Care of senior in special education

Study of Children with Cochlear Implants

This diploma paper is a summary of my knowledge and experience from ten-year observation of a child with a cochlear implant. The child was one of the first implanted children in the Czech Republic. The observation started during the nursery school attendance, then continued at the basic school and will be finished in the first year of the practical school. I was interested in child's language, personal development in school and family environment, including interpersonal relation. The theoretic part of this theses covers a brief history of the cochlear implants, their technology and possibilities and introduces selection candidates of the candidate for implantation. It handles also with methodology of subsequent rehabilitation. The practical part includes description of logopaedia therapy process in the context of the complex therapeutic incidence. The title of this diploma thesis is " Complex Educational Programme of The Family Centre for Children with Various Kinds of Disability." The text deals with creation of the new type of institution, so-called Family Centre. Its aim is to contribute to the integration of disabled people into the society. The Family Centre will be an open institution, where families with disabled children will have an opportunity to meet each other. The idea of the integration will be realized in the form of café with playroom which will be adapted to needs of disabled children. The special educational care for children with various kinds of disability will be ensured. Next, the paper deals with particular parts of programme which The Family Centre will offer to its clients.

Metoda: Průzk:umné šetření bylo provedeno u organizacích pro sluchově postižené, na Úřadu práce hlavního města Prahy a u dotázaných sluchově postižených respondentů. Metoda průzk:umného šetření byla provedena formou dotazníku a standardizovaného, řízeného rozhovoru. V první části šetření byla položena organizacím sluchově postižených osob jediná připravená otázka. Zde byla zvolena metoda standardizovaného, řízeného rozhovoru. Ve druhé části šetření byla použita metoda nestruk:turovaného dotazníku. Úřad práce hlavního města Prahy odpovídal na čtyři otázky. Ve třetí části šetření byl použit strukturovaný dotazník. Respondenti odpovídali na dvanáct uzavřených a polozavřených otázek, jejichž součástí byly přesné instrukce k vyplnění. Children with Cochlear Implants and their Enrolment in Schools

The topič of my thesis is 'The problém of cochlear implantation in children and their inclusion in different types of elementary schools'. The first theoretical part deals with all elements around the process of cochlear implantation in the Czech republic. It is a relatively new and difficult subject which develops quickly and brings very important and interesting results. A child with a cochlear implant can be placed into schools for children with severe hearing disorders or mainstream kinds of schools, which gives evidence about how successful a cochlear implantation and a following rehabilitation can be. This is the reason why i am also interested in the subject of elementary education of children with cochlear implants. In the practical part of this thesis, i analyse the situation of placing of pupils with cochlear implants into different types of elementary schools, from the view point of selected factors which have a significant role for the asset of cochlear implants, for the life of the user. I survey the utilisation of cochlear implants by children firom the view point of their school placing. Hospitalized Hearing-impaired Children

The aim of this thesis is to deseribe the actuality of care of children with hearing handicap, who are hospitalized in hospital establishments in Czech republic. I would like to advert a speciál attention to communication between interested organs. Communication personate a meaningful role in child adaptation on occurred situation in medical process. In theoretical part of thesis I would like to work with scientifíc literature and in addition with handbooks and internet pages, which are designed for people working in health services, parents and community, and which contain a quantity of practical and certified experiences. The practical section of thesis will be a stitched book designed for children incoming to hospital. In this stitched book should be explain the most common investigations in adequate way, which might meet child during his/her stay in hospital. Education in Hearing for Hearing-Impaired Children in Cyprus

The subject of my diplomatic project is the reeducation of children with acoustic loss in Cyprus. I chose this subject because I believe that by exercising the acoustic sense with sound, is very important for the ability of speech and that is very helpful to communicate with other persons. In the theoretical part of my diplomatic project I will present and develop the school systém of Cyprus and mainly the speciál education based on the Law for the Training and Education of Children with Speciál Needs 113(I)/1999. Additionally, theoretical part refers to the hearing and its problems. Also in finál chapter of this part I refer to reeducation and meaning of the acoustic sense and how the schools of Cyprus take action in the education of the children with hearing looses. For the practical part of my diplomatic project I have prepared a questionnaire which I distributed to a number of parents of deaf children in Cyprus.
