The communicative competence in the activity centres in the step by step program

This work is focused on exploring communicative competence in the educational program Step by Step. Theoretical part is devoted to transformation of the Czech school system. Furthermore it is dealing with alternative and innovative educational systems and introduces key competences in context with educational framework of the program for elementary-school education. At the end of the theoretical part there are main thoughts of the program Step by Step stated there. Action research meets requirements for research part of my diploma thesis. I am trying to suggest the most effective way of developing communicative competence in children in this part.
Media education in the primary school teaching

In my diploma thesis I am dealing with media education in primary schools in Czech republic. In theoretical part I inform the readers with foundations of media education, which come from general media studies, I present main concepts of media literacy and the evolution of media education on examples of foreign theorists. In the same time I describe a place of media education in czech education system. Research part focus with help of questionnaire on describing main trends of understanding media education among primary school teachers and tries to clarify applicability of methods and using media in contemporary education.
C. Freinet's pedagogy for primary school

This diploma thesis treats of Célestin Freineťs pedagogy and it focuses on the technique of interscholastic correspondence. The theoretical part briefly characterizes the features of Freineťs pedagogy, describes the conception of the particular subjects and selected techniques. It tries to indicate the possibility of their application in Czech elementary schools within the framework of contemporary transformation process of the Czech education systém. Further, it confronts the existing Czech projects concerning correspondence with the interscholastic exchange technique by Freinet. The practical part describes and reflects experience gained during the practice at a foreign school of the Freineťs type and it also deals with the acquisition of the possible incorporation of the correspondence technique in the education in the current Czech schools.
Scope of use of project teaching in relation to cultural-historical institution

This Master's thesis is aimed at exploring the concept 'learning outside the classroom' (Project Teaching) for primary school grades one through five and its use in the creation of educational programs for deeper cooperation between schools and cultural-historical institutions. The work is divided into three parts. The first part deals with the history of this particular educational method, the transformation of Czech education since 1989, curriculum differentiation and methodological procedures which should be changed according to the needs of our changing society and its subsequent impact on pupils and their learning. The second part focuses on "learning outside the classroom" (Project Teaching). The aim of the third, practical section is to examine the educational potential of culturalhistorical institutions in the formation of projects for children within the first five years of primary school. One of four training programmes based on the main concepts of "learning outside the classroom" (Project Teaching) is described. Textbooks evaluation

This thesis deals with an evaluation of textbooks and their operation at school. The theoretical part clarifies the purport of the term a textbook, functions and a structure of textbooks, and describes a text of textbooks, parameters of its evaluation, and the extratextual components of textbooks. It presents methods of work with a textbook and research into textbooks. The empirical part describes a research that was aimed to learn whether textbooks fit to modern parameters of textbooks. Further, it was aimed to find out the differences between using textbooks in practice and intentions of the authors, and the reasons for making these modifications.
Issues of assessment at the first stage of primary school

My graduation theses bears the title Issues of assessment at the first stage of primary school. It mainly surveys the traditional method of assessment - clasification alias marking and latterly promoted method of assessment - word assessment. This thesis sets as it's aim to resume advantages and difficulties of both of these assessment methods and to determine in the conclusion which of them better correspondes with the contemporary requirements for assessment. This conclusion should be strenghtened by the research part, which has a form of a survey among pupils, parents and teachers.
Information and Communication Technologies as a Means of Key Competition Development

The thesis inquires into the introduction of information and telecommunication technologies to Czech and European curricular documents. Together with the introduction of this educational area the thesis focuses also on the subject of key competencies. On the basis of the above mentioned fadts the practical part concentrates on the application of the new teaching objectives to the system of elementary e d u c a t i o n . Action r e s e a r c h e x a m i n e s possibilities and paths that lead to reaching the defined objectives and to creation of selected key competencies of fifth grade pupils in the subject "Information and communication technologies".
Methods of efective integration of teaching English into the programe Step by Step

In my thesis I deal with methods of effective integration of teaching English into the programme Step by Step. This thesis outlines the transformation of the Czech education system after 1989, engages in some modern approaches of teaching English language and introduces Step by Step programme. The goal of this thesis is recording the course of teaching English by different organizational circumstances. The second goal is to describe and evaluate teaching English in bilingual class with focus on teaching materials and methods used. At the end of my thesis I offer some concrete suggestions of effective integration of teaching English into the programme Step by Step.
Meaning of the Teaching Assistant at the Elementary School

This study opens the question of the teaching assistant at the mainstream Elementary schools. It is focused on the role of teaching Assistant in respect to the teachers, the representatives of the school management, pupils and teaching assistants it selves. The core theoretical interest of this study is to describe extensively this position deployed in the Czech Republic Educational System through the inclusive education. The empirical part includes the entire philosophy of employment such a position at the chosen mainstream schools. It survey teaching assistant work while using the form with the open questions for the teachers and teaching assistants, semistructured interviews with the representatives of the school management as well as with the pupils with statements of special educational need. The outcome of the master's project comprise all the conceptions of deployment of the teaching assistant into the Elementary schools and brings the evidence of the usage and benefit of this position.
Planning of teaching focused on cross curricula topics and verification of its impact on the development of key values and attitudes of primary school pupils

The target of the thesis In the theoretical part of the thesis is my aim to chart the teachers possibilities for incorporation of the sectional themes into the teaching at first level of basic school. Especially the theme regarding the education of the thinking in European and global context. I would like to focus on how the teacher can within the class develop the students values and their attitude, which are related to the sectional themes and concurrently, how can we detect and use the impacts of this type of teaching. I will focus on definition of the requirements for the teachers, who prefers approach to the teaching oriented on attitudes and values. In the empirical part of the thesis I am going to make a case study at the basic school, which will chart the actual work of the survey methods, regarding the students values and their attitudes and efficiency of the intervention presented as targeted work with these values and attitudes. Data collection will be in form of participant observations and collection of the documents and artefacts in the classroom.
