Mléčná užitkovost holštýnského skotu
Zapletalová, Lenka
The bachelor thesis focuses on the milk yield of Holstein cattle. The aim of the thesis was to focus on the issue of milk yield and characteristics of the Holstein breed. The first part of the thesis describes problems related to the characteristics and composition of cow's milk and collagen, mammary gland (mammary gland growth and development, mammary gland physiology and anatomy), factors influencing dairy yield, milk performance evaluation and characteristics of the breed. The second part of the thesis focuses on the characteristics of the holding, the characteristics of the herd being studied and the evaluation of the dairy cow performance in Dubická agricultural joint-stock company. In conclusion, it has been found that milk performance has changed over the years. For the period 04/2016 - 03/2017 and 04/2017 - 03/2018, changes in the length of time, protein and fat content, fat and milk yields occurred. Of these indicators, the period has the greatest impact on milk production. In the lactation order, it has been found that increasing lactation rates increase milk yield in the amount of milk.
Environmental influences on the shape of ultraviolet signals in genus Gonepteryx (Lepidoptera, Pieridae).
Pecháček, Pavel ; Kleisner, Karel (advisor) ; Zapletalová, Lenka (referee) ; Vrabec, Vladimír (referee)
Like many other animals, butterflies are able to visually perceive the ultraviolet (UV) light; many species even have patterns on their wings which are visible in this part of the electromagnetic spectrum. Over the last forty years, it has been shown that these UV patterns play an important role in behaviour of many butterflies, especially in relation to sexual selection - they are involved in the process of recognising a suitable mate, and likely can signal some of the mate's qualities, such as its age, ability to handle stressful environmental factors, or efficiency in foraging. The patterns may also be used for taxonomical purposes. This dissertation thesis contains a comprehensive research into ultraviolet patterns of the Gonepteryx brimstones, with a primary focus on the issue of environmental influences in relation to the expression of these traits, on the patterns' potential role in sexual selection, or on their evolution. It has been successfully demonstrated that UV patterns of at least some Gonepteryx species are affected by the environment to a strong degree, significantly more than the traits not involved in sexual selection. On the whole, the conclusions made by submitted publications suggest that UV patterns play a role in the sexual selection of the chosen brimstones, though it is not clear...
Who does preschool (not) help? Experience from a series of reforms to early and preschool care in Germany
Pertold, Filip ; Zapletalová, L.
This study summarizes the conclusions of academic papers on the effect of expanding institutionalized preschool childcare in Germany on children's development. The effect of preschool childcare is currently heavily debated in the Czech Republic in connection with the planned introduction of a law requiring local authorities to provide places in preschool institutions for children aged two and above.
Birds of a feather: the importance of selecting the right field of study for finding the right partner
Bičáková, Alena ; Jurajda, Štěpán ; Zapletalová, L.
Selective pairing is a tendency toward choosing a life partner with the same level of attained education, resulting in educational homogamy, a phenomenon which has been the focus of extensive research for sociologists, demographers and economists. The present study, based on a research paper by Bičáková and Jurajda (2016), looks into an as yet unexplored aspect of selective pairing: the degree of field-of-study homogamy, mapping the degree to which couples within the EU countries are formed by people who have chosen the same field of study.
Factors affecting the mental condition of seriously ill patients
Zapletalová, Lenka ; Žáčková, Hana (advisor) ; Cimrmannová, Tereza (referee)
The Bachelor thesis entitled - Factors affecting the mental condition of seriously ill patients describes an individual's mental coping ability and his fight against factors that are connected with serious illness and are significantly affecting his mental condition. The thesis brings information about important changes that affect the patient's perception about his serious diagnosis. This thesis counters the theories put forth by people who work with seriously ill patients. At the end of the thesis, I describe the selection of factors that fundamentally affect the patient's mental state and health condition which were elicited from the questions put forth in the interviews.
Teachers’ pay: consistently low and unattractive
Münich, Daniel ; Perignáthová, M. ; Zapletalová, Lucie ; Smolka, V.
The level and structure of teachers’ salaries significantly affect overall interest in the teaching profession and play a part in determining the structure of those interested in the profession. The quality of new recruits to the teaching profession in turn determines the long term quality of education and educational results in the given country. Salaries for teachers at Czech public primary schools, in a relative comparison with salaries for highly qualified employees, have long been among the lowest in the world’s thirty most developed countries. As far as teachers’ general skills are concerned, these are still relatively good in the Czech Republic compared to many other countries. This is however undoubtedly determined to a large extent on the high numbers of older teachers in the profession, who began their careers decades ago. Interest in the teaching profession among talented younger Czechs is currently very low.
The Point system and its impact on the number of fatal traffic accidents
Montag, J. ; Zapletalová, Lucie
This study summarises the results of a quantitative assessment of the impact of the points system, introduced in 2006, on the number of fatal traffic accidents in the Czech Republic. The introduction of the points system was also accompanied by legal changes that raised fines for traffic offences and broadened the transport police's powers. Initially, the number of fatal accidents dropped sharply. Injuries were reduced by 33.3%, which with 95% certainty represents between 51 and 204 lives saved. However, beyond the first year, the new law had no noticeable impact on the number of fatal accidents. Our findings indicate that the reform's negligible impact in the long term was caused by a gradual decline in resources dedicated to traffic police services in the field. Exaggerated expectations very likely contributed to the reform's significant short-term impact, as people over-estimated the possible sanctions they would face with the introduction of the new law, and drove carefully for a few weeks. Over time, they adapted their behaviour to meet the real level of monitoring and enforcement of the new rules, which was in fact low and becoming even lower. The number of fatal accidents thus returned to its original level.
