Team cohesion and team success in elite youth sport teams
Šiška, Pavol ; Slepička, Pavel (advisor) ; Landa, Pavel (referee) ; Holienka, Miroslav (referee)
The main aim of this dissertation was to examine the relationship between team success and team cohesiveness with a sample of elite youth sport teams. The secondary aim of this international thesis was to translate and analyze the psychometric properties of responses to the Czech and Slovak versions of the Youth Sport Environment Questionnaire (YSEQ; Eys, Loughead, Bray, & Carron, 2009b) in a sample of elite youth handball and soccer players. The accomplishment of the second purpose involved three phases of research. First, the questionnaire was translated into the Czech and Slovak languages by method of parallel back-translation. In Phase 2, feedback was sought on the translated versions of each questionnaire from both researchers (N = 2) and athletes (N = 52) to ensure the clarity of the instructions and the readability of the items. Subsequent confirmatory analyses in the final phase provided an adequate fitting model for both Czech and Slovak versions with an independent sample (N = 352) from youth sport teams. These results offer further support to Eys et al.'s (2009b) proposed two dimensional model underlying their measure of cohesion for youth sport groups. In terms of the general purpose, we employed structural equation modeling to examine the direction of that relationship via a...
Value orientation of sporting and non-sporting seniors
Pěkný, Martin ; Slepička, Pavel (advisor) ; Kubíčková, Miluše (referee) ; Man, František (referee)
Problem: The problems of values have been in the forefront of human interest since ancient philosophy. Due to the serious nature of this topic it is not a surprise that values are presently the focus of nearly all social sciences (psychology, economics, sociology, anthropology, ethnology etc.). However, value orientation in seniors still represents a relatively not very explored area. In this respect, the value orientation of seniors in relation to sport and the barriers inhibiting their participation in locomotion activities in particular is a topical issue in the light of the present-day demographical development in the developed countries. Hypothesis: We presume that we find relationships between the value orientation of a selected senior population and their degree of participation in locomotion activities, the type of locomotion activities and socio-demographic characteristics. We also presume that we find relationships between the value orientation of a selected senior population and their subjective perception of barriers limiting or inhibiting seniors' involvement in locomotion activities. Objective: The objective of a descriptive analytic research study is to identify the value orientation and barriers limiting or inhibiting sporting activity in sporting and non-sporting seniors. Method: A...

Title: Motivational factors contributing to the changing lifestyles of athletes during adolescence The main goal of this dissertation is to identify the main reasons of dropping out from sport in adolescence. In order to make a better interpretation of the results and to better understand the respondents' testimonies another goal of this study was set and that is to define the positive benefits but also the negative effects of sport on the lifestyle of the studied participants as well as an impact on the whole society. The main aim reflects the scientific questions in which we are interested what demotivational factors are involved in changing the lifestyle of athletes in the period of adolescence, and how the non-fulfilment of basic psychological needs (autonomy, competence and the need of relatedness) influence the change of lifestyle of athletes in adolescence that dropped out from sport. In order to thoroughly investigate the goals of the work, we decided to use qualitative scientific procedures, multi-case studies. Using semi-structured interviews, we have collected data from eight participants (4 boys, 4 girls, 4 representatives of collective sports, 4 representatives of individual sports) in the form of their narrative about motivational or demotivational factors leading to leaving the...

Title: The benefits of outdoor course for social relationships development in school classes Objective: The aim of the thesis was to examine how the outdoor course focused on teambuilding and social relationships development influences the structure and quality of social relationships in adolescent school classes. Methods: The research sample was created by 211 13 years old secondary school students (128 girls; 83 boys; average age 13.3±SD years) who participated on a 6-days outdoor course. The course was designed using the principles of dramaturgy to meet its objectives - let the students get to know each other and their teachers better, induce positive social relationships, a cooperative atmosphere, a sense of trust and safety in the class. The students filled in the questionnaire before the course, straight after the course and 3 months after finishing the course. It was a combination of preferential record, sociometric questions (choosing classmates for a birthday party and deserted island), B3 test and two open-ended questions mapping the preference of programme resources. The results were first analysed for each class to see what happened in each group and then all classes were summarized. Primary data were analysed by non-parametric Friedman's test, statistical significance between the...

