Kunc, Kryštof ; Moravec, Václav (advisor) ; Lovaš, Karol (referee)
This bachelor thesis deals with changes in normative environment in Polish public service media after 2015, after the beginning of the party's Prawo i Sprawiedliwość (Law and Justice) rule. We have limited our research by time limit, we follow the changes up to the end of year 2016. Using the method of analysis, namely the comparative analysis of the normative environment before and after 2015, we answer questions whether and how the normative environment has changed. In addition to the use of comparative analysis, we also answer these questions using testimonies from experts from the Polish academic sphere. Our conclusion is that normative environment has changed, the reality is moving away from the ideal attributes of the normative environment. The results of the thesis provide the basis for further exploration of Polish public service media, for example, for examination of content of their messages after the normative environment has changed.

Selected aspects of regional public service television broadcasting in the Czech Republic and Denmark
Bělka, Michal ; Moravec, Václav (advisor) ; Lokšík, Martin (referee)
Public service television broadcasting holds a key role in the European media landscape. Furthermore, when we step down from the national level and take a look into individual regions, its importance and unique position become even more apparent. Local media companies may get bundled by strong ties between editorial staff and local advertisers while the official city journals may tend to function more like a mayor's speaking trumpet than impartial newspapers. Public service television - independent of local politicians or advertisers - has an opportunity to serve as one of the few unbiased and economically stable information sources, letting the people know about what's happening in their neighborhood: At the town hall, county seat or anywhere else within their own region. The Czech TV fulfills this role since its foundation in 1992. Starting with only seven regional newsrooms, it now operates 14 of them with a couple of new studios being built right now as the Czech TV aims to start self-reliant regional broadcasting in near future. This thesis brings a comparative study focused on the position, operations and production of the Czech TV's regional newsrooms in comparison with the situation in Denmark where regional public service television broadcasting enjoys a very privileged status since 1980s. We will...

Author: Jana Leichterová Name of the thesis: Selected examples of institutionalized journalistic support (endorsement) before the elections in the Czech Republic after 1989 Abstract Endorsement as a form of media support for a specific political actor is a traditional part of a media sphere in the United States of America and the United Kingdom, especially in a period preceding important elections. In the Czech Republic, this concept is generally considered to be new. The main aim of this thesis is to establish the concept of endorsement within the context of Czech media. The theoretical part of the thesis is based on the theory of media bias by Denis McQuail and his typology of this concept, supplemented by the current work of John Street, Elizabeth Dwoskin, Bernard Keane and more. The thesis gives a concise idea of the history of endorsement and media support, especially in Europe with a special focus on the territory of the present-day Czech Republic. The second part of the thesis consists of the author's own research. The author examined the media coverage of three elections with the aim of a trend analysis during the time. That is why the elections into the Chamber of Deputies in 1996 and 2006 and the presidential election in 2013 were selected. The research was conducted with a usage of a content...
Blending of political and media power: The case of Radek John and his programme Bez cenzury
Štrup, David ; Hájek, Roman (advisor) ; Moravec, Václav (referee)
This thesis considers the role of former politician and journalist Radek John in an investigative programme Bez cenzury on TV Barrandov. Even though John was a politician and leader of Czech political party Věci veřejné, he decided to return to journalism. He did so with no intention of resigning his chair in the Chamber of Deputies, part of the Parliament of the Czech Republic. With this in mind, this could be considered as a specific representation of political parallelism. This study describes specific cases where Radek John might have acted contrary to normative journalistic values and journalism ethics. Furthermore, the thesis analyses the possibility that Radek John's own political interests and opinions affected the television programme itself. The research is conducted using the method of a case study which combines qualitative and quantitative content analysis, qualitative interviews and other research methods. Consequently, the analysis found signs of biased reporting in the programme's introduction and some stories, which reflected Radek John's antipathy towards traditional political parties and their leaders. However, the research did not reveal any direct support of Věci veřejné or their representatives. Furthermore, the thesis also presents media, academic and political responses to...
