Separatist conflict: comparative study of Sri Lanka and Aceh, Indonesia

The aim of the master thesis is to determine factors that contribute to peace settlement of separatist conflicts. It compares two separatist conflicts with different forms of termination. The Indonesian government signed a peace agreement with separatists in province of Aceh and offered them greater autonomy, whereas the government of Sri Lanka decided on military suppression of Tamil separatists. The analysis of the conflicts is based on six factors that are built on the study of Barbara Walter about the concept of reputation building. According to the concept, governments are less likely to go for peace settlement when facing more imperilling separatist groups, seeing that governments have to invest in reputation building. The comparative case study is based on following factors: potential future separatists, value of land currently under dispute, proportion of total population and territory, balance of power between separatists and government, political system with focus on democracy, degree of centralization/ federalism. The evidence seems to be strong that the theory of reputation building does not apply to selected cases because the peace settlement was achieved in Indonesia which has far more potential separatist groups than Sri Lanka. Chrysophycean cysts and scales in paleolimnological studies

This thesis deals with chrysophyte scales and stomatocysts as useful tool of paleoecological reconstructions in lake ecosystems. In the first part the geological physical and biological aspects of lake reconstructions are described. The second part contents information about chrysophyte taxa and their utilisation as paleoekological indicators. Chrysophyte microphosils include two major groups of siliceous indicator: stomatocysts and sculptured and ornamented species-specific scales. Using surface-sediment training sets, quantitative inference models have been constructed for eutrophication, acidification, air-born pollution, salinification, climatic change, and other environmental changes. This thesis represents a literature review.

The main focus of the bachelor thesis Christopher Dresser - Life and Work is to introduce Christopher Dresser, British designer, one of the first professional industrial designers and a leader of vogue for Japanese-influenced design which inspired Europe in the late 19th- century. Because of the lack of a czech-version-book dedicated to this outstanding artist, I would like to, comprehensively and digestebly, follow Christopher Dresser's life story and work as a possible further basis for such a book; but also as a clue for those who prefers to read in czech. This bachelor thesis focuses on tourism, sustainable development, marketing and especially the role of the Internet in tourism. There is an analysis of the primary and secon-dary sector and communication channels of a selected area. Based on the analysis there are designed concrete recommendations to improve the current state of the Internet environment that aims to improve the general awareness of this area and make Moravian Karst more attractive to young people.

Kinds of puppets and their use in Czech film

The purpose of this thesis is to acquaint the reader with the possibilities of usage of puppets in film, both animated and hand-held. It concentrates mainly on productions made in the Czech Republic. This thesis contains the division and description of individual techniques and types of puppets, a brief history of Czech and and international puppetry and a brief insight in to film and the beginnings of animation and the history of Czech puppet film. It contains analysis of specific films, compares animation and theatre techniques from different perspectives and also concentrates on specific qualities of puppets and some means of film communication. The conclusion of this thesis contains an interview with Jan Švankmajer.

Process modeling notations and their utilization

The companies can choose from a wide range of tools and methodologies for mapping their processes. The key point is to select the right ones to ensure they will match with the purpose of process mapping and the process models will be clear and easy to understand for the entire stakeholder spectrum. For process modeling we often use diagrams. We have notations that are very advanced, they can be very detailed and accurate. On the other hand we have those which are very simple and with only a few symbols they can capture basic ideas and attributes of the process. The aim of this thesis is to compare representatives from each group of notations and answer the question which notation is more suitable for different types of utilization of business process models. The representative of the advanced instruments is BPMN 2.0, which is compared with the basic flowcharts. The research is based on Delphi method.

Main goal of the bachelor thesis is to outline marketing projects, which could help Zoo Chleby to be more attractive and visited. The theoretical part characterises tourism, specifics of its marketing and management, tourist attractions and event marketing and management. Moreover it focuses on zoological gardens and activities provided by them. The practical part states basic data about Zoo Chleby, its premises, inhabitants and activities. The core of this part lies in the outline of marketing projects, ways of their organization and a guess of possible impacts on the run in zoo.

This piece of work discusses the essence and meaning of sound in animated film. It focuses on individual means of expression of sound in animated film and on the relationship between visuals and sound. It compares different ways of approach and demonstrates it on examples of particular films. Part of this work is also dedicated to a short history of sound in animated film.

Impact of late effects severity of anticancer therapy on subjective quality of life of childhood cancer survivors

Psychosocial problems of patients who underwent childhood malignancy treatment are together with health problems the most severe consequences of anticancer therapy. In this study, we deal with relationship between severity of late effects and subjective quality of life of childhood cancer survivors. The sample consisted of 95 cancer survivors (47 boys and 48 girls) aged 13 to 19 who were in remission for 2 to 5 years at the time of examination. To measure quality of life we used the Minnesota-Minneapolis Quality of Life Instrument (MMQL), severity of late effects we assessed on 4-point scale in accordance with CTCAE (Common Terminology Criteria for Adverse Events v3.0). Severity of late effects of anticancer therapy influences negatively physical functioning, cognitive functioning, body image and social functioning. Psychological (emotional) functioning and outlook of life are not significantly impacted by severity of late effects.
