Liberated Theatre in a culturogical perspective
Zachová, Kateřina ; Czumalo, Vladimír (advisor) ; Matějů, Martin (referee)
Liberated theatre is specific, Czech theatre formation, it is specific in the whole Czech cultural context. Many works were released on this subject, begins with the materials produced by theatre itself and ends with the expert works. In our thesis, we tried by the compilation of the work from the field of theatrical history and theory, history of society, political history and texts about social climate of the period, in which Liberated theatre acted, to look at this formation in its integrity. Every theatre exists in the space and in the time, which define its character, and conversely, the theatre defines the character of the period and the society, in which it acts. This fact counts double on Liberated theatre. Therefore, this work looks at the creative activities of Liberated theatre as at the cultural feature, which is situated to the political and social conditions. It deals with the three basic persons of the theatre, describes its history and evolution, arts forms and technical instruments, which were used by the theatre. Also it refers the message, which was notified to the society by the central comic pair, and it takes a think about the live heritage of Liberated theatre to the present.
Hundred years of Czech and Moravian wine culture trough the journal "Wine horizont"
Kollárová, Klára ; Czumalo, Vladimír (advisor) ; Matějů, Martin (referee)
In my diploma work the ma in subject of interest is wine. Wine is certainly part of culture and so represents an excellent culturological problem. During my sommelier career I have noticed that wine is not only drink but can have very different meanings. It has influenced our culture, history, aesthetics and arts, religion and theology, economics and trade, habits and everyday life too. In this paper I study wine phenomenon through the journal ,Wine Horizon' which is the only wine magazine that constantly appeares in Czech and Moravian lands from 1907. Written form is also excellent material for culturological research. In my work I compared five different annual volumes of this journal with approx. 25 years gaps. It allowed me to compare what were the most discussed themes in each year, what were (if there were any) the common subjects and which were different ones. I have selected 12 cathegories of different aspects of wine (wine growing and cellaring, history of wine, wine abroad, wine laws, serving wine, wine and food and so on, women and wine) and went through the journal and searched for any comments about and compared notions about these in different volumes. The main idea was to find whether a journal writting about such ,culturological' subject is actually refering about it from different points of...
Courtly dance in Italy's early Renaissance period
Doležalová, Kateřina ; Czumalo, Vladimír (advisor) ; Matějů, Martin (referee)
The thesis is focused on courtly dancing in Italy in the early modem period. The work endeavours to survey its role in the fifteenth-century society, where it occured for the first time at the no ble courts. The general layout of the thesis is based on the assumption that dancing was one ofthe essential attributes ofthe nascent courtly society ofthe renaissance. The work consists of two parts: the first part examines the roots that were the foundation ofthe progression ofthe fifteenth-century society towards full-blown renaissance culture. There were two basic kinds of influence: one was the ancient Greek and Roman cultures, where dance was seen as a common part of life. The other was the Bible and its medieval Christian interpretations, which in its extreme aspects considered dancing to be one of the capital sins. Before integrating these antitheses, there was an acute conflict in society, which is clearly demonstrated by the attitude towards dancing in the period in question. The second part of the thesis addresses different roles of dancing in the fifteenth-century society and its ambition as an instrument of official demonstration of political power, noble entertainment and theatrelike spectacle. The reconstruction of life, works and dance theories of the first dancing masters show which functions it...
The theory and methodology of culturologic research of public space

A myth in the perspective of a cultural theory (Egyptian myth of Usir and Scandinavian myth of Baldr)
Herrmannová, Nela ; Czumalo, Vladimír (advisor) ; Matějů, Martin (referee)
This cultural-historical work deals with the analysis of myth, being the core of spiritual culture and culturologist interpretation. The aim of this work is to focus on the Royal Egyptian myth which is one of the oldest myths at all. Further, the work is going to compare this myth with the Scandinavian myth about Balder. Finally, the goal iof this work is to explain the role that mythology had in times of its blossom, when it was actually lived, and what does it mean for people today, in the 'demiraclenized' and overmodernized world. At the same time the work argues with some technical sources and thus brings another detailed interpretation of the myths. Apparently, the comparison of two myths, distant in both time and place, endorses Joseph Campbell's opinion about the unity of human spirit and claiming that our human fantasy and imagination underwent a similar development, despite different cultures and surroundings. The main goal of this work is to demonstrate by various examples the meaning and role of mythology in human mind and to confirm its adaptability function by analysis of two affinitive myths. This analysis offers some further conclusions concerning the unity of human mind. Apart from what has been said above the author also concentrates on a theoretical contemplation on myth as a drama topic....

Kittl, Adam ; Soukup, Václav (advisor) ; Matějů, Martin (referee)
The problem of public space lS a comprehensive task, which does not response just to questions connected to human evolution and to the institution of public/common space - during the whole period of human progress. It is also widely connected to many human sciences of today life. On one side the culture stands as a typical mode of human adaption gradually movlllg from all-nature environment to typically human level. At this point the development of our own human space and its institutionalizing ln a framework of culture mechanisms distinctively contributed to human evolution and to the progress of human culture in general. On a platform of public space, most of what we consider as typically human was set. By the advent of fire, for the first time /and for good/ humans detach themselves against the na ture, pu tting them to final d uali ty o f h umans v s. nature. The primeval fire places became a central point of those communities. On those bases new abiological solutions were developed. This new world of our ancestors which we can call home - is c10sely connected to symbolic thinking, self-presentation and VlSlons or ideas, linked directly to the primitive meanlllg of the surrounding world of our predecessors.
