Awareness of social workers the authority of social - legal protection of children's activities and the importance of children's diagnostic institute

This bachelor thesis is divided into two main parts. In the theoretical part I give the definition of basic terms which are the content of this work. I deal with the definition of a child and problem behaviour of the child, family and its types and its main function. I specify the main and the most important lawful adjustments of Department of Social and Legal Protection of Children. I give the definition of an institutional education, activity and progress in children´s diagnostic institute and the main reasons for placement of children. The main aim of the practical part is to determine the range of awareness of social workers about the activities of Children´s Diagnostic Institute, who place children to the diagnostic institutes. The sub-aim is to find out if the social workers encounter the activities of Children´s Diagnostic Institute and describe their knowledge about the Children´s Diagnostic Institute and about the reasons, which serve as the impulse for the court at the children with behaviour problems and disorders. I used the strategy of qualitative research, the questioning method and the technique of half-structured conversation in my research. The research file was formed by ten social workers who work in the Department of Social and Legal Protection of Children, which are located in the villages of the South Bohemia Region. The random selection method to select the file was chosen. The summary of statements of the social workers shows that they know about the activities and the content of the diagnostic institute. The social workers from the Department of Social and Legal Protection of Children had studied the information on the issues using the Internet, specialised literature but after some time they gained the personal experience with this facility. This work could be used to improve the awareness of OSPOD social workers and other people dealing with children's behaviour disorders.

The issue of social prevention services for at risk families in the chosen region

This thesis deals with problems of social prevention services for at-risk families with children in the selected location. The main objective for the author is whether the current institutional conditions for provision of social prevention for vulnerable families it possible to avoid placing children in institutional care. The second main objective is to identify problems related to the provision of these services within the institutional settings. The author, using several theoretical and factual resources, describes given issue and translates it to the enviroment of the village with extended powers Ústí nad Labem. Through expert research with selected involved we identified the main barriers which prevent the satisfactory provision of social prevention in the selected location. In Ústí nad Labem there is the highest number of at-risk families with children in the Czech Republic and social prevention services at the location in question are not sufficiently supported neither financially nor in terms off staff.

Comparison of temporary foster/professional care in the Czech and Slovak Republics

The substitute family care is a very important part of family policy, which gives the child the opportunity to grow up in a family where its needs are met. One of the types of the substitute care is the temporary foster care which is the aim of this bachelor thesis. The thesis describes the institutional conditions of family care systems for a temporary period in the Czech and Slovak Republics, consequently the systems are compared. In the Czech Republic, the institute is called the foster care for a temporary period, in Slovakia, the institute is called the professional families. The significance of both institutes is to meet the individual needs of the child through daylong care of foster parents. Also, raising the child in a family environment is important, individual learns to create ties there. The aim of the thesis is to compare the systems of temporary foster care in the Czech and Slovak Republics and to uncover factors that cause similarities and differences. The main analytical approach in thesis is a comparative method. Predominantly analyzed are public policy documents and other secondary data.

Analysys of the current system of solutions of domestic violence in the Czech Republic focusing on the care of children as witnesses

The diploma thesis "Analysis of the current system solutions for domestic violence in the Czech Republic, focusing on the care of children as witnesses" investigates the system of dealing with cases of domestic violence where children are witnesses of such violence. The paper maps processes and work methods with individual family members who are affected by domestic violence, further evaluates the adequacy and effectiveness of these procedures and also the impact of these procedures on individual family members. Individual actors who may have influence on the issue, their relations, cooperation possibilities and their potential in shaping the policy were also examined and evaluated. At last but not least, the thesis investigates communication channels that are available to the involved actors and their effectiveness. The presented thesis is mainly based on studies of available and relevant sources, on information from interviews with personnel of the social and legal children protection institutions and on answers provided by staff of the social and legal children protection organs in the survey.
