Frídlová, Klára ; Pech, Milan (advisor) ; Czumalo, Vladimír (referee)
The thesis deals with the topic of the representation of the Christian themes in the Old and New Testament in the Czech art in the forties and fifties of the twentieth century. There are two time spans that are observed. The first one begins with the commencement of the Second World War and ends in 1948. The second period dates from 1948 until 1960. The text attempts to capture the biblical motifs that appeared most frequently in the works of artists during the 1940s and 1950s. Furthermore, it tries to explain why authors chose the given biblical motifs. This work is dedicated to the artists who were working with the Christian themes for their whole life as well as to those whose works were influenced by these subjects for only a short period of time. Jeruzalémský chrám a jeho zkáza (Zpracování tématu v Tanachu) The Jerusalem Temple and its Destruction (The Treatement of the Subject in the Tanach) Věra Razáková The thesis "The Jerusalem Temple and its Destruction (The Treatment of the Subject in the Tanakh)" deals with the events that led to the destruction of the Jerusalem Temple. It is the analysis aimed to map causes of the destruction of the First Temple in the biblical texts of the Tanakh. The paper follows the creation and formation of the G-d's people in the selected texts of the Tanakh. It shows many repeated warnings against breaking of the Law (The Torah), the Law accepted by the people of Israel at the Sinai. These warnings come from the G-d through prophets. There is a forgiveness coming from the G-d the Merciful and there are punishments coming from the Adonai the Righteous. The attempts to return to the G-d (tšuva) and to process the religious reforms are replaced by apostasy, forgetting or rejecting of the Law, the maintanance of idolatry. The destruction of the Solomon Temple came as the punishement from the G-d. According to the rabbinical tradition there were three basic sins marked as the gravest ones: idolatry (in many different forms), bloodshed and forbidden sexual behaviour. Those were announced to be punished by expulsion...
An analysis of expression- and content-oriented passages of the Torah: Texts of the Torah in the semiotic perspective of Charles S. Peirce, Yuri Lotman and Umberto Eco
Jezný, Samuel ; Sláma, Petr (advisor) ; Rückl, Jan (referee)
An analysis of expression- and content-oriented passages of the Torah: Texts of the Torah in the semiotic perspective of Charles S. Peirce, Yuri Lotman and Umberto Eco The aim of the presented thesis is to introduce the basic semiotic concepts of Charles Sanders Peirce, Yuri M. Lotman and Umberto Eco. These ideas should be beneficial for the interpretation of the Bible in the Czech republic and Slovakia: particularly in the Old Testament area. The thesis also proposes a new classification of the Torah's texts, and so identify, which functions could be subserved by the particular text. Finally, we intend to draft a new, slightly different model of exegesis, which could help us find new interesting interpretations of the Old Testament texts. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)

Blehová, Ivana ; Sláma, Petr (advisor) ; Čapek, Filip (referee)
This thesis focus on analysis of five Hebrew verbs, whose meaning is "to kill", and their translation in four Czech translations of the Bible. The aim is to evaluate, based on context in which those verbs are used in Pentateuch, particular meaning of each of them, especially the verb used in the commandment "You shall not kill". At the same time this thesis aims to analyze how Czech translations of the Bible take account of the diversity of those verbs. The verb used in the sixth commandment has small sphere of contexts, in which it is used, and very specific meaning. Of the four examined translations, only Český studijní překlad fully reproduces this aspect of biblical text.

Men{\crq}s relation to animals in The Old Testament and nowadays
VINŠOVÁ, Jaroslava
This bachelor work only consists of a theoretical part which is divided into three main parts. The first one deals with men{\crq}s relation to animals in the Old Testament. It tries to define what determined this specific relation and what animal meant to human. The second part deals with men{\crq}s attitude to animals nowadays. It describes special ethical aspects that negatively affect animals, e.g. anthropomorphization of animals or, in the contrary, their degradation to mere objects. The third part tries to find a certain connecting link between present world and the Old Testament age and thus find an inspiration for today.
