The Bachelor thesis The Smartphone Phenomenon deals with the recent phenomenon of smartphones. Its aim is to place this phenomenon into selected parts of Castells' concept of network society. This work builds on Castells' concept and also tries to add some new facts to it. The author's attempt it to reach his goals through quantitative research done as a case study on heavy smartphone users. The author had done a series of semi-structured interviews and tried to obtain the data also through an experiment, in which the respondent's smartphones were taken away from him or her for one day. In the analytical part, the author analyses these interviews and experiments. The results of the analysis are categorized based on topics selected beforehand, in accordance with the theoretic background. The author then discusses the analytical and theoretical parts. This work emphasized the newly discovered aspects, which bring smartphones into the concept of network society.

Copyright law is a special category of civil law which, with the upswing of the Internet, has become important for different types of stakeholders in the global information society. The 'participative web' operates with content generated by users. This user-generated content has often disputable origins in terms of copyright clearance. The Internet has opened the possibility for developing new forms of communication between anonymous or individual users who are not easily identifiable. Especially peer-to-peer file sharing and recently the information services offered and operated by the so-called 'cyberlockers' are the reason of questioning the role of copyright protection online which needs a beneficial solution. Copyright infringement in the era of information society is a complex phenomenon with a multiplicity of contributing factors like the importance of information data with big business potential, personal attitudes shown by internet users towards the value and scarcity of intellectual property, or legal responsibility of internet service providers (ISP) who paradoxically act from the safety of the so-called safe harbours as intermediaries of information exchange, representing a new element in the communication chain between rights holders and users. Jan Pokorný, Ph.D. Abstrakt The aim of this diploma thesis is the design, implementation and development of database applications for portal Andromedia using database technology. The solution is designed as an information base for continuing professional education. The purpose of the databank is gradually collect information of trends and analyzes in the field of continuing education, ideas and practices, methods, teaching aids, case studies, tests and other guidelines and sources of information. Author documented the results of the analysis of the problem and created solution using methods of project management solutions. The new solution is graphic design, database design and description using the RF model, and UML diagrams. A book captured by networks: the electronic book as a new social phenomenon of a global network society

This work describes the electronic book as a medium of the information age which fully corresponds to the requirements of effective dissemination of information in a global network infosphere. The first part of the thesis deals with definitions of basic terms. The second part outlines the position of the electronic book in the context of conflict between two environments - print and digital. An electronic book is presented as a product of social and technological changes. The new media's attributes of an electronic book are described. Problems emerging from the different nature of print and digital environments are highlighted, covering selected points of view of copyright problems in a digital world. The third part explains the problems of libraries in the network environment. Libraries are described as institutions in the process of adapting to the new forms of services including the provision of electronic books. The new role of libraries in the network environment is clarified as well as the reactions of the professional library community to the new challenges for libraries.