Moving therapy as a part in long term drug users treatment - case studies serie and focus group of the clients in therapeutic community
Musílková, Eva ; Slepička, Pavel (advisor) ; Harsa, Pavel (referee)
Rigorous work deals with the importance of physical activities as a part of rigorous regiments of therapeutic communities. Thesis with the empirical- qualitative research character has the ambition of trying to offer the benefits of therapy by movement and sport through the eyes of clients. The processes of finding individual boundaries and physical limits, self-motivation, interaction, and the influence of group dynamics on their own physical performance depend on the progress of the client's convalescence, throughout the stabilization of his mental and physical health at the time of abstinence. Long-term use of addictive substances has a key effect on the physical fitness of users, frequent (and often not non-complicated) psychomotor and somatic comorbidity play a big role in finding and finding their own physical and mental limits. Research part of the thesis is conceived as a serie of case studies and one focus group with clients in particular therapeutic community for drug abusers. Research data was collected through semi-structured interviews, during the interview also situation curve was created by each respondent and following inquiry was performed. The research team consisted of 6 clients. The focus group was realized with complete staff of the therapeutic community. All - clients find...
Problems of motivation of beach volleyball players
Knoblochová, Michaela ; Slepička, Pavel (advisor) ; Harsa, Pavel (referee)
Title: Motivation of players of beach volleyball Objectives: The aim of this master thesis is to assess the self-determination, motivational orientation, and the factors influencing the self confidence of beach volleyball players by means of questionnaires and to recommend practical applications based on obtained results (data). Methods: The study was conducted using a quantitative questionnaire, which was compiled of three standardized questionnaires in their Czech versions, used in psychology. To measure self-determination of male and female players of beach volleyball, the Sport Motivation Scale - 6 questionnaire was used. Goal Orientation was measured using the Perception of Success Questionnaire; the Sources of Sport Confidence questionnaire was used to deal with the topic of self confidence. Results: The obtained results regarding the players' self-determination confirm the general presumption of high levels of intrinsic motivation and very low levels of amotivation in individuals practicing sports. The highest values were measured with respect to integrated regulation, the most autonomous form of extrinsic motivation. With regard to gender, males scored higher in amotivation, external regulation, and introjected regulation. Females, on the other hand, scored higher in identified regulation,...
Cell-biomaterial interactions in hard and soft tissue engineering
Zárubová, Jana ; Bačáková, Lucie (advisor) ; Mikšík, Ivan (referee) ; Slepička, Petr (referee)
Tissue engineering is an interdisciplinary field which aims to create substitutes of damaged tissues by combining cells with biomaterials. Cells are extremely sensitive to their microenvironment and so the cell response to biomaterials can be regulated by different extrinsic stimuli and alterations of biomaterial properties. Successful implant integration into the tissue can therefore be promoted by appropriate surface roughness, chemical composition, adhesion ligand density, as well as the availability of growth factors. This thesis mainly focuses on the development of orthopedic replacements and the improvement of the currently used blood vessel prostheses. Through the study of cell-biomaterial interactions, it was demonstrated that superimposed topography with features ranging from the nano to micro scale promotes cell spreading, proliferation, and the metabolic activity of osteoblast-like cells. Moreover, when comparing the chemical composition of biomaterials for orthopedic implants, higher osteoblast densities were observed on composites with 5-15 vol. % of calcium phosphate nanoparticles, while concentrations of 25 vol. % did not support cell proliferation. Cell viability, however, was not affected. In vivo, a more intensive formation of new bone tissue, was found on samples containing...
