Usage of Open Source Software in the Czech Public Administration

This thesis deals with problems of open source software and its usage in an organization. The thesis is divided into three main parts; first of them describes the definiton, history, characteristic and actual offer of open source software; second part moves us to the Public Administration world, where it surveys stage of implementation of open source software in some countries around the world and in the Czech Republic especially; third part uses gained finding from the previous parts to design application architecture to particular conditions of The University of Economics, Prague. First of the main goals of this thesis is to analyse possibilities of implementation of open source software instead of closed software. Next one is to chart the state of implementation of this type of software into Public Administration field in the Czech Republic and abroad. Last objective is to project application architecture with usage of open source software to particular condition of The University of Economics, Prague. These goals was achieved by studying many information resources, discussions with specialist, including of representatives of the state, about the given topics, and further analyse of current conditions of The University of Economics, Prague. Benefits of this thesis are especially compact view on open source software, further the survey of opinions of representatives of state, representatives of towns and next specialists on this type of software a its possibilities of usage in public administration. Last but not least benefit is to desing the application architecture to particular, rather complex, environment of The University of Economics, Prague.
Seniors and Computers - computer choice criteria, possibilities of usage, health hazard

This bachelor thesis is intended mainly for elderly people, who have no or minimal experiences with computers. The first part is focused on computer and internet connection choice and analyses current situation on the market. The author warns of problems that are linked to the choice of hardware, software and internet connection. In the second part are introduced chosen internet services, which could be useful for beginners. The third part deals with health hazards that are connected to the using of computers.
Scrum methodology

Scrum methodology is commonly used methodology now, because of its high ability to adapt to changing requirements and its transparency of development. Scrum does not offer set of techniques or exact progression but shows framework- how to look at the development of correct software. This thesis focuses on description and explanation of the methodology's practices, roles and rules. Additionally it contains analysis of the project phases and the artifacts which the developing team encountered during their work. The goal of this work is to present a complete description of the methodology, which is followed by practical using IBM's software Rational Team Concert. This bachelor thesis can be used for education on university campuses or as a practical aid for developing teams making use of the benefits of this agile methodology.

Diploma thesis defines the elements of legal protection of copyright and intellectual property rights, which plays an important role in nowadays software development. It contains a general evaluation of the legal protection of copyright and its dynamics in the near future, which depends on the situation on the IT market, changes in the structure of customers, including their requirements. Maps the feedback between copyright law and the problems of business processes accompanying technical side of software development and modifications. Maps software links with third party products, development tools and its relationship to copyright issues. It describes distribution models and promotion to promote protection of computer programs.

Next chapter describes the relation between information technologies and Category Management. The following chapter introduces software tools for Category Management used by GlaxoSmithKline, s.r.o. The last chapter of the thesis is devoted to case study of cooperation with international retailer Tesco.
Suitability analysis of use free/open source software for legal person

My Bachelor thesis deals with use of free/open source software as alternative to traditional proprietary software. In theoretical part of thesis, I'm describing kinds of software, forms of its spreading and types of licenses, we can meet. In second part of this section of thesis, I introduce reader to some basic concepts of open source operating systems with the most common applications. In practical part of thesis I devote to particular model of application open source software in public administration. The model is situated in municipal authority of Hořice v Podkrkonoší. As criteria for consideration about successfulness in implementation of alternative variant of software I used total costs of ownership against costs spent to the proprietary variant. In the end of my thesis I evaluate results of application part and general relationship of information technology market with open source software.

Práce se zabývá vývojovými stadii podnikových informačních systémů s důrazem na jednotlivé softwarové aplikace z oblasti logistiky. Porovnává modulový a procesní přístup k výstavbě softwarového řešení. V praktické části vyhledává vhodné aplikace pro jednotlivé oblasti logistiky, podle specifik zvoleného podniku střední velikosti - oblast skladové evidence s čárovými kódy, VoIP telefonie, internetového připojení, elektronické fakturace, fleetware, klasického EDI a WEBEDI.
Software for project management in conditions of organization's project management

Final thesis deals with functions and usage of software for project management in the specific conditions of project management background of organization. Introduction into project management software presents it's characteristics, usage and roles when providing support of project management activities and procedures. Models of organization's project management are defined by investigation of usage of software for project management in the specific conditions of organization. Based on detailed analysis of software functions we define functional spectra, which specify importance of functional areas of software for every model of organization's project management. Such concept of functinal spectra can be used when evaluating suitability of using existing software for project management in terms and conditions of concrete organization. Last chapter of the thesis gives example of usage of functional spectra concept for selection of the software which fits the best to the project management background of the company.
Discrete event simulation in MS Excel

The topic of this thesis is discrete event simulation. The thesis introduces basic principles of discrete event simulation and Add-in SIMULANT for MS EXCEL 2007, which was created as a part of this thesis. Description of algorithms used in SIMULANT add-in and user guide are included in this thesis.
Problems of licensing

This work concerns with possibilities of licensing. There are mentioned advantages and disadvantages of particular models. Further on, the prediction of future situation in the IT market, new techniques, trends and reasons of these changes are introduced. Work addresses to both types of software -- proprietary software and Open Source software. Next part of work deals with software piracy and problems, which are connected with it. In second part of the work are theoretical knowledge converted into practice. There is examined license politics of Microsoft and possibilities which are offered to different customers. The final part concerns with two firms which operate on Czech market. There is a view to licenses, which are owned by firms, followed by recommendation of optimization.
