Access and metropolitan area optical networks - state of the art and prospects for thir development
Kuchar, Anton
Optical metropolitan area networks are already being implemented in many countries and the optical access networks are at last taking off on a wider scale in some countries. Still, they present a bottleneck that has to be removed in order to satisfy the ever-growing demand for higher access bit rates. Technologies, architectures and services encountered in the optical access and metropolitan area networks, the state of affairs and the trends of development are discussed in the paper.
Measurement of chromatic dispersion and berifringence of microstructure optical fibers
Peterka, Pavel ; Dymák, Pavel ; Honzátko, Pavel ; Matějec, Vlastimil ; Kaňka, Jiří ; Martan, Tomáš ; Vraný, Boleslav ; Káčik, D. ; Lyytikainen, K.
Chromatic dispersion characterization of the microstructure optical fibres /MOF/ using the interferometric method is shown on several fibre samples. The differences from the measurement of standard single mode fibres are discussed.
Ballistic electron emission microscopy of InAs quantum dots in AlGaAs/GaAs heterostructure
Vaniš, Jan ; Hulicius, Eduard ; Pangrác, Jiří ; Melichar, Karel ; Walachová, Jarmila
Ballistic electron emission measurements of InAs/GaAs quantum dots in AlGaAs/GaAs heterostructures are presented in our contribution. Measured heterostructure was prepared by MOCVD technique. The area of 1 μm.sup.2./sup. was analyzed during measurements. Different size and shape of quantum dots on an examined area were vizualized. The average size of quantum dots were 10 nm and less. The observed shapes are probably connected with density of states in quantum dots.
Quartz crystal oscillator - the most frequently used source of standard frequency
Šojdr, Ludvík
This contribution presents on overview of progress in technology and parameters of both quartz crystal resonators and high stability quartz - crystal oscillators.
Introduction to time and frequency metrology
Čermák, Jan
Basic concepts such as time interval, time scale and synchronization encountered in metrology of time and frequency are introduced. Attention is paid to frequency staility. Also described are the methods of accurate time transfer applicable in the territory of the Czech Republic /GPS, DCF long-wave transmission, internet/.
Measurement of time and frequency
Čermák, Jan
Basic methods of time and frequency measurement are described. Attention is paid to measurement of period, frequency and time interval based on reciprocal time-interval counter. Stanford Research 620 counter serves to illustrate the case. Also mentioned is the calibration/measurement capability of the National Time and Frequency Standard.
National time and frequency standard
Čemusová, Blanka
The paper describes the position of the National Time and Frequency Standard within the Czech Metrology System.
Crystal growth from low-temperature solutions - theory and experiments
Novotný, Jan
Growth of crystals from low-temperature solutions belong to extended methods to acquire of high quality single crystals. Presented work reports the basic theories of crystal growth from solutions and shows their applications to optimization of crystal qrowth conditions where goal is preparation of high quality of single crystals. Next are shown experimental results of preparation of optical non-linear crystals for optoelectronics obtained at crystal growth laboratory of IREE AS CR.
Zpracování řeči

Speech Processing is a periodic publication collecting the contributions presented at the Czech-German Workshops on Speech Processing organized every year in September in Prague. The papers are devoted to speech analysis, synthesis, recognition, enhancement and phonetics.
Transformace hlasu v parametrické syntéze řeči
Vondra, Martin
In the paper a voice transformation algorithm using the composite cepstral speech synthesis model is presented. The voice transformation is based on fundamentals frequency and speech rate scaling and speech resampling. By this approach it is possible to achieve transformation male-female of female- child and vice versa.
