Monastery church of St. Joseph in Moravská Třebová in context of Baroque architecture

This bachelor thesis deals with architectural form of monastery church of St. Joseph in Moravská Třebová. First chapter subsumes historical facts of cloister and church and describes architecture of church. Second chapter gives a comparison with work of author, architect Jacopo Brascha, the other moravian baroque churches and especially churches and buildings near Moravská Třebová, buildings of franciscan order and buildings founded by Karel Eusebius of Liechtenštejn. Characteristics of church of St. Joseph is front without a tower and the groundplan typical of franciscan churches, but this church is a bit more decorated than usual. This thesis describes the facts and architectural appearance of this church and compares architectural conception with other Czech and Moravian baroque buildings in order to find the differences and common points.
Matti Suuronen and plastic architecture of the sixties

The main topic which the bachelor's work deals with is plastic architecture of the sixties. The aim of my endeavours was to underscore the body of work of finish architect Matti Suuronen paying greater attention to his most famous building dubbed Futuro. Additionally I made effort to put this kind of architecture into the proper historical context and once again to point to the importance of some features this comprises of. Among these traits we count especially variability, mobility, prefabrication and also shape predetermination issued from the substance of the plastics themselves. Besides Suuronen's ones, some resembling buildings are mentioned.

Anglická anotace: Czech Architecture 1939-1948. Echoes of the Functionalist Idea The bachelor thesis deals with the Czech functionalist architecture between years 1939-1948. First, it focuses on the period of occupation of the Czechoslovakia and on the influence of theoretical works written in this period on the architecture after the World War II. Subsequently, it evaluates the situation after 1945. The thesis will consider if the war experience brought any changes or revision in architecture or if architects followed the architectural ideas of interwar era. Finally, it mentions the beginning of Socialist Realism in the Czechoslovakia and therefore the end of the functional ideas newly evaluated during occupation. ANOTACE: The Influence of English Architecture in Work of Jan Kotera. The aim of this study is present influences of English architecture on the creation of Jan Kotěra. It will be explained, that Kotěra was mostly inspired by english modern domestic architecture. These influnces will be described on representative Kotěra's realizations - his early vilas, which will be compared with similar work in England. The castle Opočno - transformation of interiors

This bachelor thesis deals with the Opočno castle located in Eastern Bohemia and development of manor interiors. The first chapter introduces the town history to the reader, the development of the castle from a stronghold and its first owners. The following two chapters present two most influential dynasties in the castle history who were responsible for the todays style of the castle. Thanks to the first dynasty of Trčka, the castle earned its Renaissance style. The second dynasty of Colloredo-Mansfeld paid its attention to petite treatments of the building and of the castle interiors. Furthermore, there are chronologically introduced all members of these dynasties who became owners of the castle during a few centuries. In order to describe the development of the interiors, it is very important to have knowledge of the building development of the castle which is the theme of following chapter. From the very beginning the castle went through many essential changes and building design which influenced also its interior structures. These changes are described there in accordance with the individual style periods. The architecture in Pelhřimov at the beginning of 20th century

In work about the Architecture in Pelhřimov in the beginning of the 20 century, there is six parts. After the introduction follows a chapter about history which is divided into history of Pelhřimov, foundation of branch office of "Klub Za starou Prahu", decane František Bernard Vaněk and monument preservation in Pelhřimov.Then my work continues with chapter about unbuilt projects by architects from group "Klub Za starou Prahu", e.g. Pavel Janák's regeneration of square, Otakar Novotný's cemetary and Josef Chochol's kubistic cross. Next chapter mentions buildings which are realized by prague architects. Concretely, there is Jan Drechsel's villa, Vojtěch Fára's house and others smaller adaptations of monuments or public spaces. In Pelhřimov grew up buildings beyond control of "Klub Za starou Prahu", they are included in following chapter. There are concerned secession house of Antonín Linhart with original elements, villa of Marie Jelínková by Jan Kotrnoch, which is similar to secession rural architecture, villa of doctor Váňa, trade house of Fleischl's and Herrmanns' company and rondocubistic Masaryk's high school for boys. My diploma paper is closed by epilogue and appendix with picture of "status-quo" buildings, old photos and preserved plans.
Zdeněk Wirth, the first two periods of life

Synopsis The work covers the first two periods of life of the art historian Zdeněk Wirth. Wirth was one of the most influential figures of Czech cultural history of the first half of 20th century. He significantly infuenced domestic art history, he became one of the most active trendsetters as regards Modem Style in architecture in Bohemia, and, last but not least, he had merit in a distinct strengthening of position of the club-based and state care of historical monuments. In the period between the two World Wars Wirth was able, due to his high position, exercise influence over other areas of Czechoslovak culture and science - history, archival science, librarianship, museums, art education, intemational cultural contacts, theatre, cinema. Wide range of his activities enabled not to discuss only questions related directly to his personality, but, at the same time, to consider overall development of domestic care of historical monuments in the period in question. Taking into account Wirth's scientific and organizational activities, the work examines also intellectual development of art historical sphere in our milieu then, functioning of art historical clubs and organizations, editor' s office practice of selected art historical periodicals, theoretical foundations of domestic conservationists and...

Zikmund Reach, photographs of the old Prague. Focusing on smaller archive collections.

The master thesis "Zikmund Reach and his photographic collection" focuses on Zikmund Reach's photographs of old Prague. Firsty theis describes the history of Czech photography, which if followed by the topic of Prague's redevelopment and its influence on photography. The main topic is based on the photographic albums of "Disappeared Prague" and a extensive collection of "Prague types", which is a period, sociological reflecion of society in the second half of 19th century. Finally the thesis focuses on archives in which is the collection of Zikmund Reach stored in and their mutual thematic coherence. In conclusion the thesis focuses on the Institute of Art History Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic and its collection of photographs which come from the collection of Zikmund Reach.
Old Prague Association and its activities in the field of protection and utilization of cultural heritage

This thesis aims to evaluate more than a century of existence of the Old Prague Association. The theoretical part defines the circumstances of its origin. It also deals with the history of this association, its work in heritage protection and the methodology of its work. Attention is paid to the key successes and failures, the Old Prague Association recorded during its activity. The practical part describes the current operation of the Old Prague Association and evaluation of its activities. The following is the comparison with selected newly created organizations and projects dealing with the protection of historical monuments in Prague.
