Implementation of ulticultural education in the Step by Step program in primary education

This diploma thesis focuses on implementation of multicultural education in the Step by Step program in primary education. The theoretical part is divided into three chapters. The first one defines the basic concepts that apply to multicultural education. In addition, it also mentions officially recognised national minorities in the Czech Republic and the evolution of the number of foreigners residing on or territory. Further this chapter explains prejudice and stereotypes. The second chapter focuses on multicultural education as one of the cross-section modules in Framework Czech Educational Program. In this part, the thesis characterizes the cross-section theme and describes the thematic circuits and possible approaches to teaching. The third chapter discusses the educational program Step by Step and details its core parts. In the practical part of the work, qualitative research is described in detail, carried out with the fifth grade of Elementary School Petřiny - Sever, which follows the educational program Step by Step. These discussions are linked with evaluation of quality of teachers, their way of teaching, and also with their approach to pupils and parents. The importance of teaching can be seen in two levels: firstly, the focus is on giving the knowledge, and secondly the focus is on personal development of the pupil, his/her competencies, and personal skills and respect. In this work I will describe various styles of teaching, personal prerequisites and further competencies, as necessary qualities a teacher should have. I will present five basic teaching styles with focus on their positives and risks. In analytical part, I will look up competitions rewarding good teachers and will describe criteria based on which selected teachers are rewarded. The theoretical part of the thesis is a description of educating of the gifted child with Asperger's syndrome in the context of psychological and institutional educational support led by experts. The theoretical part is the starting point for the research part of the thesis which aims to find out how to improve the educating of the gifted child with Asperger's syndrome in ordinary primary schools. A gypsy child in elementary school at the start of compulsory school

My thesis is focused on the theme "Gypsy child at the beginning of school attendace". The main aim of my thesis is to find out how gypsy pupils are able to adapt to an inclusive school. The purpose is complemented by research questions which are divided into two areas according to influencing factors. The first of the factors are internal factors, that means the ones that deal with the individual of a children in the educational process himself, then external factors which influence and participate in education of Roma pupils in primary school. Theoretical part is formed to make consistent unit with the practical part. First chapter is focused on Romas and their ethnic history. In second and third chapter we can find out more about the gypsy pupils in the beginning of school attendance. Second chapter is divided into several subchapters according to the determinants of school maturity. Fourth chapter is the basis of the whole thesis, because it is mainly focused on the gypsy pupils in the context of Czech education. Parental evenings with teachers-beginners

This diploma thesis deals with the issue of parental evenings and their associated preparation, realization, process and communication of beginning teachers of primary school with pupils' parents. The aim of the diploma thesis is to create a set of procedures and recommendations based on the data obtained from starting teachers and parents, which have been successfully implemented in practice and can be inspired not only by other novice teachers. In the theoretical part, the diploma thesis identifies competencies that enable the teacher to effectively manage this professional situation and, on the basis of professional literature, it provides examples of conduct that contribute to better preparation and process of parental evenings. Research in the empirical part follows the cases of four beginning teachers. Methods which were used are observation, semi-structured interview and questionnaire. The research of this diploma thesis lasted for six months, during which were observed parental evenings, followed by interviews with beginning teachers. Specification of the care for climate at the 3th grade of the primary school

TITLE: Specification of the care for climate at the 3th grade of the primary school SUMMARY: The objective of this diploma work was to research whether alternating of three and more teachers might have a negative impact on the classroom climate. The theoretical part provides a definition of personality characteristics of pupils in the third grade of primary school with respect to the management of classroom climate. I analyse the factors influencing the classroom climate such as family influence, pupils' groups and particularly personalities of teachers, their management and organisationof teaching, further their communication style, evaluation and cooperation among teachers. The practical part focuses on the research of the classroom climate using the method My Class Inventory (MCI). Another applied method is interviewing class teachers. The practical part is completed with a questionnaire filled out by pupils. The results of the research confirmed the change of the classroom climate in the third grade where three and more teachers alternate. These changes are manifested especially by more frictions and higher competitiveness.
