Stories of memorials in České Budějovice
Prostudovány byly publikované i nepublikované vzpomínky a v hojné míře rovněž ikonografické podklady. Údaje chybějící nebo v archivních...
Václav (Remedius) Prutký OFM: Itinerarium missionum apostolicarum (introductory study, edition and translation with commentary on part I of the work)
Förster, Josef ; Svatoš, Martin (advisor) ; Hojda, Zdeněk (referee) ; Navrátilová, Hana (referee)
The dissertation presents primarily the text itself of part of Itinerarium (the first 31 chapters) in the form of a critical edition. It thus greatly eases the work of all future researchers in studying the work in the Latin original. The edition was acquired on the basis of a manuscript autograph, the property of the Franciscan Brothers Provenance in Prague kept in the National Library of the Czech Republic. The Itinerarium ranks amongst the most important works from a file of manuscript sources, the authors of which are members of the St. Wenceslas provenance of the order of lesser brothers of St. Francis, who were active during the course of the 18th century on missions in Egypt or Ethiopia and attained a prestigious standing in the mission hierarchy (Jakub Římař, Remedius Prutký, Kristián Schneider). Their works, which are of a various nature (itineraries, journals, collections of medical prescriptions, language dictionaries, liturgical manuals etc.), may be valuable sources for experts in a diverse range of fields: oriental studies, Egyptology, geography, history, linguistics, literary history etc. With regard to the fact that Prutký's literary work is unknown to the Czech reader and has been presented only thanks to the translation of two chapters acquired in the 1940s by Z. Kalista, it evidently...

Franciscans of Turnov in the Baroque (1651-1763)
Novotný, Robert Radim ; Mikulec, Jiří (referee) ; Hojda, Zdeněk (advisor)
The aim of this thesis is presented based on several years of investigative research, resulting in the publication of partial results particularly in regional proceedings, to submit a If possible, the final report on the effect of first-century Franciscan Turnov, respectively. throughout the region.Studying the effect of religious institutions in the Czech lands during the early modern times has its importance for several reasons. The smaller percentage of the then total population of religious community, the number of its members did, the more important influence on the development and practical all segments of society only acquire its existence. Finally, the contemporary phrase noted that the monasteries are in the world and the world in monasteries. Likewise, no doubt can Elbl agree with Martin that religious communities were more or less faithful picture of the whole company and both components interacted.(Překlad vytvořen dodatečně)
Students of the Unity of Brethern at the beginning of the 17th century or priests-to-be from the archive of Matouš Konečný
Růčková, Markéta ; Hojda, Zdeněk (referee) ; Ebelová, Ivana (advisor)
In the course of reconstruction works in the area of the former cloister Na Karmeli in Mladá Boleslav in August 2006 the builders found two wooden boxes. The boxes were buried under the backfilling material of the arch of the cloister's ground floor. They have preserved the so-called Archive of Matouš Konečný (1572-1622), one of the last bishops of the Unity of Brethren before the Battle of White Mountain in 1620. The unilateral correspondence dating back to the first two decades of the 17th century constitutes the main part of the excavated archival documents. The correspondence which was addressed to Matouš Konečný is composed partly of letters from students (or to be precise priests-to-be of the Unity of Brethren). These letters constitute the basis of the submitted diploma thesis. Firstly, the author offers the basic characteristic of the mentioned archival findings and resumes hitherto scholarship related to the theme. Then the main core of the thesis is focused on the education of priests-to-be in the Unity of Brethren. This education took place in Brethren houses and was provided by priests. The quality of the knowledge passed on the pupils depended on knowledge and experience of these priests. The organization of this type of education was regulated by the church's order. Despite the fact that the...
