russia and Austria (Austria-Hungary) on the other hand (which is sometimes...

The rigorous thesis Electoral Geography of Poland After 1989. The Spatial Dimension of the Results of Presidential Elections and Elections to the Sejm of the Republic of Poland explores the spatial distribution of patterns of electoral behavior in Poland on the basis of analysis of the results of all presidential elections and elections to the Sejm that took place in the country between the years 1990-2011. Definition of new referential values of maximum inspiratory and expiratory pressures and P0.1 values in normal population aged 14 - 15 years
Kepková, Jana ; Šulc, Jan (advisor) ; Koudelková, Alena (referee)
The aim of this study is definition reference values including reference equations for parameters PImax, PEmax and P0.1 of the normal Czech population aged 14-15 years. 102 subjects were examined for this purpose (55 boys and 47 girls). Except the reference values for boys and girls, this work includes correlations of mouth pressures with anthropometric data and also with other spirometric parameters. In case of boys were found a significant correlation of PEmax parameter with weight, BMI and PEF. In group of boys we also found a correlation of PImax with BMI and PImax with IC. Parameter P0.1 correlates only with VT. In group of girls we found a significant correlations of PImax, PEmax and P0.1 with PEF and MEF25.
Hydraulic properties of siphon and direct flow swirl turbine
Hudec, Martin ; Šulc, Jan (referee) ; Veselý, Jindřich (referee) ; Habán, Vladimír (advisor)
Non-stationary processes are associated with the operation of water machines. They are important for their reliable and safe operation. Prediction and modeling of such states using a 1D mathematical model verified on a model in the laboratory is an advantage. The work is focused on the description of a pair of transient states that are related to siphon turbines and their operation. Determination of critical flow values for inducing a suction effect and, conversely, calculation of the minimum size of the flow coefficient for safe stopping. The experiments were performed on a laboratory model and compared with operational data from a small hydroelectric power plant Želina.
History of the Cistercian Monastery in Zbraslav till the hussite revolution
Šulc, Jan ; Kubín, Petr (advisor) ; Doležalová, Eva (referee)
The Bachelor thesis focuses on the beginnings of the Cistercian monastery in Zbraslav, its boom and its importance right after the monastery was founded by the Czech and Polish king Wenceslas II until the plundering by the Hussites. Author of the thesis starts with a brief history of the place in the context of the time before the founding of the monastery. The first written reference to Zbraslav is in the founding charter of the Kladruby monastery from 1115. In this year prince Vladislav I gave a place called Zbraslav to the Benedictine monastery in Western Bohemia, together with other estates on the confluence of the Vltava and Mže rivers. It is quite possible that this decision signalled later choice of Zbraslav of the king Wenceslas II for establishing one of the most powerful and eminent Cistercian monasteries in the Czech lands in the time of the last kings from the House of Přemysl. Zbraslav's abbot and the well-known chronicler Petr Žitavský calls it a disposition of God. The king chose Zbraslav as a burial place for the whole royal family and for this purpose a magnificent convent Virgin Mary church was built on the grounds of the monastery, the most monumental sacral structure of its time in the Czech lands. The thesis engages in the development of this significant Marian sanctuary and...
