My Bachelor Thesis deals with the status in a student group of boys who possess unmasculine behaviours, apperace and characteristics. I studied how pupils, both girls and boys and teachers behave towards unmasculine boys, how these boys are accepted, or not, into groups, and how boys with unmasculine characteristics experience their status in a group of pupils. Process of coming out with the emphasis on relationship between parents and gay children
Chrástecká, Antonie ; Smetáčková, Irena (advisor) ; Kadlecová, Eva (referee)
Our society is often divided into two halves - women and men. Gender norms presuppose that femininity and masculinity co-exist in a complementary fashion. Biological essentialism suggests that this complementariness also extends into the area of sexuality. Heterosexuality is expected from each individual and is considered the norm. Human sexuality, however, is much more diverse. Upon discovering his homosexual orientation, a man begins the process of "coming- out", which consists of five phases. In ideal cases, the man accepts his homosexuality and confides in other people, such as his parents. The parents must then undergo a process of their own, reconciling the homosexuality of their child and accepting a new outlook for his future. The coming-out process may or may not affect the relationship between parents and children. Research, executed within this Bachelor's work, has brought interesting findings concerning the coming out. I led conversations with homosexuals about the coming out process, and their parents (or parent) have filled in the question form. Then I compared it. The research brought general view on the coming out process, primarily from the family point of view, and it has also confirmed that the gender order affects many areas in our lives and creates differences between women and...
