Vlasáková, Zuzana ; Janovec, Ladislav (advisor) ; Chejnová, Pavla (referee) ; Holanová, Radka (referee)
Résumé This thesis under the title Linguistic Representation of National Stereotypes in Czech Media and the Application of Cognitive Aspects in Teaching Czech deals with which national stereotypes (about Romani, Vietnamese and Russians) are present in the samples selected from Czech media and how these stereotypes are linguistically represented. The paper is based on the presumption that despite the principle of political correctness present in most of the journalists' code of ethics, it is not possible to avoid some manifestations of shared fixed images of nationalities (called stereotypes) in media. Furthermore, we argue that the media image of the world is based on the Linguistic Image of the World. The theoretical basis of the cognitive linguistics, especially the Prototype/Stereotype Theory and categorization as the way of understanding and assorting the world, were the main methodological sources. There is a chapter on each analysed national group that depicts the means of its categorization and lists the particular categories that ensued from the analysis, as well as the stereotypes that were discovered in the surveyed sample. This thesis also deals with the application of aspects of cognitive linguistics in Czech language lessons (not only), as well as the possibilities of working with national...

Foralová, Michaela ; Hájková, Eva (advisor) ; Janovec, Ladislav (referee)
This thesis focuses on 375 minor place-names (hydronyms, oronyms and land names) in the region of Žďársko. The origin of 185 anoikonyms is studied from a linguistic aspect for the first time; the other names are taken from my bachelor thesis. The objective of this thesis is to determine the origin of given minor place-names. The required information was searched in various printed materials, journals and also on the Internet. As an important source for examination several local witnesses have been interviewed and consultation with experts in onomastic was conducted. Methods such as collection, analysis and interpretation of the collected data were used in this thesis. Consequently, after the origin was clarified, the anoikonyms were analyzed according to the so called model theory - it was assigned to individual relational and structural models or types. This thesis aims for systematical approach to minor place-names and their preservation for future generations.

Bělohlávková, Kateřina ; Janovec, Ladislav (advisor) ; Palkosková, Olga (referee)
7. SUMMARY This diploma thesis The information value and acceptability of forecasting is divided into a theoretical and a practical part. In the theoretical part the forecasting is described as a product of television newscast. I deal with the fact of forecasting entering the media communication. I deal with the information value that forecasts bring and show the way a piece of information is transferred from a producer to an addressee relating to the process of coding and decoding. I describe the acceptability of forecasts and its elements influencing comprehension. In relation to acceptability, textual linguistics is discussed in a separated subchapter. The last theoretical part deals with semiotics and semantics. These disciplines deal mainly with meaning and sings and that is the reason why they are not important only in the theoretical part but also in an analyzing part of this thesis. The analyzing part is based on semiotic survey analysis dealing with individual components of forecasts (visual, audio and audio-visual). The aim of this thesis is to find out which of components of forecasting brings the highest information value to respondents and which is best comprehensible for addressees. Škanderová, Adéla ; Janovec, Ladislav (advisor) ; Chejnová, Pavla (referee)
The bachelor thesis deals with a lingvistic picture of the world of the particular somatisms, namely the components of the digestive system (stomach, bile, gall bladder, heartburn, intestine). The theoretical part covers the term cognition, cognitive science and, logically, cognitive linguistics. Furthermore, it includes the indispensable and key topics which have to be taken into account to understand the concept of the linguistic picture of the world, i.e. conceptualization, categorization, metaphor, anthropocentrism etc. The practical part is interested in the real occurence of the somatisms in various language contexts. In particular, their occurence in collocations, phraseology and idiomatic expressions. The analysis is based on the profile theory and its image schema. The lingustic backround is supplemented with the psychosomatic knowledge because it appears to be a helpful science branch while completing and considering the possible connection between the occurence of somatism in the language of the specific culture and extralinguistic reality.
