Svobodová, Zuzana ; Semotanová, Eva (advisor) ; Hojda, Zdeněk (referee)
This thesis is a contribution to the still not fully explored historical-geographical aspect of regional chronicles - Memories of F. J. Vavák, neighbour and mayor of Milčice. The content of the first two chapters is Vavák's bibliography and introduction of the most important domestic and international contemporary events and affairs for easier understanding of the conditions and circumstances of the genesis of both main sources. Main chapter then presents the image of the region pictured both in Vavák's Memoirs and the First Military Mapping. As the memoirs is the very extensive source, it was necessary to choose "the overarching aspects," whereby is observed the image of the region. Based on the significant features of the memoirs was chosen following terms historical-geographical, social-topographical, economic, cultural, climatological and historical. Individual aspects were sequentially analyzed and documented by examples from Memories or the text part of the First Military Mapping. Comparing the mentioned sources was found, that those at first sight very different...

The Relief and its Changes by Landscape Design Activities of the Czernin's Family
Šantrůčková, Markéta ; Lipský, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Chromý, Pavel (referee) ; Semotanová, Eva (referee)
The presented thesis deals with assessment of landscaping and with the opportunities for making use of natural relief during setting up of landscape gardens. The assessment has been done based on studies of the relevant matter in model locations, then the acquired facts have been generalized. Landscape gardens form an indispensable part of the landscape as such. Gardens mix, in a specific way and inseparably, influences of natural environment with anthropogenic impacts. The natural environment changes into landscape gardens mainly by means of diverse forms of relief. At the same time, relief was not just passively taken as a basis for starting a park, it was actively being changed, spending not a small amount of money and effort. What is typical of terrain changes in landscape gardens is that these changes, striking to whatever degree, were meant to be hidden to viewers, and that they copied natural lines and shapes. Geographical research topics in landscape gardens concentrate mainly on finding to what degree the natural relief was used and changed, and what impact it had on the form and creation of the parks. In the presented work methods leading to a thorough understanding of terrain changes were used. The main part of the work was to analyze maps in GIS systems, to study historical documents,...
Czech Provinces and their Development in the Historical Geographical Context
Marečková, Jitka ; Semotanová, Eva (advisor) ; Ebelová, Ivana (referee)
Regional administration in Bohemia originated already in the Middle Ages and has survived till these days as an basic constituent of the state administration. Cartographical material, especially maps of provinces, which has been so far rather neglected, is very interesting and important source for the cognition of the development of Czech provinces. These maps have been issued since the 18th century and especially in the earlier period had been widely used by general public. The only list of these documents "Soupis map českých zemí" compiled by František Roubík provides outdated and inconsistent informations. The primary aim of this work is to provide a more detailed list of these maps in the form of a catalog and bring more informations on the various creators and publishers of the maps.

Decade of fusions, separations and territorial boundaries changes of municipalities of political district Smíchov 1919-28
Boubín, Jiří ; Hlavačka, Milan (advisor) ; Semotanová, Eva (referee)
Předmětem předkládané práce jsou územní změny v obcích, jeden z neprávem poněkud opomíjených feno-ménů první republiky. Přitom se jednalo o jev v této době v českých zemích velice rozšířený, ba mohli bychom říci masový. I když počty realizovaných sloučení, rozloučení a změn obvodů obcí v prvním desetiletí existence samostatného československého státu jdou do stovek a dokonce se blíží až k magické tisícovce, nebyla jim do-sud věnována patřičná pozornost.
