The use of biometrics in IT
Bílý, Petr ; Balada, Jakub (advisor) ; Šedivá, Zuzana (referee)
Biometrics is increasingly applied in IT (biometric methods today generally use computer technology), mostly used to authenticate users. The aim of this thesis is to describe and compare two selected biometric methods. These methods are fingerprints and scanning of human face. The contribution of this work is to provide information on biometric identification methods, their advantages and disadvantages, and deployment options. If an organization decides to strengthen their security systems with introduction of biometric identification / verification systems, they can find information about these systems, types of sensing devices and their advantages and disadvantages. This work will provide an answer WHY introdukce and use these systems to persons who are responsible for the security policy. The first part after the introduction contains basic concepts in the field of biometric identification, followed by a general overview of the stages of biometric processing (from data collection to their storage), the main areas of use of biometric identification (corporate sphere, security of persons and property, law enforcement agencies and the courts, banking and e-commerce, travel and tourism, and telecommunications), measuring performance in biometrics. Then follow the main chapters of work consisting of two chosen methods of biometric identification (fingerprints and face) and their summaries in the form of mapping advantages and disadvantages.

Sulanská, Tereza ; Šedivá, Zuzana (advisor) ; Sabolčák, Peter (referee)
RAW formats are becoming the new trend in digital photography. It is raw data which can be edited by the computer means. This way brings many advantages but also some disadvantages. Files are smaller than the TIFF format and do not lose quality like the JPEG format. Special software is necessary for editing and obtaining the highest quality images requires more time and practice. There are many programs for editing and converting RAW files on the market today, from the simplest freeware programs to the professional tools for several thousand crowns. This thesis deals with an explanation of all the advantages and disadvantages of RAW formats, describes and compares five RAW converters and a practical example demonstrates the possibility of special picture treatment methods.

Proposal for a well-use graphical user interface, data-based transactional applications
Moudrý, Vojtěch ; Šedivá, Zuzana (advisor) ; Stanovská, Iva (referee)
This thesis aims describe principles that are essential for creating data-based transaction applications. At the same time it should serve as a methodological description of the development of a particular type of applications as well as presenting the correct solution and common mistakes. The first chapters focus on explaining the concept of a graphical user interface from its inception to the present. Describes the current possibilities of the application development and explains why today is put so much emphasis on the GUI. Another part is devoted to clarify the differences in transaction data-oriented applications from other application software. It explains the basic principles of operation and points out the wrong solutions, which are in turn supplemented with correct ones. At the end of the thesis there is mentioned, from the author point of view, an ideal solution for designing application that eliminates all the shortcomings described in the previous chapters. The theoretical part is based on the available literature and author's own experience. The practical part is made up and based on author's own knowledge and skilled colleagues working in this field.
Accesses to the creation of electronical support in teaching
Rajnoch, Adam ; Šedivá, Zuzana (advisor) ; Marešová, Zdena (referee)
This thesis deals with electronical support in teaching, especially accesses to the creation of these supports. The aim of this thesis is to create a framework of rules and recommendations which would help with creation of electronical support and would offer basic information. These rules and recommendations will be created for creating elelectonical support in teaching, concretely e-learning, creation of electronical presentations, and also for screencasting. This publication is divided into four logical parts. First part is devoted to theoretical approach into field of handicaps. From nature of illnesses and handicaps result essential facts, that affects using computers by users with handicap. At the end of this section are noted appropriate ways of using computers. Second part attends to financial seriousness when buying technical resources in this field of purpose. Third section briefly describe method of evaluating products based on first part and define criterion which reflects facts of relevant handicap and at same time also demands of common human user. Fourth part concludes mapping and delivers assessment of chosen products. Publication is completed by trends and facts that affect present market with technical resources.
Computer Adaptive Testing based on Item Response Theory as a Tool for Assessment of Students' Literacy Levels
Arnhold, Martin ; Šedivá, Zuzana (advisor) ; Chadima, Zdeněk (referee)
The paper deals with the current perspective of computer aided assessment of students, particularly with computer adaptive testing based on Item Response Theory. Although this testing method has become a world standard, in the Czech Republic it is still, unfortunately, rarely used. The aim of this paper is to describe the current state of the testing techniques used and to create a functional dll library, which will provide basic functionality needed for successful launching of a Web interface for computer adaptive testing of students. In addition, the library should serve as a support to authors in developing tests based on Item Response Theory. The first part provides a basic description of educational assessment methods currently used, and gives an insight into the matters of creating professional testing tools. Other chapters depict the operation of Classical Test Theory, which is now used as a cornerstone of the test development, and further it presents Item Response Theory, as a possible successor to the Classical theory. Both theories described are compared at the end. The second part of the paper is then divided into a theoretical part, which describes the possibility of computer adaptive testing, gives and overview of its origins and development, presents essential forms, and highlights the advantages and disadvantages of this testing method. The practical part contains illustrative examples and descriptions of the methods enabled by the presented dll library.
Testing of raster to vector graphics conversion software products
Mináriková, Monika ; Šedivá, Zuzana (advisor) ; Kunstová, Renáta (referee)
This work is mainly focused on testing of software for conversion between raster and vector graphics. It is divided into two parts. In methodological part there are stated the ways of storing image data in the computer. It explains the differences among basic types of computer graphics, raster and vector, and characterizes their well-known formats. Practical part deals with testing and comparing selected SW supporting the process of tracing. Based on the results, general conclusions about the possibilities, which offer this way of automatic vectorization, are determined. For evaluating and comparing the SW multi-criteria evaluation based on a five-point scale is chosen. The parameters of the evaluation are then divided into two categories: the evaluation of the SW and the outputs from the tracing process. Four types of graphics are chosen for the tracing: a simple black-and-white logo, a full-color logo, a line drawing, and a photograph with a simple motif. The conclusion of the thesis summarizes and evaluates all the results.
