This work deals with problems of communications protocols and servers. Primarily protocols TCP/IP are described. Next four the most used IM protocols (account of log in, communications and security) are described. Protocols for voice communications and problems of software phone systems are described here. Also database systems especially LDAP are mentioned here. A practical working is a part of this work too – a putting server for voice communications and sending messages and database LDAP into service. The process for putting the servers into service, connecting competent clients, and last but not least communications with LDAP are described.
XMPP protocol Jabber features and its utilization for multimedia transmission
Havlena, Petr ; Průša, Zdeněk (referee) ; Šmirg, Ondřej (advisor)
Master’s thesis is trying to create opensource IM application for communication in Jabber network. In nowadays it is getting more and more popularity as at providers, so mainly at end users. In first half of thesis are explained basics of whole issues and in second half is described resulting application, which has been created by using of object oriented programming language Java. Java is very extended between programmers for her simplicity and great support. Thanks this is available a many external libraries and extensions. Development of XMPP client in JavaScript
Chromický, Václav ; Pecinovský, Rudolf (advisor) ; Šlajchrt, Zbyněk (referee)
The goal of this thesis is to implement a modular instant messaging client for communication via the XMPP protocol. Firstly, the thesis explains the importance of the XMPP protocol within the context of the current largest instant messaging networks. The thesis then follows with description of the protocol itself and examines further technologies used for the development of the client application. An enumeration of requirements is then built. The requirements form two layers. The first layer proposes base functionality for communication via the XMPP protocol. The second layer then builds upon the features of the first layer and delivers end-user functionality. The resulting application is avaliable as an attachment of this thesis. The thesis concludes with two handbooks. The first one is a developers handbook describing the development of extending modules, the second handbook is a user guide for end-users of the instant messaging client.

Using Instant Messaging for Communication with Customers
Kolafa, Ondřej ; Pavlíček, Antonín (advisor) ; Toman, Prokop (referee)
Instant messaging is an internet service allowing watching status of their friends and sending text messages or computer files to them. Main difference between instant messaging and electronic mail is in speed of delivering messages. The messages are send and delivered in fractions of seconds. Receiver is actively notified in the time, when message came. This kind of modern communication makes its way into commercial sector. However the enterprises don't use the same services as people use in their homes. Although there are enterprises allowing customers to communicate by standard protocols. This work is aiming to describe actual situation of instant messaging technologies in Czech Republic, to enlighten the attitude of commercial sector to IM communication with customers and to choose the right protocols and clients. In the beginning the work is looking on electronic communications at large, describing their specifics and security risks. The next part is focusing on history and present status of instant messaging and trying to forecast the future tendencies. In the third part, the work is aiming on Czech market, his specifics and present state. Parts of this research are questionnaires which have been given to the costumers and to the enterprises as well as test conversations. In the next part, the work is describing instant messaging protocols and their clients. Showing the differences between technologies and where can be some difficulties with using them. This part is ending with matching protocols and clients. The last part sums up existing findings and tries to sketch out close future.
