Process of refugee integration in France: local perspective of Lyon
Třeštíková, Terezie ; Lukešová, Anna (advisor) ; Tomalová, Eliška (referee)
Lyon is the third largest centre of immigration in France. In recent years, the number of refugee arrivals has increased, especially after the migration crisis in 2015 and 2016. The refugee integration process has therefore become a major social and political issue. This thesis will focus on how the refugee integration process is carried out in Lyon. The thesis is a descriptive case study and draws mainly on primary sources, interviews with staff of organisations operating in the region who offer insights into practice, as well as the annual reports of individual organisations and French law. It uses a theoretical division of integration into three dimensions, the politico-legal, socio-economic and cultural dimensions. The paper describes the degree of integration in these three dimensions within the administrative refugee phases. It thus divides the process, due to the different rights of refugees and the different degree of involvement of the French state in the integration process in these administrative phases. The phases are the unregistered refugee phase, the asylum seeker phase and the refugee with the asylum status. In Lyon, the greatest emphasis is on integration in the asylum seeker phase, in which the official integration programme of the French state operates, through the CIR...

Social work with citizens from Ukraine who have temporary protection status in the Czech Republic
NOVÁKOVÁ, Marie
The bachelor thesis deals with the issue of social work with Ukrainian citizens who came to the Czech Republic after the outbreak of the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. The thesis contains a theoretical and practical part. The first chapter of the theoretical part is devoted to the relations between Russia and Ukraine - it describes the situation after the independence of Ukraine and before the outbreak of the war in 2022. In the following chapters, the status of temporary protection, the characteristics of its users and the description of social work with refugees as a target group are presented. In this section, the needs of the target group, the principles of social work with refugee clients, the objectives of cooperation are introduced, and then the role of the social worker is defined, which should also be introduced to new clients with whom the worker establishes a relationship. The theoretical part is concluded with a chapter dealing directly with the social services that the target group can use with their status. The practical part of the thesis is devoted to research conducted with twelve Ukrainian refugees, which was carried out in cooperation with several institutions and services in České Budějovice. At the very beginning of the research, the issue of anonymity of the respondents proved to be crucial. Respondents often expressed concern that the answers would not be passed on to social service providers, for example, or could not be linked to the information they gave me - especially those expressing dissatisfaction or suggestions for improvement. Due to the specific nature of the research population, the specific names of organisations and service providers are not given in the thesis and a planned interview process was used with each respondent, particularly in terms of how responses were recorded. In particular, the research focused on whether and, if necessary, what social services this group of clients uses, whether they have sufficient awareness of their options in this area, what changes they would appreciate and what obstacles they most often encounter when cooperating with social services and during their everyday life.
Community centre for refugees from Ukraine
GAŽAROVÁ, Barbora
The thesis presents the Community centre "Spolu", which was established in response to the arrival of refugees from Ukraine as a result of the Russian aggression of February 2022. The thesis includes the historical context of the situation, the possibilities of assistance available in the Czech Republic, the definition of solidarity, ethics in social work and the ethical dilemma. The next section describes the creation of the community centre, highlighting three situations that were ethically ambiguous. They are therefore subsequently confronted with some of the ethical theories. The adaptation of the staff to the new situation is also examined in more detail, as the centre was established in an existing service with a different target group. Hence, the competencies of the staff in working with refugees are also addressed. The empirical findings come from qualitative research using methods of continuous observation and semi-structured interviews.
