Well-known political causes in the world of film

This bachelor work deals with the problematics of well-known politics causes in the world of world - cinema. The theme is linked to the journalism and tries to define why the tales of journalists and their search for truth attract filmmakers worldwide. The first part of this work is about the possibilities of adaptations, genre definitions and fictional worlds of well-known politics causes. The second part of the work focuses of two examples of adaptating real pollitical affairs into moving pictures. The first one is called All the President's Men and it was shot in 1976. It represents the most famous movie about so-called Watergate scandal which ended in resignation of American president Richard Nixon. This bachelor work focuses on film reactions and the portrayal of journalism in this movie including some rather problematic aspects. The second part of this work focuses on movie called Snowden, which also includes journalists, but their characters are kind of suppressed. The 2016's film follows the story of whistleblower who revealed massive surveillance by American government. This work includes citation of journalist to whom Snowden revealed his accusations. Slope stability of Jizera river valley slopes in Semily region

The thesis deals with slope stability of a landslide "U Čtrnácti pomocníků", which is located in the north-eastern part of the city Semily in the Liberec district. The thesis is divided into theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part was carried out literature search on the issue and the natural conditions around the wider area of interest. The practical part consists of individual sections within which the research were conducted archival documentation, mapping areas of interest, own technical work, sampling and geophysical measurements and laboratory work and stability calculations. Also the engineering geological model of the landslide was created. The results of the practical part are used as the basis for the final engineering geological evaluation of this area.
Topic of Life in Early Bergson

This diploma thesis observes the topic of life in early Bergson. It is divided into three parts. The first chapter is concentrated on Essay on the Immediate Data of Consciousness. In this chapter we can become acquainted with the distinction between duration and space. This distinction is the basic of Bergson philosophy. We can also see the distinction between the deeper self and the surface self, which is based on the first distinction. The second chapter Matter and Memory shows how the foregoing distinctions are connected through the Bergson's theory of memory. In the last charter, named Creative Evolution, we deal with the metaphysic concept of life by Bergson, which has always been connected with duration and freedom
The role of media in crisis negotiation with terrorist organizations

The Bachelor's thesis The role of media in crisis negotiation with terrorist organizations describes the complicated relationship between news media and terrorism. The first part of the thesis explains why media consider terrorism to be an attractive issue for media coverage and why terrorists need media. Furthermore, it defines the elementary principles of journalism ethics, which journalists should follow. The study focuses particularly on cases relating to negotiation with terrorist organizations for hostages' release. It also describes which roles media takes during the negotiation for hostages' release. In this context, the thesis deals with ethical issues concerning spreading terrorist's propaganda via media, censorship by the state of information about national security and terrorism, depiction of violence in media and invasion of victims privacy. In the second part of thesis, theoretical findings about media, journalism ethics and terrorism are applied to beheading videos of American, British and Japanese hostages, which were published by Islamic state in 2014 a 2015. The theses explains in depth, how media influence efforts for the release of Islamic state's hostages. It analyses ethical transgressions, which media committed in case of this issue.

This bachelor's thesis deals with American and Czech reviews of three novels by Khaled Hosseini: The Kite Runner, A Thousand Splendid Suns and And the Mountains Echoed. The first chapter summarises the most important events of Afghanistan's modern history, the second chapter defines terms used in literary criticism and the three last chapters compare different reviews of each of the three novels.

The aim of this thesis is to analyze online film reviews of a documentary Katka and users' comments published in Česko-Slovenská filmová databáze. In the theoretical part of this thesis, the text will cover definition of a term documentary movie and his historical development in Czech Republic and former Czechoslovakia. Also it will mention work of a documentary film maker Helena Třeštíková and her movie Katka. This thesis will also describe term review and commentary, which will be applied in the practical part of the thesis. Users' comments and online reviews of a documentary Katka by Helena Třeštíková are evaluated using authors' theoretical knowledge. The key result of the thesis is a quantitative and qualitative analysis of a review and comment as a tool to referring about documentary Katka.

The bachelor diploma thesis Media reception of the Czech Lion 2015 - from nomination process to the announcement of the winners occupies with reporting of the chosen Czech media outlets on the annual awards ceremony hosted by the Czech Film and Television Academy. The first part is focused on the history of the awards, especially on the Czech Lion 2014. There is mentioned the instant reception in the Czech daily press and the reporting on the two subsequent affairs. In the theoretical part there is a comparison of the terms "review" and "criticism" and there is also briefly mentioned the characterization of the methods of analysis based on the reference books. In the main part the quantitative analysis was used to explore the frequency of the reception in the media outlets and also the variability of the media regarding the number of editors who had been concerned with this topic. The author also examined how had been the coverage in the printed press and on the news websites connected. With using the qualitative analysis he examined how negative or positive had the reactions of the editors been regarding the general concept of the Czech Lion Awards, the ceremonial or the potential affairs. The master thesis called "Czech films based on well-known criminal cases: from reality, newspaper/TV news to feature film and film reviews. Causa Velvet killers" deals with the notorious so-called Orlík Murders from the early 1990s. This case is considered as the biggest criminal case of the post-communist era in the Czech Republic. The group of five members killed five people, mainly for the money, between the years 1991 and 1993. Three of their victims were found in the Orlík Dam - two corpses were sealed in metal barrels and one was hidden in a mesh. The murderers were sentenced in 1997 after a four-year-long investigation. The movie called Velvet killers or The New Breed, which was directed by Jiří Svoboda, is based on these true events. This thesis focuses on the TV version of this motion picture and then also on the reviews published after the movie was released in 2005. This thesis mainly wants to reflect how the Czech media - specifically newspapers and television news - informed about this criminal case in analysed years from 1995 to 1997. The determining factor is the accuracy of the information. The aim of the work is to summarize the results of reporting on this case, which is still considered as one of the most brutal in the history of our country.

The thesis focuses on two criminal cases and their film renditions. It introduces the reader to the cases of Frank Lucas and George Jung on the basis of period testimonies, informations from media and the biographies of the two felons. The thesis sheds light on real parallels in their personal lives as well as their professional lives and explains the differences in their operations, including the time after their release. The thesis intentionally focuses not only on the activities that got them to court but their personal lives as well. Those are especially important to the part of the text that focuses on the film renditions of their lives. The movies, American Gangster and Blow are being dissected based on the dramaturgical decisions, the narrative and the praise they have been given by journalists and general public.
Analysis of the Monthly Magazine Roš chodeš (1990-2015)

The aim of this diploma thesis Analysis of Rosh chodesh (1990-2015) is to analyze the Jewish monthly magazine Rosh chodesh in the specific period of 1990-2015, and make a comparison with another Jewish magazine Maskil. The theoretical part provides general information about the Jewish media and life in the First Czechoslovak Republic, the Second World War and the Communist era. The practical part of my thesis brings the detailed description of the journal's history, purpose, graphic design, columns, journalist committee, authors, distribution and the way of financing. Quantitative analysis of the Rosh chodesh and Maskil gives an insight into the development of both periodicals during 2005-2015 in comparison with the previously conducted research. The changes in the composition, structure and the editing system are captured. More than 1 504 coding units were the subject to detailed analysis. Moreover, there is also the general research dealing with the Czech Jewish Media and selected international media together with a concise content analysis
