The origin and development of the magazine Gól between 1968-1989
Hamplová, Kateřina ; Lukšů, David (advisor) ; Bednařík, Petr (referee)
This bachelor thesis explores the origin and development of the sports magazine Gól, which centers in on the two most popular sports - football and ice hockey. The aim of the thesis is to present the origin of Gól in 1968 and to map its subsequent development until 1989. It also examines the environment of Czech sports journalism in the second half of the 1960s and the Olympia publishing house, which published Gól throughout the period of normalization. I examined 22 issues of the magazine, analyzed its structure and focused on its content agenda and graphic design. The thesis describes the main sections of Gól and also examines the influence of the communist regime on the magazine's content. It also focuses on the editorial personalities who shaped the form of the magazine. I conducted semi-structured interviews with former editors Jaroslav Kolář, Pavel Bárta, Stanislav Hrabě, Přemysl Hrubý and Jiří Macků, whose utterances helped me gather valuable information about the development of the traditional magazine.

The end of the first wave of feminism in Czechoslovakia
Junger, Vojtěch ; Hyánková, Tereza (advisor) ; Horáková, Hana (referee)
This bachelor Thesis deals with the question of the end of the first wave of feminism and the decline of the feminist movement in interwar Czechoslovakia, considering the development until 1948. The Thesis presents and analyses the reasons why, despite a progressive constitution and an emancipation-leaning society, it was not possible to achieve a greater gender equality. The Thesis is divided into three main parts. The first part presents the theoretical framework of the first wave of feminism and the feminist movement, as well as the historical context of Czech and Czechoslovakian feminism. The second part problematizes political system in Czechoslovakia in relation to women's emancipation, especially parliamentarism, the party system, the limits of democracy, and also the concept of the family. The third part of the Thesis describes and analyses the feminist movement as such, its relationship to the state and society, its strategies and ideological foundations, the formation of women's group consciousness, the mobilization potential of the women's movement and the relationship between democracy and feminism. The work is interdisciplinary - based on gender analysis, it examines the development of a historical phenomenon (the first wave of feminism) in politics and society, while compiling...
Life and business of Jindřich Fišer and his descendants
Kreuz, Vojtěch ; Pokorná, Magdaléna (advisor) ; Foltýn, Dušan (referee)
This work is about Jindřich Fišer, but also about several of his descendants, who in their lives devoted themselves mainly to the operation of various gastronomic enterprises in the ter- ritory of the capital city of Prague. In writing the work I based mainly on various archival ma- terials, which are stored in the Archives of the capital city of Prague, the National Archives or in the State Regional Archives in Prague. However, I was also supported by newspaper articles or materials from the private archives of living persons. In addition to the already mentioned Jindřich Fišer, who operated a brewery in Přerov nad Labem at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, the text focuses on the life stories of two of his sons - Václav, who between the years 1938 and 1948 operated with his son Zdeněk the Café Slavia near the National Theatre, and Jindřich, who connected his life with a bar of not very good reputation in the Old Town Square. Part of the second chapter is also devoted to the business activities of one of Jindřich's grandsons, Jaroslav Fišer, and his confectionery in Hy- bernská Street in the New Town of Prague. However, in addition to the life stories of the men- tioned persons, the work also tries to capture legal issues related to business during the First Czechoslovak Republic or the...
Czechoslovakia and the Maastricht Treaty
ČAPKOVÁ, Anna
The bachelor thesis deals with the gradual transformation of the European Communities into the European Union since the 1980s, which was created on the basis of the signing of the official document (the Maastricht Treaty) in Maastricht, the Netherlands, in 1992. This treaty made a major contribution to the deepening of European integration and was also a significant event for the former Eastern bloc states, including the Czechoslovak Republic. The text also deals with the relations between the former Czechoslovakia and the European Community. The socio-political changes initiated in November 1989 meant, among other things, an attempt to 'return to Europe'. This slogan was used to express a certain effort to reintegrate back into the geopolitical space of an integrated Europe.
Cities, exhibitions and exhibition grounds: how exhibitions affected the cities
Štěpánková, Lenka
Before the end of nineteenth century universal exhibitions, specialised shows and trade fairs became inherent part of both local economy and social and cultural life in Bohemian and Moravian cities. The temporary exhibition grounds where such events were staged from the beginning were gradually replaced by permanent exhibition grounds, and later in the interwar period, major part of the cities in Czechoslovakia either established permanent exhibition venues, or had at least some place reserved for events. Exhibition venues as well as events themselves were affected by the outbreak of WW II and subsequent change of the regime. Their further development in following decades reflected the realities of centrally planned economy and cultural and social life organised and supervised by state authorities. Then the end of the Cold War brought the collapse of planned economy and outset of liberalisation, which often led to rapid changes in the cities and unrestrained transformations of urban structure, exhibition venues included. Future research pertaining the exhibition grounds should cover their historical development and explain how the exhibition grounds and venues can be described and specified in regional spatial plans and other documents. The outcomes of such research should be of importance to heritage care and protection as well. Regarding the interdisciplinary character of the subject, the research is to be carried also in related fields, e.g. art history, economy history, event management, regional studies and the like.

Appreciated Officer, Unloved Commander. Bedřich Neumann and the Czechoslovak Army
Maršálek, Zdenko
Bedřich Neumann's career as a professional officer began as a Czechoslovak Legionnaire during the First World War. In the interwar army he was not one of the highhest-top generals, but he was one of the most respected experts of the “upper middle management” of the army. A steep career culminated during the Second World War with his activities first in the Resistance at Home and then with the Czechoslovak Army-in-Exile. He became one of the main targets of Communist propaganda seeking to weaken the position of the London government-in-exile, and the rise of the Communists in 1945 brought his career to a halt. After emigrating in 1948, Neumann – for the third time – became actively involved in the foreign struggle for freedom and independence of his homeland. However, the outstanding theorist and staff officer is still not appreciated even until today, and the effects of targeted slander and the denigration of communist propaganda in particular still linger on his memory.
Minority Rights and Possibilities of Identification of the Hungarian Minority in Czechoslovakia on Žitný ostrov in 1969-1989
Ročkár, Matej ; Juhászová, Tereza (advisor) ; Klípa, Ondřej (referee)
The thesis deals with the minority rights of the Hungarian minority in Czechoslovakia in the period 1969 - 1989. The thesis focuses on the impact of the state's minority policy on the everyday life of Hungarians on Žitný ostrov, which is one of the regions with the strongest proportion of Hungarians of all regions in Slovakia. The period between 1969 and 1989 was marked not only by the normalisation processes following the invasion of the Warsaw Pact troops but also by the federalisation of Czechoslovakia. Thanks to this, some of the competencies that had an impact on the daily life of national minorities were transferred to the level of Slovakia as one of the state-forming units. This thesis aims to find out how members of the Hungarian minority experienced the period of normalisation. To answer this question, research was conducted in the form of personal interviews with witnesses. Their memories and experiences of the period under study are confronted in the thesis with the minority legislation in force at the time. The main part of the thesis is devoted to the possibility of identification of the Hungarian minority. First of all, it focuses on the possibility of using the mother tongue in the public space, education, access to media, information and culture in the Hungarian language....
