New Forms of Tourism and their Impact on Cities
Klicnar, Filip ; Balon, Jan (advisor) ; Šanderová, Jadwiga (referee)
This thesis charts the increasing volume and changing nature of tourism in Europe. It was allowed by the liberalization of air travel market (the emergence of Low-Cost Carriers), and by the emergence of sharing economy (Airbnb). Followed by these changes a new segment of tourists, who were described as independent travelers, emerged. The thesis focuses on the interaction of those three factors and their effect on urban space - thus on its socio- geographic, socio-economic and socio-cultural fabric. Because of Low-Cost Carriers, tourists and travelers are concentrated in several European cities - those which were able to accommodate its environment for these airlines. In the cities, tourism spread from the concentric zones of the city center to the zones of the inner city, where a new tourist industry was adjusted for independent travelers. This touristification deepens the process of gentrification and spatial inequalities. Because of Airbnb, the limited hotel supply in the city center was surpassed, and the accommodation sector was integrated into residential fabric of the inner city. Those touristified spaces of the city become socio-culturally heterogenic. However, with increasing costs of living in the inner city, this space is more and more socio- economically homogenous. Consequently,...
Perceived Inequalities by Immigrant Students in Czechia
Strnadová, Kristýna ; Šanderová, Jadwiga (advisor) ; Grygar, Jakub (referee)
The Diploma thesis presents how teenage students from third countries understand their daily life problems and difficulties which happen to them as a consequence of being a foreigner in a host country. Based on an analysis of ten semi-structural interviews, it is shown that students face several types of problems. The situations mentioned reveal a lack of recognition of their position in the Czech Republic; however, students perceive problems this way rarely. Even though students describe relatively large amount of language and scholastic difficulties, and problems with classmates and unpleasant encounters outside of the school environment, they tend not to see them as inequalities but rather as inevitable situations connected to their status of being a foreigner. They also often understand the problems as individual experiences which do not happen collectively, they see these problems as exceptions and bad luck or as the same problems that Czechs have. Sometimes the problems are seen as inexplicable by the students. Only when an experience is strong enough, they perceive it as a racist behavior or discrimination. Despite the fact that students sometimes demonstrate an inability to react to such behavior, they create several strategies on how to avoid them and how to deal with them. What...

Rossová, Iveta ; Balon, Jan (advisor) ; Šanderová, Jadwiga (referee)
The thesis deals with the construction of inequalities in the access to the tertiary education with the special emphasis on entrance exams to the universities. The aim is to explore how the entrance exams as the gate to the universities are perceived by students - the actors who are the most affected by these inequalities in education, according to relevant research of these inequalities. The thesis studies how these actors perceive their position and situation within the entrance process, what situations (if any) are constructed as unequal by these actors, who is affected by such inequalities and how does he/she copes with them. The research question is seen from the perspective of interactionist constructivism and answered by applying methods of grounded theory and semi-structured in-depth interviews.

Zemanová, Aneta ; Šanderová, Jadwiga (advisor) ; Grygar, Jakub (referee)
The diploma thesis called "Ritual elements in the practices of Herbalife Independent Distributors" is focused on the manifestations of Randall Collins' interaction rituals on the example of multi-level marketing company - Herbalife. It tries to answer two questions: answer two questions: What does the Herbalife Independent Distributor community hold together? What motivates them to work, when everything is voluntary at Herbalife and they do not have a competitive driving force there? The connecting mechanism of the multi-level marketing structure and interaction rituals are practices of organizational culture. The most important are the physical meetings of members in which interaction rituals take place. By living interaction rituals, Herbalife members produce emotional energy, by which they empower the symbols of organization and the sense of group solidarity. Positive emotional energy has an impact on the cooperation of distributors with the organization, and it affects also their effort to achieve common goals.

Bicanová, Jana ; Šanderová, Jadwiga (advisor) ; Teichmanová, Klaudia (referee)
This bachelor's thesis focuses on the issues of gender regime of dissident milieu and related gender order of the whole socialist society. It highlights gender relations while focusing on the presence of solidarity or homosocial reproduction between male and female dissidents. The intention of this thesis is to explore the way how post-communist careers of female former dissidents are connected to their understanding of the dissident involvement of theirs. To this end, it utilizes a combination of secondary analysis of two different kinds of interviews with seven female former dissidents and study of literature dealing with said subject. The analysis is based on five analytical categories inspired by Hana Havelková's proposition about a hybrid traditionalist-communist model of a career woman. The categories are based on a general concept of gender, and focus on more concrete concepts dealing with socialist society specifically. The conclusion of the study is in a proposed hypothesis form. These hypotheses are recommended to be tested by using different methodology. One of the key hypothesis claims that the former female dissidents did not give up their "gained positions" once the revolution succeeded. The kind of post-socialist careers of former female dissidents were not a change of a career...
