Experimental Investigation of the Anode Area in the Hybrid Water-Gas DC Arc Plasma Torch
Ondáč, Peter ; Hrabovský, Milan (advisor) ; Pekárek, Stanislav (referee) ; Bartlová, Milada (referee)
This thesis focuses on an experimental study of the anode area of the hybrid water- gas DC arc plasma torch that is used in many industrial applications, including plasma spraying, hydrocarbon reforming, pyrolysis, and organic waste gasification. The effects of ambient pressure and plasma generation conditions on the torch's plasma jet were studied, with particular focus on the torch's anode area. Movement of the anode arc attachment is described in detail, including its speed, range of its motion on the anode surface, restrike periods, and the frequency of its many sudden decelerations and re-accelerations. It was found that the anode erosion can be compared relatively simply by quick processing of high-speed camera videos. The anode erosion was also measured directly. Many electric probe measurements were made in the anode area of this plasma torch for the first time. By using these electric probes, shock waves, turbulent vortices, and plasma potential fluctuations were studied directly. It was found that a mean plasma electric field and a mean plasma electrical conductivity in the anode area can be satisfactorily estimated also non-intrusively by quick processing of high-speed camera videos. Moreover, schlieren videos of the plasma jet in the anode area were created. 1
attributes of corporeality
Lukešová, Eva ; Bartlová, Milena (referee) ; Gabriel, Michal (advisor)
My thesis titled Attributes of corporeality is a continuation of my thinking on the topic of identity. Now I approach identity as a category, not as an identity that belongs to a particular person. I consider the question of how is identity shaped in a postmodern, globalized world and how is it related to corporeality. My answer is based on the reality I know, on the current state of society. However, the intention of my work is above all to express my idea, which is rather a utopian scenario than anything else.

Egon Bondy and his atheism. The comparation of his academical and belletristic works.
Dundáčková, Petra ; Bartlová, Milena (advisor) ; Nešpor, Zdeněk (referee)
This study is based on comparative analysis of (un)faith in the literary and academic works of the writer and philosopher Egon Bondy. The aim of this research is to find out how much he was actually an avowed atheist and what differences are in the concept of transcendence in the philosophical and literary works. The study is divided into three sections. The first section is devoted to the theoretical framework, the second section pays attention to Bondy's biography and the third section concerns the analysis and comparison of his philosophical and literary works. The theoretical first section primarily deals with Ricœur's comparison of narrative in history and philosophy presented in a monograph Time and Narrative, which is analogously used for the comparison of literature and philosophy. An important fact is that Bondy's literary work is characterized by significant autobiographical features and stands on the border between literature and philosophy. The second section deals with the life of Egon Bondy and his work in the underground environment. The third section pays attention to the main lines of the selected works (Philosophical work I.-II., Nepovídka) and there is a comparison of texts based on a content analysis. The result is the finding of a high similarity of expressed ideas. Bondy...
Visual Art in the Housing Estates of Brno (1945–1989)
Kořínková, Jana ; Bartlová, Milena (referee) ; Hrůša, Petr (referee) ; Chamonikolasová, Kaliopi (advisor)
With special attention being paid to the development in the city of Brno, the dissertation focuses on the issue of applying artworks in Czechoslovak architecture after World War II. The main research questions – Why were in Czechoslovakia after 1945 artworks again integrated in architecture and what strategies were applied in the case of the newly built housing estates in the city of Brno? – are answered in two successive sections. First, the institutional background for application of art in architecture in the light of the events in Brno (1945–1993) is examined; the closing part is devoted to three case studies that illustrate local development in the period of socialist realism, creative release of the1960s and political normalization. The aim is to highlight the complexity of the examined subject and refute a popularly handed down conviction that integration of artworks into architecture in the period of socialism was motivated exclusively by the communist propaganda, and to show that the attempts to create a synthesis of art and architecture were also based both on earlier theoretical considerations about the educational function of art and its effect on humans and the need to improve poor economic situation of artists after World War II.
The Chronicles of the Triforium of the Cathedral of St. Vitus at Prague Castle
Electrical features of barrier discharge for microorganism sterilization
Bernát, Jan ; Pfeifer, Václav (referee) ; Bartlová, Milada (advisor)
This thesis deals with barrier discharge through gases from the point of view of electrical attributes and processes that, which are going on in a discharge. The research of a discharge itself is preceded by theoretical discourse about plasma and its attributes and basic information about barrier discharge. Second part deals with processing measured data on an experimental device and is followed by making deduction. The main role is relating instantaneous power P[W] and power drain Pel[W] to supply voltage. Nitrogen and argon gases were used and the experimental measuring device was set in different configuration of gas flow velocity, distance between electrodes, used frequency of a supply voltage and its different level. An algorithm decribing proceding with another data measuring is described in this thesis. The scope of the thesis does not allow for thorough examining of each aspect, which was measured or deduced from data analysis. However the the thesis addresses these aspects and suggests further research.
Radiation Transfer of Energy in Arc Plasma
Calculation of Standard Thermodynamic Functions of Simple Compounds under Thermal Plasma Conditions
Živný, Oldřich ; Bartlová, Milada (referee) ; Křenek, Petr (referee) ; Krčma, František (advisor)
The substance of present work is to provide standard thermodynamic functions (STF) of small size molecules for the calculation of the composition and thermodynamic properties of low-temperature plasma, and also method for such a calculation applying obtained STF under non-ideal plasma conditions. With a view to further application in modelling the phenomena in thermal plasma the range of pressures is limited to the region from 0.01 bar to 100 bar, and that of temperature to 298.15–50 kK. To obtain STF the method of partition function resulting from statistical mechanics was proposed. State of art in the given scientific area and theoretical basis of the statistical mechanics required for establishing of the proposed method together with discussion of partition function divergence problem have been reviewed. For the calculation of STF of diatomic molecules the method of direct summation has been employed, whereas, as for the larger size molecules, the rigid rotor and harmonic oscillator model have been generally adopted. The spectral data required for the calculations have been taken from literature, or, in selected cases, these have been computed by quantum chemistry ab initio techniques. The resulting STF have been included into already existing database system of thermodynamic properties and those can serve as input data for subsequent thermodynamic calculations. A general method has been worked out for the purpose of the computation of thermodynamic properties and composition of non-ideal homogenous plasma system in thermodynamic equilibrium. The method is based on minimizing total Gibbs energy to compute at constant pressure or Helmholtz energy to compute at constant volume. The computation algorithm was implemented into computer program and subsequently applied to the computation of the composition and thermodynamic properties of SF6 dissociation and ionization products using obtained STF.
