The interreligious Dialogue and the Missionary Activity of the Church
Wojdyła, Stefan ; Pelc, Bogdan (advisor) ; Ryšková, Mireia (referee)
Résumé "The Interreligious Dialogue And Missionary Aktivity of the Church" by Stefan Wojdyla This thesis deals with the interreligious dialogue and the missionary activity of the Church. The main goal of this work is to point out the relationship between the dialogue and missionary activity, i.e. whether these two are interrelated or not. The first chapter explains basic terms, such as dialogue, religion, interreligious dialogue and missionary activities in relation to the dialogue. The second chapter gives a description of the dialogue between Christianity and Judaism. The third chapter deals with the dialogue between Christianity and Islam. The fourth and last chapter is concerned with the dialogue between Christianity and Buddhism. The Catholic Church enhances a connection between the interreligious dialogue and its missionary activity. This desire was formulated in the conciliar documents Ad Gentes and Nostra Aetate. A sincere dialogue is connected with missionary activity, because Christianity entails a desire to share Christian faith with other people. Interreligious dialogue must be the fundament of Christian missionary activity, otherwise it does not respond with the Christian identity: one cannot exist without the other. In this sense it can be stated that missionary activities and interreligious...
The question of miracles in non-christian religions
Adamczyk, Piotr ; Pelc, Bogdan (advisor) ; Ryšková, Mireia (referee)
This thesis deals with the question of miracles in non Christian religions. The idea of a miracle forms an essential part of all religions, i.e. not only in Christianity. In all faiths unusual divine interference exists. The first chapter deals with the miracle from the point of view of Catholic theology, specifically the conception of the miracle in the work of St. Augustin and St. Thomas Aquinas. Besides that, it also contains the contemporary definition of a miracle. In the second chapter a description is given of the conception of a miracle in the Old and New Testament. In the third chapter we find a presentation of ethnical faiths with their conception of a miracle (if relevant), which were performed by kings, magicians and witchmen. In the fourth chapter the question of miracle is related to two universal religions, i.e. Buddhism and Islam. These universal religions influenced the history of religion and were therefore elaborated upon separately. We should comprehend a miracle as a divine sign, which belongs to the basic conceptions of this term and does not only exist in Christianity. The history of religion confirms that in all faiths, which were studied, exist divine signs, which could be interpreted as miracles. Key words: - miracle - miracle in non-Christian religions - miracle in the...
The call of a human being to sainthood according to Lumen gentium
Recinová, Irena ; Ryšková, Mireia (advisor) ; Pelc, Bogdan (referee)
RESUME Katolická teologická fakulta Univerzity Karlovy v Praze Diplomová práce: Povolání člověka ke svatosti v intencích Lumen gentium Autorka: PhDr. Irena Recinová Vedoucí práce: Doc. PhDr. To znamenalo nové nasměrování misijního a evangelizačního úsilí církve do třetího tisíciletí.

English Annotation (The work abstract) 5 key words: The Father, The Son, The Holy Spirit, The Holy Trinity, Saint John of the Cross "The Only Father's Word" The Relationship of the Father and the Son in documents of Saint John of the Cross The author presented the life of the saint in the first part of the work with the intention to put some key events of his life to the connection with the testimony of his texts. In the next part she analyzed those texts in the documents which are devoted to the relationship of the Father and the Son. Here we mainly talk about the twenty-second chapter of the second book, the Ascent of Mount Carmel, in which " The Son is the only Father's word". The father is active only in one way - begetting the Son; the begetting itself is Love, which is The Holy Spirit. The Son loves the Father and through this love he makes the Father love, he isn't passive. In the Romances, Saint John shows how the relationship of the Father and the Son in the Spirit is realized in the creation and incarnation. The poem the Source deepens our understanding of Son and Holy Spirit's proceeding from the Father and his acting in the Eucharist. In the third and the last part of the work, she made the synthesis of the knowledge gotten by the analysis of the given texts and she came to a conclusion that the...

The heavenly council imagery in the Old Testament and its parallels in the literatures of the ancient Near East
Mikulicová, Mlada ; Oliverius, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Ryšková, Mireia (referee) ; Hruška, Blahoslav (referee)
Adopted from the cultural tradition of the Ancient Near East, the heavenly council imagery is used in the Old Testament body as a literary theme in the shape of a background image, or eikon, to support the force of the Divine statement. More developed descriptions of this minimized image are evidenced in mythological fragments of Ugaritic Baal poetry, in the Mesopotamian epic of Enuma eliš, Etana, Nergal and Ereškigal, as well as in the combined text-picture ritual literature of Egyptian necropolises. The Divine Sovereign is pictured sitting on throne among the council of his kin. The obvious judgment character of these scenes suggests the same implicit action in process in the Old Testament image. God's council sits permanently, in suprahistorical dimension, viewed through metaphor and analogy. From there the Divine statement is transmitted to a historical performer of a role defined and entrusted to him by God in His ultimate plan. The figure of God is thus shown as that of a supreme ruler and judge. The heavenly council stands in silent consent to His decision. The judged one is the earthly king in his responsibility to the Lord of the universe for carrying out administration of the land. The prophetic theology of history sees the judgment passed on Israel - God's people (Isaiah) while wisdom (Job)...
