Specifies of nursing care in children with epilepsy.
KOBZOVÁ, Andrea
Epilepsy is one of the most common neurological conditions and can affect children of any age. Epilepsy is accompanied by many symptoms and similarly to other conditions requires specific treatment and care.. Children patients have difficulties to accept this fact and it is necessary to support them. This thesis called "Specifics of nursing care for epileptic children" consists of two parts. The theoretical part describes epilepsy, its types, symptoms, diagnosis, treatment and regiment. A large part focuses on nursing care for epileptic children. The empirical part of this bachelor thesis has three aims. The first aim was to find out common nursing practices when caring for children epileptic patients. The second aim was to find out the needs of hospitalized epileptic children. The last aim was to create an educative material for nurses working at standard hospital wards. A research question was set for each of these aims: What procedures do nurses use when looking after patients with epilepsy? What are the specifics of nursing when looking after a child hospitalized with epilepsy? What needs do children hospitalized with epilepsy have? The research for the empirical part was carried out using qualitative method of research. Nurses in University Hospital Brno and in the Motol Hospital were interviewed using the method of semi-structured interview to collect data.. Data such as age, gender, degree of education and length of experience of each nurse were also taken into account.. If necessary, further questions were asked to clarify the answer. If the nurse agreed, the interview was recorded on Dictaphone. Some interviews were written down word-by-word when the nurse did not agree with recording. The interviews were then typed into Microsoft Word 2007 and data was divided into the following categories: Specifics of hospitalization, Accompanying persons, Specifics of medical examination, Child's needs, Regimen, Specifics of nursing care, Safety, Communication rules. Diagrams were created in draw.io software. The research revealed facts and answers described below. It was revealed that when it comes to hospitalization, the look of the room and the care are very important, and that it is necessary to use a regular daily regimen. Emphasis was laid on children's safety; accommodating the child in a suitable room, preferably near the nurses' room; the furniture should have round edges; beds with side barriers; alarm. The interviewees' statements regarding hospitalization with or without a child's parent differ. Most interviewees replied that this depends on the child's age. It is suitable that a small child is accompanied by a parent during hospitalization, but this is not necessary in case of older children who sometimes do not even require this. The research also revealed that preparing a child for magnetic resonation also differs with age. Older children are only prepared psychologically. Small children are under general anaesthesia and the preparations are more demanding. When identifying the children's needs it was revealed that the most important needs of an epileptic child are independency and socialization. Children feel greatly limited because they cannot take part in evening parties, driving lessons, sports, they cannot do demanding and adrenalin sport activities or sports where they could fall from a height. The research revealed that during an epileptic fit it is important to measure its length, observe what part of the body the fit affects, what is its frequency, if he wets himself, drooling.. Not all interviewees confirmed that children should be prevented from movement during a fit. An important part of the nursing care is communication, which should have character of communication with a normal healthy child. This thesis can be used to educate and widen the nurses and parents' knowledge about the care for epileptic children. It can be also used as a teaching material for nurse trainees.

The lifestyl of pregnant women
HAVLOVIČOVÁ, Jolana Linda
The main objective of the degree paper includes the examination of the lifestyle and regimen of pregnant women and whether they try to eliminate potential risks which may negatively affect the foetal growth and development. The next objective of the degree paper is to contribute in the area of general dietary recommendations and principles of healthy lifestyle for better awareness and orientation of pregnant women as well as those who are just preparing for pregnancy, and to help them to avoid wrong dietary habits. For the sake of fulfilment of the second objective I divided the degree paper into several chapters, whereof the theory is focused on pregnancy from both physiological and psychological point of view, a suitable diet and the lifestyle connected with pregnancy. To verify the main objective a questionnaire-based survey was used in practice, examining the women{\crq}s attitude to healthy diet and other habits during pregnancy. Further, the survey tried to ascertain whether the women who participated in pregnancy courses are able to use the obtained information in practical life better than those pregnant women who did not attend such course. When comparing the results of survey the majority of questions showed a difference in dietary habits and lifesyle between individual groups of pregnant women. In general, the survey shows that majority of women know very well what they can and cannot afford during pregnancy in order not to endanger themselves and their baby in particular. This especially regards the elimination of risk factors and maintaining of healthy lifestyle. The degree paper shows that correct diet composition during pregnancy is important not only for the mother but namely for the baby. With a suitable diet, complications during pregnancy, labour as well as in the later child{\crq}s age can be prevented.

