Quality of life in multiple sklerosis patients

Roztrousemi skleroza je zavazne onemocneni, ktere postihuje predevsim mladsi lidi. Na samem zacatku produktivniho veku jsou tedy pacienti konfrontovani s moznou hrozbou invalidniho duchodu. Podobne je ohrozeno nebo ztizeno materstvi. RS ohrozuje nejenom schopnost pohybu, ale take brani seberealizaci pacientu a ztezuje jejich spolecenske kontakty, protoze musi resitjine problemy nezjejich vrstevnici. Onemocneni RS je take u velke casti pacientu spojeno s uzkosti z dalSiho vYvoje, ktery nelze nijak predvidat. Zvlaste pro pacienty, kteri se diagnozu dozvedeli teprve nedavno, znamena tato nemoc nejistotu, ohrozeni planu do budoucnosti a pocit vyclenenosti ze skupiny vrstevniku nebo pratel, znamych a kolegu. V prvnich letech od stanoveni diagnozy nezpusobuje RS u vetSiny pacientu zadne viditelne postizeni, 0 to vetSi pocit nepochopeni ze strany okoli vsak mohou zazivat. Pro vetSinu lidi totiz tato nemoc znamena hlavne pohybove omezeni, a nechapou problemy jako jsou neurologicke bolesti, tres, unava nebo potize s rovnovahou. Dopad na kvalitu zivota tedy muze byt u RS znacny i presto, ze pacient zatim nepocit'uje zadne nebo jen male fyzicke postizeni. Coping strategies of women with breast cancer

The objectives of the thesis "Coping strategies of women with breast cancer" w ere to d etermine t he c oping s trategies u sed b y women w ith b reast cancer, to explore relationship between copmg strategies and sociodemographic variables, between cop ing strategies and the type of therapy, between coping strategies and the life satisfaction, and to compare results with data from other studies. The sample consisted of 62 women diagnosed with breast cancer and treated in two hospitals (Onkologický Ústav Nová Ves pod Pleší, and Nemocnice Beroun) from 1110/2005 to 30/312006. Participants were surveyed by means of a demographic data sheet, the Ways of Coping Questionnaire and the Life Satisfaction Questionnaire. The comparison with other studies indicated that the results are quite similar. The most commonly used coping strategy among women with breast cancer is Seeking sodal support and the least common strategy is Accepting responsibility. Yet, there was one difference: the use of the Escape-Avoidance strategy was higher among our sample patients than among women included in compared studies. Sexuality and sexual behaviour in patients with bulimia neurosa

The authors deal with Sexual Behavior in Eating Disorders, especially in patiens with Bulimia Nervosa. In patiens with Eating Disorders we observe distortion of body image and negative affeetive evaluation of one's own body and personality, like a eommon symptoms. We assumed, the symptoms may influenee bulimie patienť s sexuality and sexual behavior. On the other side, we assumed the speeifie psyehosexual development, sexual experienees in ehildhood and personality features in bulimie patients ean also be a reason of Eating Disorder. Our question is: What is the sexuality and sexual behavior in bulimie patiens? We present our researeh on women, who are nowadays treated for Bulimia Nervosa. We speeially foeus on Coital Debut, Masturbation, Sexual Aetivities with a Sexual Partner, Sexual Exeitement, Sexual Disorders, Number of Sexual Partners, Sexual Orientation and Sexual Satisfaetion. In eomparison to normal ezeeh population in age 18-29 years, we observe these differenees. Patients have had a first relationship at higher age, they also have had a higher number of relatonships and higher number of sexual partners. Behavioral pattern as a suspected risc of the development of specific diseases

V kasuistikách ani prostřednictvím dotazníkových metod jsme nezjistily nijak výraznou a plošně se vyskyttijící přítomnost specifických typů chování či jiných behaviorálních determinant, popisovaných v teoretické části práce. Zkoumaný soubor se vyznačoval výraznou interindividuální specifitou vzhledem k možným intervenujícím behaviorálním proměnným. Společným rysem by teoreticky mohlo být zatljetí profesionálním životem spolu s nízkým výskytem protektivních zájmových činností. Žádné specifické psychické dekompenzace jsme u osob z výběrového souboru globálně nezaznamenali. Častěji se vyskytoval obecný pocit osobní nepohody s individuálním sycením jejích negativních průvodních znaků. Vzhledem k dosavadní absenci jednoznačné odpovědi na otázku vztahu typu chováni a psychosociálních determinant ke zdraví člověka, stejně jako uceleného teoretického přístupu k této problematice jsme zastánci následujícího postupu v psychologické a lékařské praxi: Primární i sekundární péče by se měla soustředit na snížení miry škodlivého vlivu různých aspektů negativní emotivity a chování s ohledem na genetické dispozice jedince. The Effect of Personal Causality Orientation on Adherence in Outpatient Physiotherapy

(in English) This master thesis deals with themes of motivations and compliance to treatment recommendations in outpatient physiotherapy. In the theoretical section it brings an introduction to the issue of adherence as a part of medical rehabilitation. It sheds some light on the importance of the research in this field and structures its span according to prescribed diagnoses and other criteria. It also shows distinctions in concepts of compliance, concordance and adherence and summarizes the findings of the most relevant directions of motivation research in this area of study. The aim of the empirical part is to capture relations between the distribution of patients' personal causality orientation and their adherence to treatment. Based on the results of a DOPO method, self-assessment of adherence and evaluation of adherence by the treating physiotherapist, from the sample of 69 patients it concludes, that there is no statistically significant relation between the aforementioned variables.

Depresive symptoms of patients with revmatoid arthritis

Nemoci pohybového aparátu, revmatické nemoci, patří meZI nejrozšířenější choroby na světě. Revmatoidní artritida pak představuje jednu Z více než 200 revmatických chorob. Jedná se o onemocnění chronické, invalidizující, s výrazně negativními dopady na fYzické funkční schopnosti, ale i psychický a sociální život nemocného. Revmatoidní artritida závažným způsobem zasahuje do života nemocného a mění jeho kvalitu. Obtíže spojené s touto chorobou většinou sice nepředstavují přímé ohrožení života, ale jsou trvalou celoživotní zátěží pro pacienta i jeho okolí. Lidé s revmatoidní artritidou proto často trpí i různými emočními obtížemi, mezi kterými dominují depresivní symptomy. Ukazuje se, že lidé s artritidou trpí depresivními obtížemi dvakrát častěji než běžná populace. U nemocných s revmatoidní artritidou deprese nepředstavuje jen další nesnáz související s jejich chorobou, ale významným způsobem zasahuje do způsobů, jak vnímají a vyrovnávají se svými fYzickými obtížemi a také jak spolupracují při jejich léčbě. V poslední době se proto v zahraničních odborných studiích tématu psychologických aspektů revmatoidní artritidy dostává více pozornosti.