Guild of drapers and weavers in the town of Soběslav
Linhart, Stanislav ; Hojda, Zdeněk (referee) ; Ebelová, Ivana (advisor)
The aim of my Bachelor work is the guild of drapers and weavers in the town of Soběslav. I take a probing look into the lives of these two guilds on the basis of appropriate and historical guild sources and their approach to organization and administration (especially concerning guild status, guild books and terminology material). Attention is also paid to common situations and dilemmas. That means the acquiring of knowledge within the guilds dilemmas, questions connected with its origins, their development and finally the abolishment of the guild system in our country. I especially delve into the range of the guild's character and the weaving craft.
Pilgrims way to Hájek. Its origins, development and decline in the mirror of sources from the 17th-19th century
Pařízková, Kateřina ; Zdichynec, Jan (referee) ; Hojda, Zdeněk (advisor)
The baroque pilgrimage way from Prague to Hájek originated between the year 1720-1733. Of the total of 20 chapels only 11 were preserved to these days. The primary route of the pilgrimage way was gradually abolished and now is on several places iterrupted. By several of demolished chapels today is not possible to determine their original location. In Hájek (the name comes from the newly planted forrest near the village Červený Újezd) in the year 1623 Jindřich Žďárský of Žďár built the chapel, inspired by the chapel in Loreto in Italy. Lately the Franziskaner monastery was founded there. In 1720 the foundation stone of the pilgrimage way was laied. The chapels have been built and lately preserved, using the financial means of the donators. The budget as well as the bills for the building works have been kept in the archive. The chapels have been decorated by frescos, showing the lives of Virgin Marie and Saint Francis. The appearance of the paintings has not been preserved, only their description. The chapels begun to deteriorate at the end of 18th century, at the time when the Emperor Josef II. abolished the fund for their renovation. The pilgrimage has been used by pilgrims in times of the main Maria's feasts above all. Most of pilgrims hasn't been using only the way from Prague, but also the ways from...
Municipal administration and offices in the Middle Elbe region during the Thirty Years' War
Ďurčanský, Marek ; Hojda, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Čornejová, Ivana (referee) ; Pešek, Jiří (referee)
The operation of municipal offices and municipal administration in general was not a too popular topic in Czech historiography. Even this aspect of the life of Czech towns was strongly influenced by the persecution of Czech estates after the battle on the White Mountain and following processes with the gravity centre in the third decade of the 17th century, as well as by the direct and indirect consequences of military actions. Research in such area can also enrich our knowledge of many aspects of contemporary city life and contribute to a better explanation of such consequential phenomena as emigration and recatholicization. The municipal councils and municipal offices can often be named as nervus rerum in these circumstances. To elaborate the problems of military influences on administration in the times of the Thirty Years' War fully is not possible without more detailed studies about the situation of particular municipal offices. This kind of research would enable us to compare several regions. But there is a lack of such studies. The way out can be found by using proper surveys of the situation of several towns. Such probes would outline basic tendencies and phenomena, or the key questions for the subsequent research, such as: a) the extent and structure of the bodies of municipal administration and...
Rokycany town administration and it's representatives between 1573-1699
Hrachová, Hana ; Hojda, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Sulitková, Ludmila (referee) ; Ledvinka, Václav (referee)
In the early modern age the town of Rokycany belonged to the smaller towns with an economy characterized by crafts and agriculture. In the 16th century the city started to bloom remarkably. Because of its loyalty shown to Ferdinand I, the town wasn't affected by the sanctions of that ruler, but was instead granted many privileges. In 1547 Rokycany became a free royal town. The above treatise discusses and follows the evolution of the town administration, the purpose of the single offices and its personnel. The most important administrative institution of the town was the municipal council with legislative, jurisdictional and executive powers. The town's economies and the administration of the town's property belonged also to the duties of the council. The municipal council counted twelve counsellors; its most prestigious member was called primate. Every counsellor was in charge of the government of the town for the period of one month, during this period he used the title of burgomaster. In the examined period of time, 19 men became primates and the majority of them kept the tile lifelong. Three men worked as imperial town magistrates In the period preceding the Battle of the White Mountain two primates managed with their eminence to reach fame also outside the town. That is Jan Novoměstský Srnovec from...
