Ethics of Image Generative Artificial Intelligence in Journalism

The ethics of image generative artificial intelligence in journalism is a topic that has not yet been thoroughly explored by academics. This paper seeks to make a new contribution to the field and to lay the foundations for further research. In the theoretical section, it summarizes existing knowledge on generative artificial intelligence, contextualizes it within the overall development of artificial intelligence, and describes its penetration into communication and journalism. It reflects on the literature published to date and quotes from studies that relate to the topic. It also looks at the phenomenon of image manipulation and the spread of misinformation and, last but not least, the treatment of artificial intelligence in the context of journalistic self-regulation. The practical part then presents the actual research, which is conducted as a qualitative content analysis of three case studies depicting the dissemination of images created by artificial intelligence. These are firstly the alleged arrest of Donald Trump, secondly the artificially created photograph of the pope and thirdly the photograph databases. This bachelor thesis focuses on the exploration of subcultures in photography, placing particular emphasis on the subculture of K-pop fans. K-pop, a prominent representative of modern popular music and South Korean culture, has become a global phenomenon whose influence exceeds cultural and geographical boundaries, forming a unique community of its followers. The thesis analyzes how photography as a medium captures the dynamics and aesthetics of subcultures while serving as documentation of their social and cultural aspects. The output of the theoretical part defines the concept of subculture and situates K-pop within this definition. It also presents the methods and genres through which subcultures are most commonly captured and the techniques that prove functional in collaboration with closed groups.
Country life in documentary photography

The bachelor thesis is dedicated to the topic of country life in documentary photography. The result of the practical part of the work is a photobook, created during a year of documenting the lyrical aspects of the rural environment in the Western Sudetenland, entitled "As a stranger in the Homeland." The theoretical part contextualizes the topic and highlights its significant representation in the history of Czech and Slovak photography. The final chapter of the theoretical section addresses the issue of defining the term "countryside," and the factors that influence the quality of life in the countryside. Finally, it also briefly mentions the town of Žlutice, where the photobook was created. At the end of the thesis, there are several pages dedicated to the methodological section, providing a closer description of the photobook's creation process. To provide further context, an interview with the photographer from Žlutice, Ján Borecký, is included at the end of the thesis.

This bachelor thesis is divided in two parts. The practical part is a TV documentary The way to the professional ice hockey: Hard work, patience, and luck, which represents way from the beginning to the professional ice hockey career by story of Ondřej Rohlík, forward of HC Dynamo Pardubice. Documentary shows demandingness this way from the player's point of view, his dedicated time and hard work as well as the important role of parents, who have to sacrifice themselves for the career of their child. The theoretical part underpins TV documentary, defines basic concepts and the processing of the documentary, also describes the basics of audiovisual production. The theoretical part also deals with the position of Ice hockey in the Czech Republic in terms of popularity, both passive, i.e. for spectators, and active in the form of the number of active players. It also describes career of Ondřej Rohlík and his club HC Dynamo Pardubice.
From an elite army unit to the Paralympics. The life story of para shooter Jakub Kosek (television documentary)

The bachelor thesis consists of two parts. In the practical part, the author presents a television documentary entitled, From an elite army unit to the Paralympics. The life story of para shooter Jakub Kosek. The documentary shows the life of Jakub Kosek, who wanted to be a soldier from an early age. He served in the army for several years before he fell into a ditch, injured his spinal cord and ended up in a wheelchair. This forced him to change his life from the ground up. He started practicing shooting sport, in which he qualified for the Paralympic Games. He is also working with war veterans, showing them that their lives don't end after they leave the military. Along with his family, who appear in the documentary as well, he lives in a small village just outside Olomouc. The theoretical part of the thesis serves as a background for this documentary. It presents essential knowledge about the history of para sport from the first sports clubs to the phenomenon of the Paralympic Games. It informs about the classification of athletes, which is an integral part of sports for the disabled and contributes to the legitimacy of individual competitions. A ringed bird in the hand: birds tagging using rings in a photodocumentary

The bachelor thesis is devoted to the topic of bird ringing, i.e. scientific tagging of birds, and in the practical part it takes a form of a photo book called Ringed Bird in a Handful. The theoretical part of the thesis explains this method in more detail. It also discusses nature photography and establishes three concepts of it - competition, magazine and commercial; conceptual and nature photography with an overlap into photojournalism. It uses them to contextualise the photobook within the genre of nature photography. This part also distinguishes these concepts from each other based on their characteristics and supports it with an example of a photograph or series from a corresponding photographer. It also discusses the question of clichés. Finally, it reflects on how minor topics are published in the media based on the information derived from an interview conducted for this bachelor thesis with photojournalist Petr Topič, who himself covered the topic of bird banding in a journalistic manner. Photographer Marie Tomanová and American Youth

This master's thesis aims to explore the body of documentary and photographic work by Marie Tomanová, a prominent Czech photographer who has spent more than a decade living in the United States. Tomanová is now an established part of a long-standing tradition of American documentary photographers who seek to capture the emerging young generations and their culture. In its theoretical part, the thesis will provide a brief history of youth culture in American society from the beginning of the 20th century all the way to the early aughts. It will explore the context in which photographers have depicted youth culture since the mid-20th century, with a particular focus on Marie Tomanová's work as one of the most prominent contemporary representatives of the genre. The practical part consists of a visual social semiotic analysis of selected photographs by various photographers introduced earlier in the thesis. The analysis will attempt to decode the fundamental values encoded within these photographs of young Americans, compare any changes in these values over time and also focus on differences in approach among the individual authors. The Russian invasion of Ukraine through the eyes of selected media outlets and theirs accounts on social media platforms

The central theme of the thesis is the coverage of the beginning of the invasion of Ukraine, the liberation of the city of Buch and the first foreign trip of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky by BBC News, CNN and CT24 and their social media accounts on Facebook and Instagram. The theoretical part of the thesis introduces the concepts of war and peace journalism, the transformation of social networks into a new source of information and the related information overload and the role of social networks in its formation. It also explains the circumstances of selected events for further analysis in the practical part of the thesis. In the research part, codes are defined according to which the posts of the selected media outlets are subsequently analyzed in the specified time windows on Instagram and Facebook. The posts are examined both with respect to their graphical form and their content. For video posts, the origin of the video is distinguished, as well as its content and its' most prominent features. Emphasis is placed on posts with drastic content and each media outlet's approach to such material. The analysis also takes into account the frequency of posts published by each media in selected time windows. Documentary Photography: The Ďáblice Housing Estate

The primary focus of this bachelor thesis is centred around the architecturally significant Ďáblice housing estate. The theoretical part delves into its history and architecture, incorporating an interview with architect Ondřej Tuček, the grandson of the chief designer of the estate. Its photographical section presents the basic concepts and history of three pertinent photographic genres: documentary, street and urban photography. Furthermore, the thesis includes an annexed photographic publication dedicated to contemporary life in the Ďáblice housing estate, titled Krásné sídliště Ďáblice.
