This bachelor’s thesis named Actual State and potential of renewable sources utilization in the EU offers a detailed summary of the current and future utilization of renewable resources in each member state of the European Union. The opening chapters briefly introduce the term renewable resources and the legislation relating to this issue. The following chapter is devoted to a detailed background research of actual renewable energy utilization in all twenty seven member states of the European Union. The countries are ranked by their dates of accession to the Union in ascending order, in each chapter alphabetically. All information and data are obtained from reliable sources such as annual energy reports of ministries or institutions which are concerned with energy issues. This chapter contains a great amount of charts and tables taken from annual reports and which are revised for the needs of this thesis. The chapter named Potential of renewable energy utilization in the EU offers an insight into the assumed future utilization of renewable resources up to the year 2020. This chapter draws from so-called National renewable energy action plans (NREAP) in which each member state presents its plan leading to higher renewable sources utilization in the near future. The reader is therefore able to familiarize with plans concerning renewable sources in each member state. The chapter named Complex evaluation familiarizes with some pros and cons concerning renewable sources and their utilization. Further the author presents his point of view on renewable sources and some recommendation leading to a better integration of renewable sources into energetics.

Possibilities of Solar Chimney Power Plants
Moravčík, Martin ; Macháček, Jan (referee) ; Procházka, Zdeněk (advisor)
This thesis contains teoretical summary of present situation of problems involved in solar chimneys development. In the first chapter there are mathematical methods for describing the functions of solar chimneys in general. It establishes figures for power output, efficiency, speed of flow inside the chimney and figures for desinging solar chimney. In the next chaper there is a division of solar chimneys and it mainly focuses on describing the solar updraft towers and solar floating chimneys. And marginally it focuses on solar downdraft towers. Next there are possibilities how to use principle of solar chimney for air conditioning and ventilation. In the next chapter it describes the use of solar chimneys, with cogeneration, hydrogen production, in cooling towers and chimneys, and there is also fully described the project in Manzanares. In the fifth chapter it describes the economy of the two comparative projects of solar chimneys, which are at the end economically analyzed and assessed. The last chapter is a summary of the objectives of this thesis, and the subsequent approach is described too and at last there is also evaluation of solar chimneys and the conclusion of this thesis.
The Stirling Thermodynamic Cycle
Macháček, Jan ; Sokanský, Karel (referee) ; Kyncl, Jan (referee) ; Gregor, Jan (advisor)
My doctoral thesis deals with study and analyse of Stirling thermodynamical cycle. Cycle that is composed of two isochoras and two isotherms. I describe functional principle of Stirling engine and all its parts, constructional variations of pistons system and possible engine working modes. Next chapter contains analyse of engine constructional parameters. Measuring of torque and load characteristics, p - V schemes and output work for various engine inputs is part of this analyse. There is composed mathematical engine characterization by means of Schmidt theory in chapter five. Mathematical characterization is consequently applied to engine model. Theoretical analysis and practical measurement were base for concepts, realization and verification of constructional correction. One part of my thesis is attended to design of new lamella for regenerative exchanger. For optimal lamella constructional proportions were used computational algorithm and simulations. There is concept of cogeneration unit with Stirling engine and its benefits check in last chapter. General theoretical and practical analyse of workable Stirling engine is result of my thesis. Analyse in this extent was not nowhere publishing yet. Design of regenerative exchanger lamella is then practical input of my thesis.
Draft methodology for processing and evaluation of long-term measurements on PV Panel
Žák, Tomáš ; Šlezingr, Jan (referee) ; Macháček, Jan (advisor)
This bachelor thesis aims to analyse the physical theory behind the photovoltaic cells and propose extension measurements for a modernised on-line laboratory. The first part of this thesis describes the theory of the photovoltaic conversion of solar energy into electricity. The p-n junction is described in detail because of its importance for a thorough understanding of the subject. The temperature dependence of a photovoltaic panel, i.e. the negative impact of rising temperature on the output power, is also described here. The contributions of this thesis include a summary of the current situation and the system of state subsidies for the current year as well as a proposal for an extension of measurements in an on-line laboratory, which is to be modernised, at the Department of Power Engineering. Therefore, the thesis includes some specific proposals of graphic dependence, which have a significant information value, and a possible further extension of the laboratory with new measuring and measured elements, which would be helpful for deeper understanding of the subject. In particular, it would be useful for understanding which factors influence the output power of a photovoltaic panel, both significantly and less significantly, which is undoubtedly the most important point.
