Living in the suburbs

The subject of my bachelor's thesis is to design a residential building on the outskirts of Brno. The building site is located on the outskirts of Líšeň, in a lucrative area near Mariánské valley. During the process it was necessary to consider the specific northern slope of the building site and thus make maximum use of a limited amount of natural light. I designed a house with seven housing units, common areas and commercial space. The apartment complex consists of two buildings. The main one has an L-shaped floor plan and there are all housing units, including garages, cellars and technical facilities. The second building is also L-shaped, but this time frontal viewed, there is a commercial space with a glass wall to the main street, space for facilities and on the roof there is a spacious walking terrace for social life and a small common room. The two objects together create a semi-public space. This courtyard is optically separated from the busy streets by the buildings themselves. There is greenery and the space is ideal for young families with small children. Another widely used space will be the garden, a strip of greenery left in the southern part of the plot. The residential building itself is very indented in terms of material. Four terraces and three atriums are taken from the whole mass of the letter L, which creates a private outdoor space for the residents. Terraces and atriums are only in the maisonettes, so that even bedsits located on the ground floor have a private outdoor seating area. There are also ground-floor terraces, which are accessible from each living room. The construction is actually a wall system made of Porotherm bricks. Ferroconcrete columns are used in the underground parking spaces. Horizontal load-bearing structures are ferroconcrete monolithic ceilings. The material solution is clean and simple. The façade is light grey with a concrete screed on the plinth and anthracite-colored doors and window frames.
Small apartments, Mojmirovo namesti in Brno
Zaoralová, Hana ; Erben, Adam (referee) ; Pavlovský, Tomáš (advisor)
This bachelor’s thesis is based on the school work from the subject AG033 – Architectural design studio 3. The architectural design deals with a new housing building, which is situated in Brno – Královo Pole, on Chaloupkova and Košinova street. The construction site consists of several parcels unified under one owner. The construction of low-rise houses and a car workshop are currently located on these plots, but their demolition is planned. The investor also wanted a communication link between the new building and the adjacent parking house, which he also owns. The plot is adjacent to a care center for the blind and purblind people, a primary school and a parking house, which is connected to the new housing building by a galerry. The new building combines the function of housing on the upper floors, as well as a doctor's office, rentable studios, a cafe or several sales areas. In the two underground floors, there are storrage cubicles and parking, which can be accessed by two car lifts. The construction site has an elongated shape with a corner to the south Its eastern side connects to Košinova street. Close to this place, there are both 4-5 storey buildings and low-rise family houses with 1-2 storeys. Due to dimension of the streets, the height is important. The highest floor of the building was set back from the street. At the same time, the building complements the gap and thus contributes to a better intergrated surrounding development. The building is designed as a combination of wall and skeleton frame support systém, where the skeleton frame is used ih the underground floors, and the wall support systém is used in the higher floors.
Gap options (třída Kapitána Jaroše, Brno, CZ)
Lapeš, Jiří ; Krajčová, Petra Křivánek (referee) ; Ponešová, Barbora (advisor)
The topic of my bachelor's thesis is the design of a suitable object for a recess on the class of Captain Jaroš, who can bring added value to the locality and thereby enrich it. The subject of my proposal was a marketplace with options own cultivation in the form of a greenhouse. Although we can register a number of shopping centers and chains, the hunger for alternative food shopping is still insufficiently satisfied. The function of markets is thus tried to be represented by farmers' markets, which, however, are mostly temporary character. The project tries to respond to this issue and strives to create a pleasant, a generous space bringing suitable conditions for both shoppers, so for the seller. This plot has great potential and meets the attributes for the creation of a successful marketplace, as a peaceful place, but at the same time close to the city center. In close proximity to an attractive natural feature, such as the city park Lužánky and easily accessible by public transport.
