Use of accounting information in the financial analysis

The description of the methods which are suitable for the evaluation of the financial position of a company with utilization of processes and instruments of the financial analysis creates the theoretical base of this diploma thesis. There is the description and analysis of the financial statements constructed according to the Czech rules and according to the International financial reporting standards IAS/IFRS. The financial statements present one of the possible resources of information suitable for financial analysis. The instruments, the methods and the processes of the financial analysis are applied for the analysis of the company ČEZ, a.s. in the practical part of this thesis. The analysis should evaluate the history and the present condition of the financial position of this company. In the conclusion of this thesis there is summary of the financial situation of the company ČEZ, a.s. based on the outcomes of the financial analysis.

Financial analysis and its application in practice

Financial analysis is one of the most important areas of financial planning. In the introductory part of this thesis is therefore concerned with its meaning. Then I focus on the sources from which financial analysis draws - Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Statement of Cash Flows, Notes to the financial statements and Annual Report. The next part describes the various methods used in financial analysis, particularly focusing on ratio indicators, analysis of indicators of status, solvent and bankruptcy models. For the practical part, I chose the brewery Budweiser Budvar n.p., to which I apply these different methods.

Application of comprehensive business evaluation methods on a particular company

The graduation thesis deals with known creditworthy and bankruptcy models originated in Czech republic and abroad and also with two non-financial models. The methods are first described in a theoretical part with the aim of understanding their principles, advantages and disadvantages. In a practical part the methods are applied on a machinery company which was seriously affected by global economic crisis. The main aim of this thesis is to evaluate the development through years of the company's general financial health, reveal strong and weak points of the firm and compare results of the methods.

The practical part uses theoretical knowledge to design an external financial analysis of a company in the time period of 2004 - 2008.

The Purpose of this thesis is to briefly describe the company but also the whole branch of soft drinks production. The Dissertation investigate financial structure and analyzes the company through particular instruments of financial analysis such as absolute and ratio indexes, Du Pont decomposition, Altman index, Model IN and Economic value added. Also comparison with the biggest and most dangerous competitors on the market is the other essential part. Output of this thesis presents the evaluation of the financial health and condition of the company, its market position and last but not least some little recommendations, if needed.

The main goal of my bachelor's work is to make the financial analysis of company Montako, s.r.o. in a period of years 2003 - 2007 because of exploring its financial health and its financial situation. The bachelor's work contains a theoretical part containing a description of the indicators and procedures used in the analysis and a practical part, which is based on the concrete calculations and results of financial analysis.

Financial analysis of the company Železiarne Podbrezová a.s.

In my Bachelor thesis I focused on the financial analysis of the company Zeleziarne Podbrezová a.s. , which I acted according to the literature to a comprehensive financial assessment. I drawned the information also from Internet resources and publicly available annual reports. The methodological section includes an explanation of the calculations and procedures for the application section. The application section incorporates the indicators as well as charts and their interpretation. The financial situation of Zeleziarne Podbrezová a. s, in the period between 2004-2007, I evaluate as very well. Every year the company improved and showed better results "in all" criteria. Increasing the volume of production, income, profits, liquidity, profitability, obtaining good results in liquidation criteria and creating economic value added.
