Hlaváčková, Hana ; Kučerík, Jiří (referee) ; Řezáčová, Veronika (advisor)
There is currently an effort to replace conventional plastics with biodegradable products that will have the ability to replace these substances. One of the possible biodegradable felt, which is currently being studied in detail, is also poly (3-hydroxybutyrate), which is produced by bacteria. This bachelor thesis deals with the sorption of selected substances on poly(3-hydroxybutyrate) microparticles. Substances whose contamination of water sources is a significant problem today have been selected for this work. Specifically, the sorption of the nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory substance ibuprofen, the triazole fungicide tebuconazole and the most common drug caffeine on PHB particles, which fall in the size of the microplastic group, were studied. The method of liquid chromatography with mass detection was used for analyzes.
Determination of content of selected nonsteroidal antiphlogistic – Ibuprofen in drugs using UV/Vis and FTIR spectrometry
Lindovský, Jiří ; Sovová, Šárka (referee) ; Enev, Vojtěch (advisor)
The main aim of bachelor thesis was to validate the content of the nonsteroidal antiphlodstic in drugs using spectrometric methods and subsequent comparison of results. Specifically, the thesis is focused on Ibuprofen, which is used mainly as analgesic and antipyretic. This substance was chosen for its significant ability of absorbing electromagnetic radiation in ultraviolet and infrared regions of spectra. For this purpose, various generics were selected and analyzed by molecular absorption spectrometry (UV/Vis) and infrared spectrometry with Fourier transform (FTIR). Very important factor influencing chemometric properties of the obtained results was optimalization of the spectrometric methods. After designing the working procedure, sample solutions were prepared from Ibuprofen-containing dosage forms using suitable solvent and these samples were analyzed spectrometrically. The content of Ibuprofen in individual samples was calculated from the measured UV/Vis and FTIR spectra using method of standard addition. The results show that infrared spectrometry seems to be more suitable method for determining the Ibuprofen content. Nevertheless, it should be noted that the choice of a suitable extractant is very important step in the determination. The information obtained from this bachlor’s thesis could be used in future routine inspections and monitoring of drugs.

Dušek, Jakub ; Pekař, Miloslav (referee) ; Mravec, Filip (advisor)
This paper builds on previous research of aminoclay complexes in undergraduate studies. Theoretical part deals with study of current problems of aminoclay complexes with bioactive substances and the choice of substances for complexing with aminoclay. The experimental part consists of preparation of aminoclay complexes with selected bioactive agents at various concentrations. Verification of binding of bioactive agents to the aminoclay matrix was performed by Elemental Analysis (EA) and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR). For finding of the bound amount of bioactive substance were used the Ultra Performance Liquid Chromatography (UPLC®) and analysis of the cytotoxic properties of the formed complexes by used by the MTT assay. The main motivation of this study is to create new complexes with improved characteristics that would replace existing forms of substances used in pharmaceutical and biomedical applications.
Adsorption of pharmaceuticals from aqueous solutions onto clay minerals
Vallová, S. ; Sokolová, B. ; Valovičová, Věra ; Plevová, Eva
The objective of this work was to investigate to possibility of clay minerals for the removal of drugs from aqueous solutions. Natural minerals such as montmorillonite, vermiculite, kaolinite and modified montmorillonites KSF and K10 (intercalated by Fe3+) were used as potential sorbents for three analgetics: paracetamol, ibuprofen and diclofenac from aqueous solutions. This research demonstrated that adsorption of all three pharmaceuticals onto natural untreated clay minerals, except paracetamol sorption on Na-MMT, is negligible. On the other hand, the chemically modified montmorillonites demonstrated significant sorption ability in the order diclofenac>ibuprofen>paracetamol.
Removal efficiency of selected drugs by various sorptive materials from water
Štofko, Jakub ; Mravcová, Ludmila (referee) ; Vávrová, Milada (advisor)
This thesis deals with sorption of selected drugs from model water by various sorption materials. Contamination of water resources by the pharmaceutical industry is a major problem today. Wastewater treatment plants, whose technological processes are unable to completely remove them, have a significant share in the penetration of these substances into the environment. At present, attention is paid to alternative materials that are capable of eliminating these substances. One of the potential sorption materials is biochar as one of the main pyrolysis products. This work focused on the assessment of the sorption properties of the different types of biochar and commercially used active charcoal. The sorption properties of the individual materials were compared with respect to the non-steroidal anti-inflammatory substance ibuprofen and the sulphonamide antibiotic sulfamethoxazole. The results of vial experiments were analysed on a liquid chromatograph with mass detection.
Use of plasma for degradation of ibuprofen in water
Bača, Ondřej ; Landová, Pavlína (referee) ; Mravcová, Ludmila (advisor)
This Bachelor’s thesis deals with the current problem of increasing concentrations of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs in water. The concentration increase of these drugs is due to rised anti-inflammatory drugs intake in modern era. Wastewater treatment plants are not capable of sufficient elimination of these drugs in wastewater. That leads to contamination of groundwater and surface water. The long-term impacts of these drugs on human health is not fully understood, so it is necessary to develop new methods, which will lead to complete degradation of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and other pollutants. Theoretical part of the Bachelor’s thesis focuses on description and properties of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and their consumption in the Czech Republic. Furthermore, the paper deals with advanced oxidation processes especially with plasma. This part of the paper also deals with determination of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs in water. For degradation of ibuprofen was used plasma. During the plasma treatment, samples were taken in regular time intervals, which were afterwards determined by an appropriate analytical method LC-ESI-MS. The results were compared with scientific studies dealing with this topic.
