Applied art x object
Gotvaldová, Anna ; Pfeiffer, Jan (advisor) ; Tsikoliya, Lenka (referee)
In the theoretical part the bachelor thesis focuses on differences between applied art and object, their interplay, collaboration, but also competition between them. It outlines all aspects influencingthis boundary, whichcanquicklychange withinvarious contexts, and provides perspectives from which it can be viewed. It examines the historical development of applied art, design, and ceramics and compares their roles in artistic objects. It introduces significant authors and approaches of prominent designers, and artists. The practical part is devoted to the connection of authorial ceramic objects with Štěpán Tabery's glass lamp. It is a series of unconventional connections of disrupted lamp with ceramic objects, gradually transitioning from applied creation to a complete transformation of the original character of the lightning. Each version can be placed in a different environment supporting the idea of the power of presentation and post- production of the object. The resulting scale demonstrates the imaginary boundary between the world of design and art. In the didactic part, a draft of a semi-structured in- depth questionnaire mapping pupils' experiences with the area of teaching and conducting art education at primary school and in the lower grades of grammar school is created, focused on its...

Useless Things
Maloušková, Drahomíra ; Jeřábková, Edith (referee) ; Artamonov, Vasil (advisor)
Useless things. I normally use trash things like pattern in painting still life. My father suffers from obsessive compulsive disorder – accumulation of things. In addition to painting, I also work with objects themselves. My interest also closely related to how the concepts of the subject, object and artifact are appliing in contemporary art. There are the tradition of imitation fact, principle of ready-made, the issue of technical reproducibility and virtual reality of things in history of art. As a central theme of my thesis, I selected the part of bodywork Tatra 613, which carries all the testimony about ,,useless and hopeless "situation in which it is located. It is also an object monumental and visually very aesthetic. Yet it is not my intention to settle for the principle of redy-made. Asked about artwork as intermediaries art and its seemingly useless producing and reproducing, I want to try to create another such usless situation. That's why I make a cardboard copy (1: 1) of this object. I also make video with motive 3D copy of the same object. I like to create some voltage between that useless object and valuable art practice. I think, it does not just mean such futility when these objects will be viewed as an art.
Concept of the Neo-Avant-Garde in Peter Bürger's Theory of the Avant-Garde and following critical reaction by B. Buchloh and H. Foster
Jonášová, Markéta ; Stejskal, Jakub (advisor) ; Kaplický, Martin (referee)
The thesis deals with the question of the relationship between historical avant-garde movements and the repetition of its main artistic strategies in the neo-avant-garde after the Second World War. The primary resource to deal with this topic is the theory of Peter Bürger, because his book Theory of the Avant-garde represents a very influential and complex conception of the relationship between the two phenomena. Bürger's harsh critique of the neo-avant-garde, which he derives from his concept of the meaning and intentions of the historical avant-garde, is criticised in particular by Benjamin Buchloh and Hal Foster, two American critics of contemporary art. The aim of the thesis is to show, on the grounds of Buchloh's and Foster's critique, the usefulness of Bürger's conception when theorizing neo- avant-garde phenomena and its relationship with the historical avant-garde movements.
