Špirková, Petra ; Potůček, Martin (advisor) ; Nekolová, Markéta (referee)
The thesis "Analysis of the influence of demographic development on employment and employment policy of elderly people in the Czech republic" focuses on the specific position of elderly people in the labour market. In the event of redundancy, they tend to be under threat of long- term unemployment more often and to a greater extent than other groups in the labour market. The thesis describes in detail the current state of employment of elderly people in the Czech Republic and the European Union with respect to demographic trends, which - in addition to other consequences - also have a strong impact on the labour market. The aim of the thesis is to determine the main obstacles preventing greater involvement of elderly people in the labour market in the Czech Republic, and the direction employment policy should take in order to achieve greater efficiency. The basic hypothesis of the thesis is the idea that the implementation of an active employment policy in the Czech Republic is not effective enough in solving the unemployment issues of the elderly. Using four theoretical frameworks, the main deficiencies of the currently implemented employment policy with respect to elderly people and the causes thereof are identified. Theoretical foundations are also applied in discussing possible solutions to the...
The Policy of Elderly Employment in the Czech Republic
Škorvagová, Viktorie ; Lupač, Petr (advisor) ; Kuchař, Pavel (referee)
This thesis focuses on elderly employment, specifically on how employers reflect this issue in relation to the other two main actors - the state and the elderly. Data was collected through semi structured in-depth interviews with six HR managers from companies in the sector of services and it was analysed by the method of Grounded Theory, with the aim of bringing a general model of their behaviour. Apart from the model, the results bring several deeper insights into how employers perceive the 50+ workers as their employees and as candidates seeking a job. Respondents were also evaluating the states activities in this matter, with a closer focus on the tools of Active Employment Politics. Key words: Older worker, employment, employers, HR managers, state, Active Employment Politics, Grounded theory
Contemporary Social Context of Employing People Over 50
Bujárková, Kateřina ; Tomeš, Igor (advisor) ; Víšek, Petr (referee)
This thesis aims to describe the current state of employment of people over 50 in the Czech Republic, indicate the reasons and context of this situation and suggest possible solutions to the related issues. All these matters are explored within the context of the international development. The methods employed in this research are statistical analysis and the secondary analysis of documents. The research has brought evidence that Czech society has been changing enormously. Firstly, it is the ageing. And consequently, it faces the growing percentage of elderly people in the population, causing not only problems in the functioning of social protection systems, but also raising the necessity of changes in labour. Secondly, Czech society is undergoing a digital revolution. The increasing use of the Internet and new technologies transforms completely our way of living. The employment of people over 50 is becoming the economic necessity in our struggle to avoid the total collapse of social security systems, yet at the same time, it is complicated or sometimes even hindered by new demands on older workers by the digitalising economics. The importance of ICT competences and language knowledge grows constantly. However, elderly workers unfortunately lack these competences either entirely or at least...
