Vedoucí diplomové práce PhDr. Irena Reifová, Ph.D. Abstract This thesis in its theoretical work focuses on the topic parasocial interaction, a specific relationship between fans and celebrities. This fundamental concept is initially set in a broader context. Closer are characterized by celebrities as a publicly-known media figures, and the audience as active recipients of stimulus. There is a concept called. Ordinary stars, as well as focus on issues not only fandom, but also specific terms such as adoration and celebrity stalking celebrities. After outlining the basic theoretical insight is explored basic concept - parasocial relationship. The practical part with respect to the overall theme of the work is carried out using semi-structured interviews with rock stars, fans steady on one side and ordinary fans of the stars on the other. Based on the results and authentic materials are analyzed each category. The work aims to explore how similar concepts related to celebrities, as well as different approaches to media stars.

The master thesis called "Czech films based on well-known criminal cases: from reality, newspaper/TV news to feature film and film reviews. Causa Velvet killers" deals with the notorious so-called Orlík Murders from the early 1990s. This case is considered as the biggest criminal case of the post-communist era in the Czech Republic. The group of five members killed five people, mainly for the money, between the years 1991 and 1993. Three of their victims were found in the Orlík Dam - two corpses were sealed in metal barrels and one was hidden in a mesh. The murderers were sentenced in 1997 after a four-year-long investigation. The movie called Velvet killers or The New Breed, which was directed by Jiří Svoboda, is based on these true events. This thesis focuses on the TV version of this motion picture and then also on the reviews published after the movie was released in 2005. This thesis mainly wants to reflect how the Czech media - specifically newspapers and television news - informed about this criminal case in analysed years from 1995 to 1997. The determining factor is the accuracy of the information. The aim of the work is to summarize the results of reporting on this case, which is still considered as one of the most brutal in the history of our country.
The history of the sport department of czech television 1993-2015

This diploma thesis Historie Redakce sportu České televize v letech 1993-2015 describes the sports broadcasting in the Czech Republic (and Czechoslovakia) from 1989 to 2015. The author explains the most important milestones in the history of Sports Department of Czech Television. The description goes from the constitution of the department over the circumstances connected with the inception of the channel ČT sport, the changes in the organization, personal composition and editorial leadership up to the current form of the department. The thesis also contains the development of sports news, live broadcasts, television technology, Olympic Games, football and ice hockey broadcasts and the importance of the Internet utilization for sports department (abbr SD). The essential parts of this thesis are more than 30 interviews with editors of SD involving their own opinions, authentic experiences and stories. The thesis also reminds some of the long forgotten facts and answers many questions regarding sports broadcasting in the past, present and future including the outlook towards the year 2024. The TV program of the Czechoslovak television from the year 1968 till April of 1970

The thesis titled "The TV program of the Czechoslovak television from the year 1968 till April of 1970" deals with the program offer from the period of so-called Prague Spring until the end of April 1970 when the second transmitter circuit was ready to start. I chose this time period because of frequent changes in politics and society, which was reflected in the media content, and thus in the TV content. This time segment is divided into four time periods in which I monitor the program offer of the TV. The first period is the period of Prague Spring, the second one is from September 1969 to April 1970 when Gustáv Husák became the first secretary of the ÚV KSČ, the third one is from May 1969 to August 1970 when Jan Zelenka became the director of Czechoslovak television (he was considered as the first normalization director) and the fourth period is from September 1969 to April 1970, when the second transmitter circuit was ready to start. The main aims of this thesis are detailed description and comparison of TV offers in these four periods. To achieve the objectives a comparative analysis is used. Media reflection of Heliodor Píka's vindication in 1968

Relief in Czechoslovakia at the end of 1960's had affected almost everything in everyday life of people. Phenomenes or actions, which had seemed to be inappropriate or forbidden in sight of regime suddenly, became (at least partly) possible or acceptable. Even uncovering the injustice and untruths made by the garniture after the WW2. This was also concerned to trial with gen. Helidor Píka. The aim of the thesis is puting the process of Píka's vindication into historical context. There are two main characters who were really eager about the proces - Milan Píka, son of the executed general, and Rostislav Váhala, Píka's advocate. They both tried hard to reopen the case since Heliodor Píka had been executed on 21st July 1949. The paper also deals with the fate od Píka after 1948 and other characters who were linked in the trial (in both - either positive, either negative - ways). The sources used are gathered in National archives and scholarly literature.
Czech and American beauty blogs: comparative content analysis of advertising potential

This thesis analyses and compares Czech and American beauty blogs in terms of advertising. Using a quantitative content analysis and predefined research questions it attempts to assess their commercial use. The presented analysis focuses on several aspects, such as the quantity of banner and text advertisements, the number of photographs of cosmetic products or mentioning the opportunity of purchasing the product. The aggregate results of the study show that the American beauty bloggers are in advertising use more advanced. This is due to the involvement in affiliate programs, negotiating discount codes with e-shops or placing imperceptible advertisements into regular posts. A partial aim of this thesis is to explore Czech beauty blogs that are increasingly becoming an inexpensive marketing channel for cosmetic companies.
Audience perception to the paradoxical narrative in the series Game of Thrones

The thesis "Audience reception to the paradoxical narrative in the series Game of Thrones" focuses on the research of the audience and its reactions to the unusual plot twists in the series Game of Thrones producted by HBO. The Audience and its reactions to specifically selected twists were researched through qualitative methods of deep semi-structured interview which was carried out with ten respondents. "Primary" audience, i.e. the viewers who had not read any books from the Ice and Fire saga before watching the show, was choosen as a research sample for this study. Reactions of this audience are more spontaneous and unpredictable. The primary aim of the research is to find out how viewers react to the newly defined paradoxical narrative in the Game of Thrones series and why they keep watching this series despite its unusual plot twists.
The image of italian films in czechoslovak film journals in years 1965-1975

This diploma thesis - The image of Italian films in Czechoslovak film journals in years 1965- 1975 is devoted to the manner of display, presentation and evaluation of Italian cinematography in the magazines Kino and Film a doba. The first part of this work describes the social and political environment in Czechoslovakia and in Italy, with an emphasis on culture, film and print media. The attention is focused on the end of the 1960's, when in Czechoslovakia the totalitarian political development was strengthened after an effort to democratize society, whilst in Italy the democratic development of the capitalist society was maintained, despite the pressures of the left-wing forces. The analytical part of the thesis uses qualitative methods and examines the contents of articles in the chosen periodicals. It follows the arguments of film publicists and critics and reveals how the social atmosphere and movements was portrayed by Italian filmmakers. The work focuses on analyzing the articles about Italian movies of different genres and styles, to which film themes was given more space, how was reviewed the work of filmmakers and actors and how was characterized the Italian cinema in general. Role of antiheroes in current television series Qualitative reception research of the series Breaking Bad

The thesis thematizes the antihero phenomenon in current television series, whereas the phenomenon mentioned is attempted to be explained by a qualitative reception research regarding the television series called Breaking Bad. Therefore, the aim of this research is to understand the motivations of viewers for selecting and watching series featuring a main protagonist that might be described as an antihero. It is thus a type of audience research that is attempting to identify the aspects that are the most attractive for audience of these kinds of narratives. Furthermore this thesis is trying to clarify viewer's attitudes towards antihero as a type of serial character, as it becomes apparent that these characters are becoming more popular than ever before. The results of this research offer an evaluation of viewer's motivations for watching the series featuring antiheroes and identification of aspects that are the most attractive for audience of these kinds of narratives.
