PR Strategy of a Non-Profit Organization
Bláhová, Jana ; Nový, Jan (advisor) ; Musil, Martin (referee)
The aim of the diploma thesis is to analyze the PR strategy of the non-profit organization and, based on its results, to propose a set of recommendations and suggestions that would help the organization to achieve its goals more effectively. The thesis focuses on PR activities that contribute to the fulfillment of one of the strategic goals of the organization, therefore the gradual abolition of institutional care and its replacement of community care provided primarily in sheltered housing. This important step is related to the need to implement effective PR activities towards local inhabitans through which they are informed about the organization, its clients, and generally about the lives of people with disabilities in order to eliminate the myths of disabled people, thus helping the smooth integration of clients into life in the local community. For this reason, work is targeted at local inhabitans and other target groups are not considered here.
The detection of cognitive dysfunction in multiple sclerosis
Blahová-Dušánková, Jana ; Kubala Havrdová, Eva (advisor) ; Papežová, Hana (referee) ; Rektorová, Irena (referee)
Evaluation of cognitive impairment is often omitted in multiple sclerosis (MS), as the available instruments usually require considerable time and resources, and are not readily available in all countries. The aims of this study were to examine validity of the Czech translation of the MACFIMS (Minimal Assessment of Cognitive Function in MS), to validate the BICAMS (Brief International Cognitive Assessment for MS) and to compare outcomes of the MACFIMS and the BICAMS. We evaluated 367 MS patients and 134 healthy controls with the MACFIMS battery, which also comprises the 3 tests of the BICAMS (Symbol Digit Modalities Test, Brief Visuospatial Memory Test- Revised, California Verbal Learning Test, second edition). The most accurate BICAMS criterion of cognitive deficit was that of at least 1 of the overall 3 tests outside the normal range (sensitivity = 94%, specificity = 86%, p=10-28). Outcomes of the Czech translation of the MACFIMS were comparable to its original. The MACFIMS and the BICAMS identified cognitive deficit in 55% and 58% of the MS patients, respectively. Both the BICAMS and MACFIMS predicted patient vocational status. The BICAMS is highly sensitive and specific to cognitive impairment in MS as defined by the MACFIMS. This impairment is significantly associated with vocational status. Our work...

Translation equivalents and function of eventive objects after the verbs "give/make" ("give an answer/make a promise")
Bláhová, Jana ; Šaldová, Pavlína (advisor) ; Brůhová, Gabriela (referee)
This BA thesis deals with the description of eventive objects after the verbs give and make. There is no equivalent construction in Czech and therefore the thesis focuses on the translation equivalents as well. The eventive object is a part of verbo-nominal constructions (the verb reflects the grammatical categories; the eventive object bears the meaning). One of the functions of the construction is modification and quantification flexibility (e.g. she gave a sad smile). Usually the modificators (both pre- and postmodificators) of the eventive noun are translated as adverbials into Czech. The position of the adverbial in the Czech sentence can cause problems in translation. In terms of methodology, the thesis is based on the analysis of 100 eventive objects exported from English original texts and their translation equivalents. The corpus of examples was acquired from InterCorp parallel corpus available under Český národní korpus. Firstly, and most importantly, clear criteria of the construction have to be established. Then the individual examples of the construction will be classified and described. Finally, the translation equivalents and modification will be analysed.

Bláhová, Jana ; Březinová, Monika (advisor) ; Šafařík, Petr (referee)
Aim of the thesis "Christa Wolf and her work "What Remains" as a start of German-German literature dispute and its resonance in the chosen Czech media" is to describe reception of the book "Was bleibt" from Christa Wolf accenting the socio-political context at the time of its publication and the immediate origination of the literature dispute between East and West Germany. Thesis discusses the grounds which led to begin of the dispute, as well as the process of the dispute and its main actors. Moreover, importance of the dispute and role of Christa Wolf and her work "Was bleibt" is sought. The first two chapters serve as an introduction to the literature dispute, where the first one concentrates more on the life and both social and political engagement of Christa Wolf, and the second one deals with her fundamental work "Was bleibt" and its context in the political situation at that time. The main part of the thesis discusses public responses to publication of the "Was bleibt", the origin and the process of the German-German literature dispute. Critiques of West German feulletonists, which started the literature dispute, are investigated in this part of the thesis too. The last chapter then addresses resonance of the dispute in selected Czech literary papers and magazines.
