The Role of Cultural Studies as a Mediator of Intercultural Learning in Foreign Language Teaching, Particularly in German as a Foreign Language
Nečasová, Pavla ; Kouřimská, Milada (advisor) ; Höppnerová, Věra (referee) ; Váňová, Miroslava (referee)
It is evident that with the current political and economic situation in Europe inter-cultural communication is a necessity. A tool in the process of communication is Ianguage; in a multicultural Europe this means the languages of the particular nationalities. This fact increases the importance of Ianguage education with the goal of creating communication competence. The creation of communication skills and habits is more effective if it reflects real communication situations, ones which are connected to the needs of providing and receiving information. In the process of Ianguage learning, two things should be involved, Ianguage learning itself and also studying generál cultural knowledge. For this reason, foreign Ianguage teaching today is founded on a principle of integration. This principle assumes the complex character of foreign Ianguage learning, and therefore in the current didactics of. foreign languages, together with Ianguage knowledge, points out the importance of sociolinguistic and inter-cultural knowledge and skills which help one to learn the foreign Ianguage, so students can adequately communicate without any misunderstandings. This knowledge and these skills should be preformed and learned through cultural studies. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)

Højskole and their specifics in the Danish educational system
Laudová, Marika ; Kolář, Zdeněk (referee) ; Váňová, Miroslava (advisor)
This Thesis provides a short analysis of theory, history, and practice of the so-called folkehjskole (folk high schools) that represents a Danish contribution to pedagogy with worldwide importance. Those schools resulted from the social and cultural climate in Denmark as well as from the intellectual creativity of the churchman, philosopher, historian, member of parliament, and bard N.F.S. Grundtvig as well as of the pedagogue and organizer Ch. Kold. The first one was founded in 1844 in Rdding, North Schleswig. The political situation after the war between Prussia and Denmark and the need to improve the education and competence of rural youth to develop their farms provided an impetus for those schools as well. Those free schools were run on new principles, independently from the state school system, and influenced very positively the development and democratization of Danish society. After some time elapsed, similar schools were founded in the whole Scandinavia, to lesser extent in other European countries, in some Scandinavian and other communities in the USA, during the recent years in some developing countries. Lifelong education, supported by those schools, is providing inspiration for the contemporary European Union, as testified by the Grundtvig programme. The intellectual foundations, organization...