Education of patients with myocardial infarction within secondary care
RYBÁŘOVÁ, Jana
Myocardial infarction is the acute form of the coronary artery disease. The most common triggering effect is the rupture of an aterosclerotic plaque in a epicardial coronary artery that supplies heart with blood. The cardiovascular disease mortality in the Czech Republic is about 600 deaths per year per 100 000 persons. Also young people at productive age are being stricken by heart attack {--} as myocardial infarction is commonly known. To treat myocardial infarction effectively, it is necessary for the patient to follow all the principles of secondary care. The main demand is quitting smoking, changes in patient´s diet, reducing weight and increasing physical activity. The method of education is used to prevent the patient from recurrence of heart attack. The patient establishes new emotional and personal attitudes to his or her health. In the theoretical part of my thesis information on the anatomy and physiology of the heart, as well as general facts on the origin, symptoms and treatment of myodardial infarction are given. The issue of secondary prevention is dealt with at full length. The principles of the educational process, the appropriate communication with the patient and the choice of educational aids are mentioned. To meet the targets of the thesis the quantitative research was chosen. To collect relevant data I used the questionnaire method. The research was anonymous both for nurses and patients. There were 30 questions in questionnaires for nurses and 22 questions in questionnaires for patients. The research was conducted in March 2008 in the cardiology departments in hospitals in České Budějovice and Pardubice and in consulting rooms of cardiologists and internists in České Budějovice and Pardubice. I handed out 100 questionnaires to patients and 50 questionnaires to nurses. 79% patients and 98% nurses filled them in and sent them back to me. The objectives of the thesis was to examine if patients who have undergone myocardial infarction follow regimen instructions and if nurses give them enough information. The objectives were achieved. I formulated the following hypotheses in the practical part: H I: Patients are not informed by nurses about the principles of secondary care after undergoing myocardial infarction. This hypothesis was confirmed. H II: Patients do not follow the regimen instructions. This hypothesis was confirmed. H III: Nurses do not provide education for patients. This hypothesis was confirmed. The analysis of the data obtained shows that patients are informed about the principles of regimen but they do not always abide by them. The education provided by nurses is often done by handing over educative brochures and leaflets. The results of my research are applicable in practice. In the theoretical part patients who underwent myocardial infarction find a lot of useful information on the regimen {--} the plan to improve and maintain health. Nurses may learn how to provide the education effectively. This thesis can contribute to better awareness on the issue of secondary care for patients after myocardial infarction.
The influence of regimen in general nurses in three-shift operation on their bio-psycho-social needs
ČAMRHELOVÁ, Veronika
The right regimen is one of the factors influencing the ability to handle the requirements of medical profession. It is important for the nurses to realize how important the right diet and keeping to it not only at home but also at work is, especially in the three-shift operation. The survey was quantitative. Anonymous questionnaires for randomly chosen nurses were applied for data collection. The research survey was carried out at asylum and at the Hospital in Havlíčkův Brod. 120 questionnaires were distributed in total, of which 114 (100%) were used for the research survey. Three goals were set for this paper. To find out whether nurses working in three-shift operation eat regularly, whether nurses keep a drinking regime and whether they suffer due to their regimen from indigestion. The set goals were fulfilled in the paper. Three hypotheses were set, each of which related to one goal. The first hypothesis presumed nurses ate regularly. This hypothesis was not confirmed. The second hypothesis presumed nurses maintain drinking regime at work, which was confirmed. The third hypothesis presumed nurses do not suffer from indigestion due to their regimen. The survey has shown nurses believe the medical profession has an impact on their regimen, especially in irregular eating habits, lack of sleep, and besides they consider their work as the cause of stress. On the other hand the nurses maintaining of drinking regime and lack of indigestion problems was a surprising realization. Regular eating habits certainly are an indicator of regimen. However many nurses do not have regular eating habits. The results of the paper shall help to better understand the importance of the right regimen. Nurses should be acquainted with this issue.
