Libretto versus drama based on the Čapek's Makropulos affair
Mudrová, Jitka ; Mocná, Dagmar (advisor) ; Brožová, Věra (referee)
We compare the features of drama and libretto, based on the text The Makropulos Affair by Karel Čapek (drama) and Leoš Janáček (libretto). We would like to show not only common dramatic features, but also the specific librettist features, which Janáček used by transformation Čapek's drama into opera libretto. We demonstrated, that dramatic features are in libretto at the level of structure and the specific librettist features are at the level of story, single figures and its constellation. The analysis confirmed the preliminary hypotheses.
Composition and mystification (Jan Novák, Jan Lukeš, T.R. Field)
Odložilíková, Žaneta ; Janoušek, Pavel (advisor) ; Brožová, Věra (referee)
This diploma thesis Composition and Mystification (Jan Novák, Jan Lukeš, and T. R. Field) acquaints the reader with three personages of Czech literature of the twentieth century. So far they have been treated by literary science as rather marginal. Their work is associated with a great deal of literary mystification originating from the authors themselves or people influenced by their literary output and their personalities. All three authors belong to the category of so called 'loonies', which implies that their lives and their work were to certain extent shaped by the eccentricity of their personalities or perhaps even mental disorders. The introductory chapter with its synoptic character defines and describes the term of literary mystification which is further on related to terms such as play, ludism and myth. Particular emphasis is being put on the distinction between the literary mystifications and the traditional ones. Selected literary mystifications in Czech literature are exemplified. Attention is also drawn to the publications of Vladimír Borecký who was interested in the category of so called 'loonies' and 'weirdoes'. The following chapter is concerned with individual authors maintaining an identical procedure of their depiction. After the sources of information are mentioned, the...
Dramatization of Ivan Olbracht's novel the Bandit Nikolai Shuhai
Mládková, Nela ; Janoušek, Pavel (advisor) ; Brožová, Věra (referee)
ENGLISH SUMMARY In my diploma thesis called The Dramatization of Ivan Olbracht's novel The Bandit Nikolai Shuhai I have concentrated primarily on the adaptation most appreciated by readers as well as, in my opinion, the adaptation of the best quality. In chapter one I focused on Olbracht's novel, precisely on the theme genesis in The Bandit Nikolai Shuhai, which was based on a real-life event. The public responses on the book, which was awarded the state prize for a literary work of art in 1933, are reflected as well. We also deal with blending of the myth with reality, the language and stylistic processing of the novel, and with the main protagonists. Personally, I consider Olbracht's The Bandit Nikolai Shuhai one of the greatest pieces within the Czech literature of 20th century. There are two reasons for which the theme of the novel became a good-quality and favourite basis for further processing: it tells an engaging story of a real-life figure and it is situated in a place which impresses us, Europeans, with enchanting exoticism of its landscape and culture. Chapter two deals with the work of Petr Ulrych which was inspired by Olbracht's novel. Ulrych's first product based on this literary work was a monothematic LP The Bandit Nikolai Shuhai (released in 1974). A year later those thirteen songs were...

The Winnie-the-Pooh Phenomenon
Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
Michael Ende?s Die Unendliche Geschichte and its Relationship to Myth
Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
Fantastic motives in prose with children's hero by Iva Procházková
Havlová, Jana ; Klumparová, Štěpánka (referee) ; Brožová, Věra (advisor)
I especially devote myself in my dissertation work, whose title is "The fantastic motives in prose with children's hero by Iva Procházková", to the analysis of prose of Iva Procházková that are intentionally designed for children in which the child finds himself in a position the main hero and there are fantastic themes also occuring there. They are namely the following literary works: Wednesday tastes good, Marco and the magic horse, The Owl's song, Vincent goes to Africa, Eliah and the granny from the egg, Rhubarb, where are you? and Mice belong in heaven. but shouldn't stay too long. I allude to the plot, I interpret their meaning. I focus mainly on fantastic motives that occur in them and I am trying to clarify their function in prose with a child hero. I draw attention to the metaphorical (or symbolic) dimensions. Iva Procházková is ranked among the best authors for children and young people who currently we have. Her literary works were not intentionally designed for children but no one completely processed it. I proceed mainly from publications of Svatava Urbanová and Milena Šubrtová, but I also try on my own viewpoints, particularly on issues relating to the fantastic motives. I deal with in addition the life of Iva Procházková and her work in general, among other things, I point to the awards won...
Jan Drda¨s fairytales and the film adaptations
